Chapter 355 Reaching an Agreement
Seeing Gabriel bleed so much, Chelsea freaked out. She rushed over, panic in her voice, "Gabriel, are you okay? I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Does it hurt? I'll call a doctor right now."
She reached out to wipe the blood off his forehead, but Gabriel coldly brushed her off. "Thanks, but no, Ms. Haugen."
With that, he turned away.
Chelsea quickly grabbed his arm. "Gabriel, I was just so mad earlier, I didn't mean to hurt you. Please don't be mad at me, okay?"
Gabriel stayed silent. But his eyes were ice-cold as he looked at her. He pushed her hands away and walked off without a second thought.
Gabriel knew Rolf was a man of his word, but he was still shocked at how swiftly the Haugen Group acted.
One brutal attack after another sent Walton Group's stock plummeting to near-record lows. People started dumping their stocks left and right. The stock market was a mess.
Jessica stared at the news on her phone, her hands trembling. She could barely believe it. "How could this be happening?" she muttered to herself. "Hadn't Chelsea agreed to invest in the Haugen Group? Maybe she couldn't convince her grandfather? No, Rolf had gone to Walton Group and said he would invest."
Jessica pondered the situation, trying to make sense of it all. The only logical explanation was that Gabriel must have turned down the offer. Now, the Haugen Group was going all out in retaliation.
Distracted all morning, Jessica scrolled through every piece of news about Walton Group, hoping for some good news. But all she found was disappointment. Walton Group was in serious trouble.
Two days later, Gabriel decided to confront Rolf again. Just like before, Rolf refused to see him unless Gabriel agreed to marry Chelsea.
Gabriel handed a folder to Eliseo and said politely, "Please give this to Mr. Haugen. I think he'll want to see me after he reads it."
Eliseo raised an eyebrow but took the folder. "Since you're so confident, I'll pass it on."
Five minutes later, Eliseo returned, his expression unreadable but with a dangerous glint in his eye. "Mr. Walton, Mr. Haugen will see you now."
As soon as Gabriel walked in, Rolf dismissed Eliseo.
He looked at Gabriel in shock. "Where did you get this report?"
"Mr. Haugen, you've been in business for decades. You know how powerful money can be. Getting some info from a private hospital wasn't hard, especially with the price I offered."
"That's nonsense, this is a breach of patient privacy. I can sue them." Rolf was furious, tearing the reports to shreds and tossing them in the trash.
Gabriel said nothing, just watched calmly. This time, he would wait for Rolf to speak first.
After a while, Rolf seemed to calm down a bit. He looked at Gabriel with disdain. "Are you trying to threaten me? You're completely wrong. I'm never the one being threatened."
Gabriel put down his teacup, crossed his legs, and looked even more confident. "Mr. Haugen, you've got it all wrong. How could I threaten you? Besides, I know you too well. It wouldn't do me any good."
"Then what do you want?"
Gabriel placed the remaining documents on the table and, pointing with his long fingers, confidently said, "I want to discuss a more humane kind of business with you, Mr. Haugen."
Rolf snorted, "Business is business. In all my years, I've never heard of any business being 'humane.' It's all about the money."
"You haven't heard mine," Gabriel replied, opening the first document to reveal an ultrasound report when Rolf didn't object.
Rolf looked puzzled. "What is this?"
"This is an ultrasound report, confirming the fetal heartbeat and gestational sac after a woman becomes pregnant."
"Her name is Jessica, my fiancée. She's almost three months pregnant with twins. We were planning to get married soon."
"But Chelsea told her that if she left, the Haugen Group would invest in Walton Group to help revitalize it. So she sacrificed herself and left secretly for me. I haven't found her since."
"Mr. Haugen, do you think that in this situation, if I really abandoned my fiancée and kids to marry your granddaughter, you could still trust me?"
"If I abandon Jessica today, it means that one day, I could abandon Chelsea. Do you want that for her?"
"The reason you want Chelsea to marry me is for her future. But if I'm the kind of guy who abandons his wife and kids, would you really want her to marry me?"
Gabriel's words hit hard, each one shaking Rolf to his core. Seeing that he was moved, Gabriel seized the moment and took out the second document.
He spread it out. "Henry Loomis, the only child of the prestigious Loomis family. I'm sure you've heard of them. His parents are known for their integrity and kindness, highly regarded in their circle."
"More importantly, Mrs. Loomis, Henry's grandmother, is currently looking for a suitable granddaughter-in-law. I believe Chelsea's qualifications are excellent. Her family background and overseas education make her an ideal candidate."
As soon as Gabriel finished speaking, Rolf, clearly interested, picked up the document and read it carefully.
"Rather than marrying someone who already has a family, Chelsea marrying Henry would be the best choice."
After reading the document, Rolf put it down and sighed deeply, "This Henry does have good qualities, but he's such a playboy and has been involved with many women. How could he be a good match for Chelsea?"
"Mr. Haugen, you probably don't know that those rumors about Henry were spread by himself."
"What?" Rolf was immediately shocked. "Why would he do that?"
"The Loomis family has been urging him to marry for years. He didn't want to be tied down too early, so he created a playboy image so that those wealthy ladies would give up on him. In private, although he likes to have fun, he's definitely someone who can be trusted for life."
"Are you sure?" Rolf questioned.
"Of course, this is not only based on my investigation but also on what I've learned from friends," Gabriel said, handing over the last document.
After seeing this document, Rolf nodded in satisfaction. "If what you say is true, it's worth a try."
