Chapter 205 Diana's Ruthlessness and Cruelty
Diana answered, "Hey, is that Jessica?"
When a woman's voice came through the phone, Mike slapped Carter across the face, glaring at him.
Just as he was about to toss the phone, Diana's voice came through again, saying, "Jessica, you must be looking for Gabriel. Hold on, I'll get him."
Then, Diana hung up.
Call him? No way.
Carter, holding his face, pleaded, "Mike, did you hear that? She mentioned Gabriel. This phone really belongs to him. My daughter is his wife."
Mike remarked angrily, "So what? A guy who leaves his wife to mess around probably wouldn't care if something happened to her. He'd just marry his mistress."
Carter insisted, "No, Mr. Gonzalez, it's not like that."
Carter explained desperately, "My daughter and son-in-law love each other. The Walton family likes her a lot. Gabriel's just fooling around. The Waltons are a big family; they won't abandon her."
Seeing Mike wasn't rejecting his words, Carter continued, "If you take my daughter, Gabriel will pay up. Not just $200,000, even $2 million, he'd give it willingly."
Carter begged desperately, "Mr. Gonzalez, please, just spare me this time."
Mike frowned, staring at the ceiling.
No one knew what he was thinking, but after about three minutes, he let go of Carter's collar and smoothed out the wrinkles.
Mike said, "Listen, our debt is settled. My condition is you hand her over to me."
Carter was overjoyed, saying, "Alright, Mr. Gonzalez, that's great. But you have to keep your word and not ask me for $200,000 anymore, and don't have anyone cut off my arms or legs."
Mike reassured him, "Of course, I always keep my word."
Carter said happily, "Good, then Jessica is yours to deal with, Mr. Gonzalez. I'll be leaving now."
Mike assured, "Alright, go ahead."
After Carter left, someone behind Mike asked, "Mr. Gonzalez, is this reliable? Kidnapping isn't easy."
Mike smirked as he said, "Remember, if it works, we get the money and make a big profit. If it fails, the kidnapping and extortion have nothing to do with us. It's the woman's father who kidnapped his own daughter to extort money from his son-in-law."
Mike insinuated, "Don't you think this news would be sensational?"
The person remarked, "I see, haha, Mr. Gonzalez, your methods are brilliant. You are truly smart."
Mike immediately patted his head, He scolded, "Then learn it, you idiot."
The person replied immediately, "Yes, Mike."
Gabriel had just returned to the hospital room and hadn't picked up his phone when he noticed something was off.
His gaze fell coldly on Diana's face on the bed, He asked sternly, "Did you check my phone?"
"No!" Diana answered and wouldn't admit it.
Gabriel picked up his phone, unlocked it, and searched carefully.
At that moment, Diana's heart was in her throat.
She was terrified.
Fortunately, she had deleted the recent call log.
So even if he suspected, there was no evidence to accuse her.
Just as Gabriel couldn't find anything unusual on his phone and Diana relaxed, his voice cut through the air, "Diana, don't try to deceive me. Did you check my phone?"
Without evidence, Diana answered even more decisively.
Gabriel's brows furrowed deeply, his icy voice like a bucket of cold water, mercilessly pouring over her.
Gabriel remarked, "Diana, I gave you two chances, but you didn't tell the truth. You've disappointed me greatly."
Diana bit her lip, looking pitiful.
But Gabriel found her appearance extremely irritating.
His mind was filled with thoughts of Jessica.
Since that call yesterday, he hadn't been in touch with Jessica for over ten hours.
Since he and Jessica became a couple, except for the time he was unconscious, they had never gone this long without contact.
Not only phone calls, but there were also no messages on Facebook.
Diana insisted, "Gabriel, I really didn't lie to you. I was just resting in bed."
Gabriel knew that without evidence, Diana wouldn't admit it.
He unlocked his phone and said firmly, "From the time my phone had 1% battery and was left here to charge, to the time I just picked it up, it was two minutes. Normally, the battery should have been around 36%, but mine is less than 30%. It's clear someone took it off the charger."
Gabriel pressed, "Do you still want to keep lying?"
Only then, with all the evidence in front of her, did Diana bite her lip and pitifully beg for forgiveness, "I'm sorry, Gabriel. I just checked the time on your phone."
She added, "I didn't want you to misunderstand, so I didn't dare to admit it."
Gabriel looked at her coldly, and said, "Diana, I appreciate that you saved me and your selflessness. I admit, I owe you, and I can't make up for it."
He stated sternly, "But I said, no matter what, I won't use myself as a condition for compensation."
He took out a card from his wallet and placed it on the table, and said, "Here's 2.5 million dollars and I can buy you any house or car if you want."
Gabriel added, "Even if you want to open a dance academy, I can help you achieve that."
"But," his voice was low and heavy.
Gabriel still looked up, sincerely and earnestly at Diana, and reiterated, "This is all I can give you. Beyond this, I can't give you more."
Gabriel declared, "Jessica is my future wife, my one and only wife."
He continued sternly, "I won't wrong her in any way because of you. It's not fair to her. I won't owe Jessica and make her feel wronged because of you."
Gabriel placed the card in Diana's hand, seriously saying, "Think it over."
With that, he got up and left the room.
He had just gone to the front desk to handle the discharge procedures. The doctor told him that Diana's body had recovered enough to be discharged.
However, before Gabriel could leave the room, just as he reached the door, Diana suddenly shouted, "Gabriel!"
He straightened his back but didn't turn around.
Diana asked desperately, "Is this really what you want? Do you really want me to leave you?"
Gabriel still didn't turn back. His profile was bathed in the bright morning sunlight.
He smirked, confidently and firmly replied,"Yes, leave me, the farther, the better."
