Chapter 254 This Time, Let Me Love You

A stream of hot tears flowed from her eyes. Jessica closed her eyes and trembled as she replied, "Thank you!"

She was grateful for his straightforwardness and his agreement.

"But I still have something to say," Gabriel continued. "You're right. All these years, it has always been you loving me, giving to me, and I've taken all those for granted.

"So this time, let me be the one to chase you; let me be the one to love you, okay?"

The reason he agreed to the breakup was to give their relationship a new start and a new definition.

From now on, it would be his turn to show her love.

He wanted to make up for all the years she had loved him.

Her tears fell like rain. Her lips trembled, and she couldn't say a word.

He turned her to face him and gently wiped away her tears. "I know I'm not being a gentleman. Right now, I'm even a bit despicable. Jessica, if you agree with it, I'll agree to the breakup.

"But if you don't agree, I will never agree to the breakup.

"Agreeing to the breakup is just to give you more time to process our relationship. But Jessica, you need to understand one thing for sure. That is no matter what; I will never let you leave me."

"Gabriel," Jessica cried out in protest, "you can't be so domineering."

He gave a bitter smile. "Well, there's no other way. I am just domineering, especially with you."

He would never let her go, not for the rest of his life.

"So, do you agree? If you agree, I'll let you go back." He remained domineering.

She neither shook her head nor nodded.

He answered for her, "Then I'll take that as a yes."

When Jessica got home, Grace was coming out of the house with a suitcase.

"Grace, where are you going?" Jessica asked.

"It's an urgent business trip," Grace answered.

"Do you need me to take you?" Jessica asked.

Grace shook her head. "No, Linda has already arranged a ride for me."

"Be safe," Jessica said.

"Okay, don't worry about me," Grace said and then left.

Work was tiring, and her body hadn't fully recovered.

Jessica went to sleep right after taking a shower.

Early the next morning, just as she got up, the doorbell rang.

Jessica wondered who could be visiting so early.

Opening the door, she saw a well-maintained woman in her forties, Tessa Mitchell, standing outside with a smile. "Are you Ms. Morgan?"

"Yes, I am. And you are?" Jessica was puzzled.

Tessa introduced herself with a smile, "My name is Tessa Mitchell. I'm your neighbor and also the nutritionist Mr. Walton hired specifically for you. From now on, I'll be responsible for your daily meals."

Jessica was stunned and took a while to react.

"Gabriel hired you?" she asked in disbelief.

"Yes, Mr. Walton specifically hired me to serve you," Tessa answered.

Tessa continued to explain, "Don't worry, Mr. Walton instructed me not to disturb you. I just need to prepare and deliver your meals. If you're working at the hospital, I'll personally deliver the meals there.

"This is today's breakfast. Try it and let me know if you like it. If there's anything you don't like, just tell me. My phone number and Facebook are inside."

After closing the door and looking at the beautifully packaged breakfast on the table, Jessica was still in a daze.

When did Gabriel arrange all this?

And were nutritionists so high-end now?

It was practically personal service.

She immediately called Gabriel.

But after three calls, no one answered.

She then called Oscar, who answered quickly. "Ms. Morgan, what can I do for you?"

She said, "I want to talk to Gabriel. I've called him several times, but no one answered."

Oscar replied, "Mr. Walton is busy and not very convenient right now. You can tell me if you need anything."

Jessica finally spoke, "My new neighbor said she's a nutritionist you hired for me. Is that true?"

He answered, "Yes, Ms. Morgan. Mr. Walton personally selected her after a rigorous screening process."

She pressed, "When did I say I needed a nutritionist?"

He answered, "Dr. Schneider mentioned during your last check-up that your body is a bit weak and needs proper nourishment. Mr. Walton was concerned, so he asked me to arrange it."

She pressed, "And what about the house next door? I remember someone living there. How did you get that house?"

Oscar chuckled and continued, "Ms. Morgan, that was that was a simple matter. Mr. Walton purchased that house."

"What did you say?" Jessica gasped, her breath catching in her throat.

It was an entire house, and he just bought it like that.

Feeling her shock, Oscar thought it best to be discreet.

As for the other two houses on that floor that Mr. Walton had also purchased, he thought it best to let Mr. Walton tell her himself.

After a silence, she said,  "Please tell Gabriel that I can take care of myself and don't need a nutritionist."

"Sorry, Ms. Morgan, I'm afraid I can't pass that message on." Oscar said.

Jessica fell silent.

Didn't he just say to tell him anything, and he would pass it on to Gabriel?

And now, just a few minutes later, he changed his mind.

Then he continued, "Ms. Morgan, don't misunderstand. It's not that I won't pass it on, but Mr. Walton is currently asleep in a hospital bed. He's very weak, and I don't want to wake him."

Oscar was smart enough not to mention Gabriel's illness directly but emphasized the words "hospital bed."

He enunciated those words so clearly that it would be strange if she didn't hear them.

Unable to hold back, Jessica asked, "What's wrong with him?"

When she left yesterday, wasn't he fine?

"Sorry, Ms. Morgan, Mr. Walton didn't want me to tell you. It's better if you come and see for yourself," Oscar answered.

Jessica fell silent.

She felt that Oscar had become more cunning recently, probably because he had been around Gabriel for too long.

Before hanging up, Oscar voluntarily revealed, "Mr. Walton is in the VIP ward on the seventh floor of the hospital where you work."

In the morning, after finishing some urgent work, Tina nudged Jessica. "Hey, what are you thinking about?"

Jessica shook her head. "Nothing."

Then Tina asked, "We've been busy these days, and you don't look well, so I didn't ask. How are things with your boyfriend? Have you made up?"

Jessica said, "No, I don't think so."

They officially broke up yesterday.

Since they broke up, how could they make up?

Tina continued, "Then why has he been so attentive, sending food and drinks to our entire department these past two days? Oh, by the way, I had something to do at the hospital last night and saw him admitted.

"But I don't really recognize his face, just his outline. I might be wrong."

"When did this happen? Why was he admitted?" Jessica was anxious.

"Around ten o'clock, I think. He came in a hurry. I don't know why, but it didn't look... light." Before Tina could finish her sentence, Jessica said, "Cover for me for a while."

Then, Jessica disappeared like the wind.

Tina smiled faintly. It seemed Jessica still cared.

Jessica quickly went to the seventh floor. After asking at the front desk, she immediately found out which room he was in.

She walked quickly to his room and was about to knock when she stopped.

They had broken up.

What was she doing now?

After all, no matter what his condition was, she had no right to care or worry.

Lowering her hand, she turned to leave.

Suddenly, Oscar came out and raised his voice, deliberately saying loudly, "Ms. Morgan, you're here. Why are you standing at the door? Come in and sit."

Jessica fell silent.

She felt Oscar did it on purpose.

The next moment, Gabriel also said loudly, "Jessica, did you come specifically to see me?"
