Chapter 529 Jessica Presents the Evidence

This time, Jessica neither roared nor shouted.

She just spoke in a calm tone.

As expected, Francis shook his head, "But I'm not the Gabriel you're talking about."

"Of course you are, you just have amnesia and don't remember your past identity."

"Words alone aren't enough. What evidence do you have?"

Finally, Francis posed the question.

Hearing this, Jessica knew she had a chance.

Since he dared to ask, it meant he had doubts and was wavering.

Only at this moment would presenting evidence be meaningful.

Otherwise, he would just think all her evidence was fabricated.

Not only would he not believe her, but he would also reject her even more.

"Of course I have evidence, but do you dare to look at it?" Jessica asked.

Looking at the chair beside him, Francis walked over and sat down, "If you dare to show it, I dare to look."

Jessica took an album out of the drawer and placed it in front of him.

"See for yourself!"

Looking at the album in front of him, Francis suddenly felt a complex emotion he couldn't describe.

He seemed to be both anticipating and fearing.

If the person inside was him, what then?

If it wasn't him, what then?

So, he stared at the album in front of him, his heart filled with anxiety.

Jessica wasn't in a hurry; she sat quietly on the side, waiting.

Five minutes later, Francis finally opened the album slowly.

When the first photo came into view, his pupils instantly dilated, and his heart began to beat violently.

She wasn't lying; the person inside really looked almost identical to him.

The only difference was the clothes.

Then, he almost frantically flipped through the entire album in one go.

His heart was in turmoil. Francis took a deep breath but still couldn't calm down.

Jessica took back the album and handed him a tablet, "Here are videos of us together, including the video record of our first wedding, with Grandpa and Mom and Dad."

"So, you're not an orphan, nor did you grow up on an island."

"Even if the album could be photoshopped, the videos can't be faked."

Francis fast-forwarded through the entire video.

Finally, he paused the video and pointed at Jessica, "Looking at me back then, I seemed very unhappy with the wedding."

Jessica nodded, "You were indeed very unhappy because Grandpa arranged for you to marry me. You married me reluctantly, so we divorced later."

"We confessed our feelings to each other after the divorce and got back together."

As Jessica spoke, she placed several certificates in front of Francis.

"The first two are our first marriage certificates, then the divorce decree, and finally the marriage certificates from our second wedding."

"Look closely, the pictures on them are of you and me."

Jessica had said everything she needed to say.

Now, all she had to do was wait.

She knew that anyone would need time to accept such a large amount of information suddenly.

So, she gave him time and space.

"Alright, I've told you everything I wanted to say."

"That's it for today. You can go home and rest."

After speaking, Jessica stood up.

Before going upstairs, she walked slowly towards Francis.

Then she reached out and hugged him, her gentle voice softly spilling out, "In my heart, you are Francis and also Gabriel, but no matter who you are, you are my husband."

"I love you at all times and in all forms."

"And you? Even if you've lost your memory, even if you've forgotten me, will you fall in love with me again?"

Letting go, Jessica turned and went upstairs.

Some questions didn't need immediate answers.

When Francis got home, it was already two in the morning.

He opened the door, and the whole yard was quiet, with not a single light on.

It seemed they were all asleep.

But after what had just happened, he couldn't sleep at all.

Lighting a cigarette, he stood straight under the moonlight for a long time.

Jessica's words, the pictures he saw, the videos, the marriage certificates—all of it flooded his mind like a tide, almost overwhelming him.

Were those things real or fake?

He took one puff of the cigarette and then forgot about it.

It wasn't until the burning ember reached his fingertip, causing pain, that he snapped back to reality, took a deep drag, and threw it into the trash can.

The moonlight was hazy, mirroring the turmoil within his heart.

At that moment, he couldn't tell if he was Francis or Gabriel.

Celia hadn't slept at all.

When Francis went out, she secretly followed him.

Celia witnessed him entering Jessica's yard, and she was filled with both anger and resentment.

At that moment, Celia wanted to rush in and interrupt them.

But in the end, she held back.

She returned home ten minutes before Francis did.

Celia quickly changed into her pajamas, opened the door, and pretended to walk out sleepily.

Seeing Francis in the yard, she walked over in surprise and hugged him from behind.

Celia spoke softly, her voice still carrying the drowsiness of just waking up.

"Francis, are you troubled by something? Or is there something bothering you at work? Why aren't you asleep so late?"

"Celia."

Francis called her name and suddenly turned to look at her, "I want to ask you a question. Will you answer me honestly?"

"Sure, ask away."

"When I woke up from my illness, you said I had forgotten some memories. Can you tell me how we fell in love and got engaged?"

Celia didn't expect him to bring this up suddenly and felt nervous.

She became a bit flustered and uneasy.

But luckily, it was dark, so he probably didn't see.

"What made you think to ask that all of a sudden?" Celia asked, pretending to be relaxed.

"Seeing the gentle moonlight, it felt especially romantic, and I just thought of it."

"Our past..." Celia pretended to recall, "You treated me very well, very indulgently. You would let me walk on the inside of the sidewalk, kiss me goodnight before bed, and say goodnight to me."

"You would even get very possessive and jealous if you saw me with another man."

She spoke very specifically.

Francis looked into her eyes, trying to find a hint of deception.

But her eyes were clear, like a spring, showing no signs of deceit.

"And our engagement? Are there photos?" Francis asked.

"Of course, there are. Such an important occasion, I kept a memento."

"Oh, right." Suddenly, Celia raised her hand, showing the ring on her ring finger to Francis.

"And this ring, it's our engagement ring, with our names engraved inside. You designed it yourself and had it made for me."

"I remember being very happy and touched when I received it."

"Unfortunately, you forgot all these beautiful memories after waking up from your illness."
