Chapter 206 Learning that Jessica was Kidnapped
"Your discharge papers are ready. You can leave anytime," Gabriel said, then walked out of the hospital room.
His back was firm and unyielding, showing no sign of hesitation or regret.
Diana watched him go, a bitter smile on her face. 'The farther away, the better?' she thought. If that's what he wanted, she'd give it to him.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Two middle-aged women and two middle-aged men entered, standing respectfully in front of Diana. "Ms. Bush, Mr. Walton hired us to take care of you. If you need anything, just let us know."
With their help, Diana got into a wheelchair. They left the hospital and went home. But as soon as they reached the bedroom, Diana sent everyone out and locked the door behind them.
She wheeled herself to the bathroom and filled the tub with water. It was a struggle to get in without help, but her legs, though weak, weren't completely useless. After much effort, she finally settled into the tub.
Diana took out a knife she had prepared and, gritting her teeth, slashed her wrist deeply. Blood gushed out, drop by drop, stream by stream, turning the water red. She smiled weakly, satisfied with the effect.
She knew Gabriel had a soft heart. He seemed cold, but he was warm inside. If he saw this, he would soften. He wouldn't let her die. He couldn't.
As more blood flowed, Diana looked at the now blood-stained water and smiled. She reached for her phone and recorded a short video.
"Gabriel, I love you. If my departure is what you want, rest assured, no matter how difficult it is, I will grant your wish. I love you so much that I'm willing to give up everything, even my life, to fulfill your wish. I wish you and Jessica happiness. Farewell!"
She made sure to show the blood on her wrist and the bloody water in the tub. Then she dropped her phone into the water, closed her eyes, and lay quietly in the tub.
The water had turned cold. Very cold. She had lost a lot of blood and felt terrible, but she wasn't afraid. She was betting that he would come, that he would save her, that he couldn't bear to let her die.
Gabriel received the call just after signing a contract, completing the most important task of his visit.
Suddenly, his phone flashed with a new message notification from Diana. He glanced at it indifferently and put his phone away without checking it.
Everything had been made clear; there was no need for further entanglement. It wouldn't be good for anyone, and it would be unfair to Jessica.
He had already hurt Jessica once; he couldn't let her be hurt again.
But ten minutes later, Gabriel's phone rang urgently.
"Hello," he answered.
The voice said, "Mr. Walton, we're the people you hired to take care of Ms. Bush. She acted very strangely. As soon as she got home, she drove us all out, leaving herself alone in the house. What's even stranger is that the water in the house has been running continuously, and it's all blood. The water is full of blood. Do you think Ms. Bush might be in trouble?"
Hearing this, Gabriel immediately opened Facebook. When he saw the video message from Diana, his heart sank. She had actually committed suicide. He never expected that she would kill herself at home. Was it just because he said, 'The farther, the better'?
Jumping into his car, Gabriel sped towards Diana's house. At the door, he commanded, "Don't worry about anything, just force the door open."
Once inside, Gabriel walked into the bathroom, which was already filled with bloody water. Diana lay quietly in the bathtub, with blood still dripping from her wrist. The entire room reeked of blood.
"Diana, Diana, wake up!" Gabriel shouted, patting her face and draining the tub. "Ambulance, call an ambulance now."
The ambulance arrived quickly, and Gabriel immediately placed her on the stretcher. He was covered in blood, which dripped from his clothes. The scene was chaotic.
The paramedics shouted, "Are you coming?"
Just as Gabriel was about to get in the ambulance, his phone rang. It was a call from Jessica. He was overjoyed and answered immediately, "Jessica."
But to his surprise, a man's voice came through and said, "I'm not your wife."
Gabriel's heart pounded. He gripped his phone tightly, his expression turning dark and menacing. He demanded, "Who are you? Why do you have my wife's phone?"
The man instructed, "You don't need to know that. You just need to know that if you want your wife to be alive, follow my instructions. Prepare ten million dollars in cash by 9 A.M. tomorrow to ransom her life, or your wife will be gone."
The man added, "Listen carefully, ten million dollars in cash. I'm giving you plenty of time, not a penny less. If you dare call the police, I'll kill Jessica, and you'll never see your wife again."
The call ended abruptly, giving Gabriel no time to think. The sudden silence was so intense that even a pin drop could be heard. However, even though Gabriel's mind was in turmoil, his head suddenly became exceptionally clear.
What had he just heard? Jessica had been kidnapped. She was now in the hands of a group of ruthless people. She needed money. She needed him to save her. Otherwise, he might never see her again.
At that moment, Gabriel felt a suffocating pain in his chest. He was in agony. His Jessica, such a delicate and fragile girl, how could she endure a kidnapping? He wanted to kill those kidnappers.
Just then, the paramedics' voice rang out again, "Are you coming or not?"
