Chapter 664 Entering the Game 1

Grace wanted to refuse, but it was too late.

Cindy affectionately linked arms with her, showing no intention of letting her go.

In the end, Grace was pulled into the private room by Cindy.

As soon as the door opened and they stepped inside, Grace was overwhelmed by the thick smoke filling the room, its smell permeating everywhere.

Instinctively, Grace waved her hand lightly in front of her nose, but the smell was so strong that it had no effect.

Cindy, with a radiant smile, spoke in a sweet, melodious voice like wind chimes, "Everyone, look who I brought with me!"

Hearing her words, several men who were eating happily looked up towards the door.

"Grace?"

In shocked surprise, the men exchanged glances.

Cindy immediately laughed and said, "Yes, we are really lucky today. I just ran into Grace as soon as I stepped out. Grace used to be very famous."

"Aren't several of you always dreaming of casting Grace in a film? Why not ask her today? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." She added.

The directors looked at each other knowingly and then all smiled at Grace.

"Come, Grace, have a sit."

"Waiter, bring another set of utensils."

Grace had a headache; she wanted to refuse.

Although she had decided to return to the entertainment industry, she wasn't prepared for these social engagements.

In the past, she hated these social gatherings the most.

Linda was different; she always managed these things perfectly.

So when Grace decided to make a comeback, she immediately thought of Linda.

But now, without Linda around and Grace having little experience in socializing, she felt flustered being surrounded by so many people.

With everyone at the table being so enthusiastic, Grace had no room to refuse.

In the end, she sat down next to Cindy.

"Grace, are the news reports online from a few days ago true? Are you planning to make a comeback?" Cindy was the first to ask.

Grace tightened her grip on the wine glass, thought for a moment, and nodded.

"Yes, I love acting. Being a good actress has always been my pursuit and dream. So I do have plans in that direction."

Upon hearing this, Cindy immediately grabbed her hand and excitedly exclaimed, "Wow, Grace, that's great."

"Mr. Harper just approached me about a film. He's been struggling to find the right actress for the second female lead."

Then, Cindy looked at the director at the table, Caleb Harper, her tone soft and slightly coquettish.

"Mr. Harper, look, isn't Grace the perfect fit for the second female lead?"

"I've read the script; the second female lead is stunning and skilled in dance. It's like the role was tailor-made for Grace. I think you don't need to look any further; just give the role to Grace, okay?"

"Look at the strength of my bond with Grace. By adding her to the cast, we can enhance the sisterly connection, cutting down on publicity expenses. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement."Caleb took a sip of his drink and spoke in a deep voice.

"Cindy, you always know what to say. You've analyzed it so thoroughly that it's hard for me to refuse!"

Caleb, holding a cigarette, nodded happily.

However, his eyes, deep and meaningful, were fixed on Grace.

Cindy was so excited that she couldn't contain herself and quickly claimed, "Grace, this is great. Now we can act in the same production."

After speaking, Cindy realized something was off.

Cindy whispered, "I'm sorry, Grace. Are you not happy about this?"

"I know you've always played the lead roles, and suddenly playing the second lead might be hard to accept, but..."

Grace understood what Cindy left unsaid.

Indeed, she had been embroiled in scandals back then.

Moreover, she had been out of the entertainment industry for years, and the industry changes rapidly.

Even without scandals, once-famous people who leave the industry for a few years are often forgotten.

"Cindy, it's not that. I really appreciate you."

After all, the table was full of directors, and Grace didn't want to embarrass Cindy.

Besides, Cindy was trying to help her.

After chatting for a while, the table quickly became lively.

When men gather, it's usually about two things: drinking and smoking.

The room was filled with smoke, and Grace endured it with all her patience.

But her delicate, beautiful eyebrows couldn't help but furrow.

Suddenly, a voice came to Grace's ear, "Mr. Harper, you're not smoking anymore? Why did you put it out? Don't you like the smell?"

Caleb shook his head and smiled, "No, you lack insight. Didn't you notice that Grace next to me doesn't like the smell of smoke?"

As soon as he said this, everyone immediately understood and they ceased smoking.

Some threw their cigarettes into the trash, while others put them out immediately.

"Mr. Harper is so considerate."

"Absolutely, Mr. Harper is not only charming but also so gentle and considerate towards women. Men like Mr. Harper are rare."

"If Mr. Harper weren't married, there would be countless young women who would adore him."

The table was filled with compliments and warmth.

During the meal, the hierarchy of status became instantly clear.

Grace wasn't very familiar with Caleb.

In the past, many scripts were first reviewed by Linda, and only those she selected would be passed on to Grace.

Apart from acting, Grace never paid much attention to social interactions.

With Quentin helping her now and then, she didn't have to worry.

So, except for a few famous directors, Grace wasn't familiar with other directors.

With the smoking stopped, the focus shifted to drinking.

"Grace, come on, it's a rare opportunity. Let's have a drink."

Sitting at a drinking table, it was inevitable to be toasted.

But Grace's alcohol tolerance was surprisingly poor.

Forget whiskey; even red wine could easily make her drunk.

Quentin used to remind her repeatedly never to drink.

Once she got drunk, she would lose consciousness.

But today, for some reason, the scene of Caroline's birthday party flashed in Grace's mind.

Especially the image of Quentin and Caroline holding hands, with Caroline leaning in to kiss him, made Grace suddenly feel like drinking.

She suddenly thought that getting drunk might be a good idea.

At least she wouldn't have to think about anything, and she could go home and sleep.

Seeing this, Cindy quickly said, "Mr. Morrison, you might not know, but Grace has a low tolerance for alcohol. She gets drunk easily. How about I drink this for her?"

Director Jason Morrison insisted, "No, this drink is for Grace. If you want to drink, we can have a good drink later."

Being refused, Cindy's smile immediately froze on her face.

In an instant, Cindy was in a dilemma.

In the end, she could only withdraw her hand reluctantly.

Just as the table fell into extreme awkwardness, Grace stood up and took the drink.

"Thank you, Mr. Morrison, for appreciating my abilities. I'll drink this."
