Chapter 673 Explanation 2

Grace closed her eyes, fists clenched, letting the tears flow inward. She didn't want to respond to him.

But Quentin suddenly reached out and grabbed her hand, gently and persistently asking.

"You're angry about this, right?"

She composed herself, took a deep breath, and then opened her eyes. "What else? Quentin, if you can't do it, don't make promises casually."

"So you lied to me back then. You wanted me to stay with you and didn't want me to be with Caroline at all, right?" Quentin insisted.

She couldn't hold back anymore, and a few tears rolled down her cheeks.

She immediately wiped them away and stubbornly spoke. "Yeah, I'm the idiot! I keep believing you over and over again, so I keep getting hurt and never learn. Quentin, do you know how much I hate you?"

Grace couldn't hold back any longer and started hitting him.

"I hate you, I hate you so much."

But after hitting him, she didn't feel any relief.

Instead, a deeper heaviness settled in her chest.

Quentin was her destined calamity in this life, bound to bring her suffering.

And his chest was firm.

She hit him a few times, but he didn't feel pain; instead, her hands started to hurt.

Finally, she let go.

Quentin, however, grabbed her hands, a faint smile on his lips. "Grace, admit it, you're just jealous."

"Who's jealous?" Grace would never admit it.

Seeing the smile on his face, she repeated, "Don't talk nonsense, I'm not jealous."

"Grace, how long are you going to keep lying? You don't like me attending her birthday party, you just want me to be with you. Such possessiveness isn't that jealousy?"

Maybe he hit the mark, and Grace immediately turned her face away in a panic.

"Don't flatter yourself, I don't care. You can be with whoever you want."

"Really?" Quentin leaned in and asked, "Grace, are you sure you're telling the truth?"

She raised her head. "Why would I lie to you?"

Maybe it was just to test him.

However, as soon as she finished speaking, Quentin suddenly let go of her hand.

The next moment, his tall figure walked towards the door.

Soon, the door closed.

His figure grew more distant.

Grace stared blankly at the door, suddenly feeling like crying.

Her heart felt heavy and uncomfortable.

Maybe she was being melodramatic, caring but stubbornly refusing to admit it.

She was just like any other girl, wanting him to coax her and say something nice.

But he said nothing.

She stubbornly said she wasn't lying, and he really left.

Her heart ached, and tears started to flow down her face.

Grace immediately raised her hand and resolutely wiped away the tears on her cheeks.

She had never been a fragile person; no matter how much suffering she had endured, no matter how many dark days she had gone through, she had never cried, never shed a tear.

But when it came to him, she even started to hate herself.

Just as she was feeling miserable, suddenly, the door opened.

The next moment, Quentin's upright figure walked in from outside.

He put down the bag in his hand and sat beside Grace.

When he saw the tears still on her face, his heart instantly softened.

He reached out and gently cupped her cheeks, allowing her to lean on him.

"Silly girl, did you say you didn't care about me? Then why are you crying?"

Grace wiped her face and stubbornly said, "You saw wrong, I'm not crying. If you want to leave, just leave. I don't care!"

As soon as she finished speaking, she regretted it.

Maybe she was too afraid of getting hurt, so she always used this way to disguise herself.

But this way was not clever at all; it always hurt her more.

So every time, her heart felt uncomfortable.

This time, Quentin didn't leave.

He cupped her face and gently pressed his forehead against hers.

Finally, he placed a cherished kiss on her forehead.

His voice was full of coaxing words.

"Alright, you don't care about me, but I care about you, I can't bear to leave. I just want to be with you now, not wanting to leave for even a second. Don't push me away, okay?"

Grace's heart instantly softened.

She asked softly, "What did you just go down to get?"

Quentin remembered and immediately let go of her, then opened the bag.

He took out a pill and a cup of warm water, handing them to Grace. "Willie prepared the medicine and left it downstairs. I just went down to get it for you."

Grace stared at the white pill, her mind suddenly recalling everything from yesterday.

Especially the scenes in the bathroom.

She held his waist, repeatedly saying "uncomfortable" and "hot."

Now, thinking back, her cheeks were burning hot.

Blushing, she asked shyly, "Is this the antidote?"

Quentin shook his head. "No, it's not. I was worried about your headache and your body being too weak, so Willie went to get the medicine early in the morning."

"Alright!" She responded softly.

She immediately took the pill and drank it with the warm water.

After taking the medicine, she had just put down the cup.

Suddenly, her hand tightened.

The next moment, she was pulled into Quentin's arms.

His head rested against her earlobe, breathing lightly.

His voice was incredibly gentle, "Silly girl, do you know how happy I was to hear you say those things?"

"It let me know that you care about me, too."

"I'm sorry, I was wrong this time. I shouldn't have broken my promise, and I shouldn't have gone to Caroline's birthday party."

"You have every right to be angry. I didn't keep my promise to you; it was all my fault."

"But Grace, I have my reasons."

Grace couldn't help but ask, "What reasons?"

"Grace." Quentin stroked her hair, his voice very low and hoarse.

"I never told you, I have a sister."

Grace didn't know, so she was a bit shocked.

Quentin continued, "My sister had a failed marriage, which led to depression and mental illness. She often has episodes."

"When she has an episode, she's not mentally stable. She doesn't like anyone approaching her except me, not even my mom."

"That day, she also went to the birthday party. She had just had an episode recently, and I was worried about her condition, so I had to go. I'm sorry, Grace, I should have told you earlier. Can I explain it to you now?"

"Can you forgive me this time?"
