Chapter 204 Jessica is Kidnapped

Seeing Carter's hand out for money, Jessica snapped.

She spun around, grabbed a broom from the balcony, and swung it at him without thinking.

But Carter wasn't one to back down.

He snatched the broom from her, broke it in half, then shattered it into pieces without a word.

"You're a maniac," Jessica muttered, rushing to find her phone. She needed to call the cops.

She never thought Carter would go this far. Her mom's dying advice was to treat him kindly, remembering how he saved their lives when they were desperate. Even if he did it for selfish reasons, her mom always said to repay a life-saving debt.

But now, calling the cops seemed like the only option.

Just as she grabbed her phone, Carter snatched it away.

"Give it back!" Jessica yelled, fighting to get it back.

Carter shoved her hard, sending her crashing into the coffee table. Her head hit the corner, and blood started flowing.

Carter's eyes widened. This wasn't what he wanted.

Jessica felt unbearable pain. With her last bit of strength, she pointed at him. She remarked, "Are you even human? Even if I'm not your real daughter, you can't kill..."

She blacked out before finishing her sentence.

Carter panicked. He shook her gently, calling her name. He said desperately, "Jessica, wake up. Jessica."

No response.

Seeing the blood, he got even more scared. He checked her breathing and sighed in relief when he felt it.

Thank goodness, she wasn't dead.

"I just wanted money. You forced me. If you'd given me the money, if you hadn't tried to call the cops, I wouldn't have done this," he muttered, trying to convince himself.

Just then, there was a loud knock on the door.

An impatient voice followed, asking, "Are you done yet?"

"Mr. Gonzalez, don't worry," Carter replied, his voice shaky.

Mike reminded, "Carter, don't forget, you only have ten minutes left. If you don't get the money, your hands and legs will be separated from your body."

Carter reassured him, "Mr. Gonzalez, I know. Don't worry, I'll make sure you're satisfied."

Carter looked at Jessica and sighed. He said, "Well, it's good you're out cold. Since you can't come up with the $200,000, you'll have to pay it back yourself."

He remarked coldly, "I've raised you for over twenty years. It's only fair to collect some support money now."

Soon, Carter opened the door.

As soon as it swung open, several burly men rushed in, making the room feel cramped.

"Where's the money?" Mike, the leader, asked directly.

Seeing Carter empty-handed, he immediately got angry, grabbed him by the collar, and demanded, "I asked you, where's the money? Where's the two hundred grand? Do you still want your arms and legs?"

Carter trembled and fell to the ground, begging for mercy. He pleaded, "Mr. Gonzalez, please calm down. I definitely don't want to lose my arms and legs."

Carter bargained, "Although I didn't get the $200,000, I have a second method. Not only can I get you $200,000, but even $2 million or $10 million is no problem. Mr. Gonzalez, would you like to hear it?"

Hearing this, Mike finally showed some interest.

Mike said, "Speak quickly."

"Yes, Mr. Gonzalez, this woman." Carter pointed to the unconscious Jessica. He explained, "She is my adopted daughter. Her husband, my son-in-law, do you know who he is? The famous Mr. Walton of Walton Group."

Unexpectedly, Mike laughed as if he had heard a joke.

He reached out and slapped Carter's face hard. Mike belittled, "Carter, are you still dreaming?"

He scoffed, "I advise you to wake up quickly. The president of Walton Group? You must be kidding."

After saying that, not only him but even the people behind him burst into laughter.

Carter could only explain desperately. He insisted, "Mr. Gonzalez, I'm not lying to you."

Mike questioned impatiently, "Do you think I would believe that the dignified Mr. Walton wouldn't even pay $200,000 for his father-in-law?"

Carter suggested, "Mr. Gonzalez, trust me. How about this, you use her phone to call and verify."

Carter immediately handed Jessica's phone to Mike.

"You know the password?" Mike asked as he raised an eyebrow doubtfully.

Carter said smugly, "What's so hard about that? Jessica's passwords have always been her mother's or her birthday's date for easy remembering. Of course, I know."

Carter thought for a moment and then entered Giselle's birthday, successfully unlocking the phone.

Mike had no interest at first and didn't believe it at all.

However, when Carter scrolled through Jessica's contacts and found the name "Gabriel" at the top, Mike immediately sat up straight, intrigued.

Carter had unlocked the phone in front of him and scrolled through the contacts in front of him, so there was little chance of faking it.

There was only one possibility; this name had indeed been in the phone for a long time.

Moreover, it was at the top, indicating a close relationship.

Gabriel?

The president of Walton Group, he remembered, seemed to have been this name.

Could it be that Jessica was really Gabriel's wife, as Carter said?

If that were true, this would be interesting.

Mike ordered, "You dial."

Hearing Mike's voice, Carter immediately took back the phone and dialed the number.

As the phone rang, everyone held their breath, waiting.
