Chapter 574 Actually Very Jealous 3
Jessica saw Gabriel.
Gabriel, however, did not see her.
Gently putting down the clothes, Jessica continued picking out baby items.
"Louie, do you think this bottle is good?"
"Louie, do you think the red stroller looks better, or the yellow one?"
"Louie, that strawberry baby outfit is so pretty, can you help me get it?"
Meanwhile, Gabriel followed at a distance, always able to hear Jessica's questions one after another.
And Louie was exceptionally patient.
After about an hour, Jessica left the baby store.
Gabriel couldn't hold back any longer and rushed in front of her.
"After checking and picking out clothes for the baby. You must be hungry. The restaurant on the fifth floor used to be your favorite. Shall we go eat?"
After asking, he anxiously waited for Jessica's answer.
"Okay!"
Nodding, Jessica walked ahead.
At the restaurant, Gabriel specifically chose a window seat.
A gentle breeze blew, and the view was excellent, with a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery outside the window.
Gabriel quickly ordered the food.
All of it was Jessica's favorite.
The food arrived quickly, all the dishes were served in about ten minutes.
"Is all the food here?"
At that moment, Jessica suddenly asked.
"Yes, it's all here."
Jessica put down her fork, her face conveying a profound sadness.
Louie spoke up, "Mr. Walton, these are all of Mrs. Walton's favorite dishes, but her blood sugar and blood pressure are high. Dr. Nichols advised her to eat lightly and control her sugar intake."
"Even bread needs to be controlled, and things like cake are completely off-limits."
Gabriel's hand, which was adding food to Jessica's plate, suddenly stopped in mid-air.
Quickly, he put down his fork and immediately said, "I'll order some dishes you can eat right now."
Jessica looked at Louie. "Let Louie go, Louie knows my recent tastes."
Gabriel's expression gradually stiffened.
He moved his lips but couldn't make a sound.
The entire meal was eaten in silence.
No one spoke.
After the meal, Jessica took the initiative to say, "I'm a bit tired, I want to go back and sleep."
When going downstairs, they entered the elevator together.
Originally, the space inside was large enough for the three of them to stand side by side.
But on the fourth floor, a large crowd suddenly surged in, pushing and shoving as they crowded together.
"Watch out!"
Gabriel shouted as he turned his back to tightly protect Jessica in his arms.
In doing so, his back was hit hard by someone.
More importantly, the bag of the person behind him contained something hard and sharp.
So when Gabriel shielded her, that hard object inevitably jabbed into his back.
His back wound had not been properly treated, only some medication was applied.
Plus, he hadn't rested well these past few days, so the wound kept reopening.
The heavy blow just now left him in unbearable pain.
Moreover, Gabriel could already feel the wetness on his back. If he guessed correctly, the wound had torn open, and blood was already flowing out.
Gabriel gritted his teeth against the pain, took a deep breath to steady himself, and immediately looked at Jessica with concern."Are you hurt?"
Jessica shook her head. "I'm fine."
Gabriel released his tightly clenched teeth, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. "That's good."
Finally, out of the elevator, Gabriel's entire back was already stained with blood.
And a huge pain spread across Gabriel's back.
Gabriel was very careful, backing out of the elevator.
And his shirt was dark-colored, so it wasn't too noticeable for now.
At the entrance, Gabriel looked at Louie and said, "I have some things to take care of. You take Mrs. Walton home."
"Mr. Walton?" Louie was puzzled.
Gabriel gave a bitter smile. "You take her. She probably doesn't want to ride in my car."
Jessica pursed her lips, her hand clutching her bag tightening and loosening.
Finally, she turned around, and Louie immediately followed.
After they left, Gabriel immediately went to his car.
Once inside, Gabriel reached back to touch his wound.
Sure enough, his back was covered in blood.
Luckily, Gabriel left quickly, not letting her find out.
Otherwise, she would be worried.
Gabriel didn't want to see her cry at all.
For the rest of his life, Gabriel just wanted to make her smile, to live carefree and happy every day.
Stepping on the gas, Gabriel quickly drove to the hospital.
The doctor Derek Webb looked at the wound and suggested he be hospitalized.
Gabriel shook his head. "No need, just clean the wound and give me some medication."
"Mr. Walton, your wound hasn't healed, and it's been repeatedly tearing these past few days. The wound is at risk of infection. You need to be hospitalized for treatment."
Gabriel insisted on not being hospitalized.
After treating the wound, he called Jonah, "Are you back? I'm at the hospital."
"We're back. You can come to see your mom now."
Hanging up the phone, Gabriel rushed to the elevator.
There were too many people waiting for the elevator, so he took the stairs.
When he returned, he had planned to come to the hospital to see Danielle right after seeing Jessica.
But he found out that Jonah had taken Danielle out of town for treatment.
Since they were coming back in a couple of days, Jonah told him not to come, so he had been waiting.
Ascending to the seventh floor, when he pushed open the door, all of Gabriel's attention was on Danielle.
However, as soon as Gabriel entered, he was suddenly hit hard in the chest.
The next moment, Jonah tightly hugged him.
Jonah's weathered hands gently cupped Gabriel's cheeks, trembling uncontrollably.
His eyes were filled with tears. "Gabriel, let me see, are you back?"
"Yes." Gabriel nodded.
Looking down, Gabriel saw that half of Jonah's hair had turned white.
Gabriel remembered that Jonah's hair used to have no white, not looking like a man nearing sixty at all.
But now, in just six months, half of Jonah's hair had gone white, making him look like he'd aged a decade overnight.
More importantly, Gabriel remembered Jonah always being tall, now barely reaching Gabriel's shoulder.
Choking up, Gabriel called out the title he hadn't used in many years, "Dad!"
Hearing this, Jonah was completely shocked.
Jonah hadn't expected it at all, standing there dumbfounded for a while before reacting.
Finally, Jonah looked up, his trembling eyes fixed on Gabriel. "What did you just call me?"
"Dad!"
Gabriel didn't hold back.
Gabriel opened his lips, more firmly and loudly calling out.
This time, Jonah truly heard it.
His hands trembled even more, Jonah patted Gabriel's shoulder firmly and said, "Alright, Gabriel!"
