Chapter 497 Nowhere to Hide, Patricia Confesses and Surrenders 2
At that moment, Patricia frantically chased after Jessica's retreating figure.
"Wait, Jessica, stop!"
Jessica didn't stop and continued walking forward.
Louie spoke up, "Mrs. Walton, the bait is working."
Jessica shook her head, "No, the time isn't right yet."
They continued walking forward, with Patricia stumbling and chasing behind them.
Outside the villa, Louie bent down and considerately opened the car door for Jessica.
Jessica got in, her expression indifferent, "Drive."
"Okay, Mrs. Walton."
Just as the gas pedal was pressed and the car was about to speed away, suddenly, Patricia, with her hair disheveled, crazily blocked the car.
With a sudden brake, Jessica, who had anticipated this, adjusted her posture and sat back down.
Outside, Patricia spread her arms to block the car, looking pitiful as she desperately shouted towards the car window, "Jessica, come out, I agree, I agree to your demands."
"I'm begging you, as long as you don't let Jack go to jail, I'll do anything you ask."
Jessica, however, looked ahead coldly, not even blinking.
Outside, Patricia frantically pounded on the car window, shouting as she did, "Jessica, come out, I'm begging you, as long as you spare Jack, I'll turn myself in immediately."
"I'll confess, I'll admit all my crimes to the police."
Patricia screamed her heart out, and it was only at this moment that she felt a twinge of remorse.
If it were before, Jessica might have felt some pity.
But now, just thinking about Danielle lying in the hospital and Gabriel's uncertain fate, she felt nothing but overwhelming hatred for Patricia.
She tore apart a good family.
How could she not hate?
When Patricia finally collapsed to the ground, exhausted and powerless, Jessica opened the door and calmly walked out.
She looked down, her eyes cold, "Have you thought it through? Are you willing to turn yourself in?"
Patricia nodded frantically, "Yes, I am."
"Alright, follow me to the police station now."
Patricia was visibly stunned, "So soon?"
"Have you changed your mind?"
"No, it's just that Jack is abroad, he hasn't come back yet. I want to see Jack one last time. I promise, after seeing him, I'll turn myself in, okay?"
"Then I'm sorry, I don't have patience."
As soon as Jessica finished speaking, Patricia suddenly opened the door and squeezed herself into the car.
The car quickly drove to the police station and then came to a smooth stop.
Before going in, Patricia adjusted her clothes and looked at Jessica, "You have to keep your promise. As long as I turn myself in, you'll spare Jack."
Jessica remained silent.
Patricia could only assume she agreed.
Patricia knew that, at this moment, she had no leverage to negotiate with Jessica.
As she walked forward, Patricia kept looking back, shouting, "Jessica, show some mercy."
"Jessica, I've never begged anyone in my life, but this time I'm begging you."
"Jessica."
Patricia's voice gradually faded away.
This time, Jessica had made a big gamble.
There was no evidence of Jack's crimes in that folder. The evidence was planted by Gabriel himself, and even Oscar didn't know.
She teamed up with Oscar for this act because she was sure Jack was guilty.
She was also betting that, no matter how ruthless Patricia was, she still had a shred of motherly love and care for Jack.
Fortunately, Jessica won the bet.
Patricia believed it and voluntarily turned herself in.
Jessica didn't leave; she sat in the car patiently and silently, waiting for over an hour.
Her phone rang, and a relaxed and relieved voice came from the other end, "Mrs. Jessica Walton, Patricia has confessed. We've completed the record, and everything is settled. This time, we can get justice for Mrs. Danielle Walton."
"Okay, thank you for your hard work."
Putting down the phone, Jessica rubbed her temples and said softly, "Let's go back."
The outcome was ideal. After Patricia turned herself in, she would receive the punishment she deserved.
Hiring a hitman to kill someone is no small crime. Even if Jack had connections, it wouldn't make a difference. She believed in the law, and the law would not be lenient.
Although she had achieved the result she wanted, she didn't feel any joy.
Sending Patricia to prison was never what she wanted.
What she wanted was a harmonious, happy family.
Nothing was more important than the health of family members.
If possible, she would rather Patricia live well as long as Gabriel and Danielle could be healthy.
But could everything go back to the way it was?
Jessica, exhausted, closed her eyes. She propped her head with one hand and soon began to doze off.
When they arrived at The Walton Manor, Jessica was still dozing.
Louie was about to wake her up, but he noticed she was asleep.
Putting his hand to his lips, Louie softly instructed the people around, "Move quietly. You all can go back; I'll take care of Mrs. Walton."
"Okay."
After everyone left, Louie took off his jacket and gently covered Jessica with it.
Then Louie sat in the driver's seat, quietly waiting.
Jessica groggily opened her eyes an hour later.
When she saw the jacket on her, her first reaction was that Gabriel had returned.
"Honey."
Jessica sat up, eagerly calling out.
But she received no response.
At this moment, Louie turned around and asked softly, "Mrs. Walton, you're awake."
"Yes."
Seeing him, Jessica became more conscious. She looked down at the jacket on her and asked, "Is this your jacket?"
"It is."
Jessica handed it back to him and said, "Thank you for your concern, but don't do this again."
Because of his abruptness, she had a moment of false hope.
The disappointment after hope was hard to bear.
"Okay, Mrs. Walton, I understand."
"I'm going back now. You should rest early, too."
With that, Jessica walked inside.
Normally, at this time, Gilbert and Freddy would be sound asleep, so Jessica moved quietly. But as soon as she opened the door, Gilbert and Freddy suddenly sat up from the bed, looking at her with sleepy eyes.
Their soft voices, confused yet adorable, said, "Mommy, you're finally back."
"Now we can be at ease."
Before Jessica could respond, Gilbert and Freddy closed their eyes and went back to sleep.
They concerned Jessica. Now that they saw her in person, they were at ease and could sleep soundly.
Jessica tucked them in and leaned over to kiss their foreheads.
"I'm sorry, my babies, I've been neglecting you lately."
"I'm here with you."
The next day, news of Patricia's arrest was everywhere, but Jessica never expected it. She didn't wait for Jack, but she did wait for someone else.
