Chapter 185 I have a boyfriend, and I love him very much.

Jack stared at Jessica, momentarily stunned, then said coldly, "I really underestimated you, coming straight to my office."

"I don't know where you live or have your phone number. Your office is the only place I could come." Jessica replied.

But they were clearly on different wavelengths.

Jack thought Jessica was pestering him, shamelessly showing up at his office.

Jessica, however, was there to return something.

"What do you want?" Jack asked, looking away from her.

Jessica stepped forward and placed a gift box on his desk.

The box was fancy, and Jack naturally misunderstood. "For me?"

"Yes."

Jack looked up at her. She wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, but she had a certain charm, with a gentle and obedient demeanor.

Especially those big, clear eyes that had caught his attention when they first met.

But her previous behavior had killed any goodwill he had.

He sneered, "Take it back. I don't need it."

Jessica frowned. "Aren't you going to see what's inside?"

"No matter what it is, I don't need it."

"No, what I mean is..."

Before she could finish, Jack cut her off, "I've seen many women like you. If you leave now, you can still save some dignity. Don't make me say something harsh."

"Women like me?" Jessica found his words particularly harsh. "I'm just a small intern, and you're the deputy director of the hospital. What do you mean by 'women like me'?"

Jack sneered again, a mocking smile on his lips.

"I felt sorry for you and didn't want to embarrass you, but you didn't appreciate it. So don't blame me for being rude."

He looked at her and began to criticize, "Relying on your looks, you use every trick to get my attention and favor."

"If I'm not mistaken, you always 'ran into' well-off, good-looking men, hoping to trap a wealthy guy into marrying you."

Jack's expression was full of sarcasm.

To his surprise, Jessica didn't look ashamed but rather furious.

She bit her lip, standing straight, her face turning red with anger.

If she hadn't understood his words earlier, she fully understood them now.

Jack thought she was trying to seduce him for a promotion!

In other words, he thought she was a scheming gold-digger.

Ridiculous, he was too full of himself.

Suppressing her anger, Jessica's face showed a mocking smile.

She opened the box and pushed it toward Jack, saying, "Mr. Smith, this is the jewelry your mother gave me downstairs. She somehow believes I'm your girlfriend because you brought me home for a night and insisted on giving me these."

"I came to return these to you."

Now, it was Jack's turn to be stunned.

He never expected things to be like this.

"What did you say?" Jack's eyes widened in disbelief.

Jessica replied calmly, "Everything I said is true. Dr. Smith, if you don't believe me, you can check with your mother."

"And for the record, I'm not the kind of girl you think I am, looking for a high-status lover. I have no intention of attracting your attention. Those previous incidents were really just misunderstandings. Believe it or not."

"You stared at me for minutes in that private room. Do you think I'd believe that was an accident?" Jack raised an eyebrow and sneered.

Jessica curled her lips into a cold smile. "I must apologize for that. The lighting was too dim, and I mistook you for my boyfriend. You both have similar physiques and drinking habits, so I stole more than a few glances."

"Nonsense." Jack snapped, suddenly angry and unable to control his emotions.

"Dr. Smith, I must repeat, you really misunderstood. I have a boyfriend, and I love him very much. As for you, although you're the dream man of many girls in the hospital, I'm sorry, I have no interest in you."

"I've returned all the jewelry Mrs. Smith gave me. You can check with her."

With that, Jessica pushed the door open and left.

In the large office, only Jack remained.

After sitting for more than ten minutes, he still couldn't accept what had just happened.

A misunderstanding?

She said it was all a misunderstanding?

How could that be?

It was ironic. He had become someone else's stand-in, resembling someone else?

Not mad? He was furious!

In the end, after she explained everything, he became the self-righteous one.

His gaze fell on the jewelry box in front of him again, and he called Patricia.

"Hello, Jack."

"Did you give Jessica jewelry?" Jack asked directly.

"Yes, how did it go? Did it help you?"

Jack rubbed his head, feeling very upset. "Mom, I asked you to stay at home and relax. Why do you have to get involved in my own matters? Do you know that today I made a big joke? Jessica has a boyfriend and she has no interest in me at all."

"A boyfriend?" Patricia said in disbelief. "How is that possible? Jack, I checked, she doesn't have a boyfriend."

"She's a young girl, maybe a bit reserved, so she said that to make you back off. The more she does that, the more you should seize the opportunity to win her heart."

Jack sighed. He and Patricia simply couldn't communicate.

"Forget it. Anyway, don't meddle in my affairs in the future. I can handle them myself."

Jack angrily hung up the phone.

In his mind, he suddenly recalled Jessica's words: "I have a boyfriend, and I love him very much. As for you, I have no interest in you."

Getting up, Jack went to find Jessica.

When he reached the hospital entrance, he saw Jessica. Just as he was about to speak, he saw her quickly run outside.

Soon, he saw Jessica get into a car.

That car, Jack naturally recognized, was a limited edition luxury car.

He curled his lips into a cold smile.

Then he turned around, his face instantly becoming icy cold.

A stand-in?

Fine, now he was really interested.
