Chapter 235 That Woman Is Diana
"I..." Jessica started to speak but froze, her mind blank and body stiff.
She couldn't get a word out, choking up.
Her heart was shattered.
Forcing a weak smile, she said, "I just wanted to ask if you're tired?"
"No, I'm not," Gabriel replied.
"Okay, then I'll hang up."
She quickly ended the call.
Only then did she realize she was completely drained.
She wanted to ask more.
Like who the woman was that he couldn't forget, even when he was with her.
She even wanted to ask if all those sweet words were just lies to amuse her.
But what was the point?
Who that woman was didn't matter anymore. What mattered was he was with someone else now.
From this moment on, all the past, the deep feelings, the affection, it was all just a dream.
The dream was over, and it was time to wake up.
He no longer had the right to be in her heart.
He was no longer hers, nor was her love and passion.
She said she had no strength left.
She was exhausted. She had lost this time.
She would let go and wholeheartedly wish him and that woman well.
This would be the last thing she did for him.
The dryer was spinning.
With a ding, she opened the door, took out his clothes, folded them, and packed up everything related to him.
Then, she packed it all up.
Just as she finished, her phone rang.
It was an unfamiliar number. When she answered, a nightmarish voice came through. "It's me, Diana."
It was her.
This name had been gone from her life for so long.
So long that she might have forgotten it if no one had mentioned it.
Now that it reappeared, Jessica was momentarily stunned.
Hadn't she gone abroad?
Why would Diana suddenly contact her?
"I don't think we have anything to talk about," Jessica said coldly, ready to hang up.
But Diana's urgent voice came through, "Don't you want to know where I am right now?"
Jessica instantly had a bad feeling.
"First, I don't want to know; second, I'm not interested in anything about you," Jessica said calmly.
Diana sneered, "You must be interested. What if I told you that I'm back, and Gabriel personally brought me back. Are you still not interested?"
"Impossible," Jessica denied without thinking.
He had once promised her he would send Diana abroad, permanently cut off contact, and they would be strangers.
He had promised.
'No way.' Jessica kept telling herself it must be Diana's trick, trying to sow discord.
But she couldn't convince herself.
Diana continued, "I know you don't believe it. If I were you, I wouldn't believe it either. But Jessica, this is the truth, and you have to face it.
"Do you know who was with Gabriel all those days abroad? It was me, it was always me, I was with him the whole time."
"Enough." Jessica threw down the phone, not wanting to listen anymore.
Her heart felt like it was being cut with a knife.
Too many things suddenly flooded her mind, making her head throb.
On the other end, Diana laughed heartily.
That wasn't enough for her. She wanted Jessica to suffer more.
Only when Jessica was in pain could she be happy.
Diana kept going, "Jessica, you wanna know what happened between Gabriel and me?
"Oh, by the way, you probably don't know, that night, the woman's voice you heard was mine. I guess Gabriel must have kept it from you, huh?"
"Stop it, I told you to stop." Jessica screamed.
Her heart felt like it had been gouged out, the pain was suffocating.
"Why should I stop? I'm not finished yet." Diana laughed maliciously, "And my legs, Gabriel has already found a top doctor for me. After the surgery, I'll be able to stand up right away.
"Then, I'll stand by his side, stunning and worthy of him. I won't be a cripple anymore, and he'll fall in love with me again. Jessica, in the end, you were just my substitute all along.
"Do you think he really loves you? If a man loves a woman, he wouldn't be entangled with another woman. And Gabriel can't forget me.
"Jessica, tomorrow night at eight, he will definitely come to see me. If you don't believe it, you can follow him and see for yourself."
With that, Diana hung up.
Jessica was already weak all over. She didn't even have the strength to hold the phone.
Her heart broke so much.
She had thought that woman was someone else, but it turned out to be Diana.
'It had been Diana all along. Gabriel, it seems your love for her is really deep.
'Then what about me?
'What do I mean to you?'
Curled up in the blanket, Jessica was trembling all over, she was very cold.
A wave of coldness crawled up from her feet.
Lying in bed, she slept and woke, woke and slept.
In the end, she didn't even remember what time it was.
Before coming home, Gabriel called Jessica, but her phone was in the living room and had run out of battery.
At the door, Gabriel rang the doorbell, but she didn't answer.
He had a bad feeling, didn't wait any longer, and directly opened the door and walked in.
To his surprise, the living room was pitch black.
"Jessica," Gabriel called out loudly, but there was no response.
It wasn't until he reached the bedroom that he saw Jessica on the bed.
She was lying there, looking very weak, her eyes closed, in a daze.
Gabriel immediately went over, touched her head, and gently called, "Jessica, Jessica."
Jessica didn't want to respond to him.
She tried to open her eyes, looked at him, and then silently closed them again.
With just one look, her heart started to hurt again.
"Do you have a cold? Is there anywhere else you feel uncomfortable? Tell me," he asked.
Jessica shook her head, "No, I just want to sleep."
"Okay, then you sleep." Gabriel tucked her in and left. A few minutes later, he came back, picked up Jessica, and gently placed a thermometer on her.
When the temperature came out, Gabriel was shocked, over 102 degrees.
"Jessica, you have a high fever, we need to go to the hospital," Gabriel said, lifting her blanket.
Jessica looked at him and asked faintly, "Do you really want to take me to the hospital? Aren't you afraid?"
'Afraid I and Diana would run into each other at the hospital?' She didn't say this out loud.
"Afraid of what?" Gabriel was puzzled.
