Chapter 606 Alone Together, Heart Racing
Vincent packed up and drove Tina home.
She was torn between sitting in the front passenger seat or the back when getting into the car.
Vincent said, "It's more comfortable in the front, you should sit there."
"Okay."
In the car, soothing music played softly.
A gentle breeze brushed against them, making it quite pleasant.
Vincent skillfully drove with both hands on the wheel, his eyes fixed straight ahead, leaving Tina with only a side profile.
Even with just that side profile, she felt a flutter of joy in her heart.
She felt like a young girl experiencing her first crush, sitting beside him with nervous anticipation.
When they arrived at the apartment complex, Vincent took the initiative to get Tina's things from the trunk.
"Is it heavy? Do you need me to carry it up for you?" Vincent asked.
Tina tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "Vincent, thank you so much!"
"You're welcome."
Vincent carried the items to her door.
But he only placed them on the doorstep and didn't go inside.
Tina wrestled with herself for a while before gathering the courage to say, "Vincent, if you're not in a hurry, would you like to come in for a glass of water?"
"Sure!"
They went inside, and Tina went to pour some warm water.
Turning around, she saw his tall, upright figure standing in the living room, and her heart suddenly felt a bit surreal, as if everything in front of her was a beautiful dream, too good to be true.
Perhaps lost in her thoughts, Tina was a bit distracted as she walked over.
"Vincent, here's your water..."
She had barely finished her sentence when she suddenly lost her balance, tripping over something and pitching forward.
"Careful."
Vincent reacted quickly, reaching out to steady her.
Tina was quite frightened.
Thankfully, he caught her, or she might have fallen flat on the ground, which would have been very embarrassing.
"Vincent, thank you!"
As soon as Tina finished speaking, she saw Vincent turn to the side and clear his throat, "You should change your clothes first."
Why would she need to change her clothes?
Tina was puzzled.
She looked down and realized that the water had spilled almost entirely on her, soaking her white sheer blouse and making her undergarments faintly visible.
She was mortified.
"Sorry, I'll go change right away."
Leaving that sentence, Tina quickly ran to her bedroom.
Even after closing the door, her heart was still pounding wildly.
'Tina, you were so embarrassing just now.'
'When will you ever stop being so clumsy?'
'You're so stupid. Vincent probably won't like you. He probably prefers smarter girls.'
After berating herself, Tina quickly changed her clothes and went back out.
After finishing his water, Vincent didn't stay long.
As she saw him off, Tina's eyes showed some reluctance.
"Vincent, I..." She started to speak but didn't dare to continue.
"If you need any help, just let me know. You're Jessica's friend, so you're my friend too."
Tina's long eyelashes drooped, and she felt a mix of emotions.
She should have known from the start that he was helping her only because she was Jessica's friend.
But hearing him say it out loud still made her feel a bit disappointed.
Quickly collecting herself, Tina said, "I've been meaning to thank you. What happened the other day, I appreciate it. If you hadn't arrived in time, I might have..."
Thinking of those terrifying memories, she bit her lip and couldn't continue.
Vincent gently patted her shoulder, "Don't think too much about it, and don't feel burdened. It wasn't your fault."
"In my eyes, you've always been that beautiful, lively, and pure girl."
"Really?" Tina couldn't help but ask excitedly.
He nodded, "Of course. So don't be down because of this. We need to learn to look forward."
Tina's heart surged with emotion, unable to calm down for a long time.
For so long, she hadn't even dared to cry hard.
But at that moment, perhaps because she was releasing her pent-up emotions, or maybe she felt a weight lifted off her heart.
She suddenly couldn't hold back anymore, and tears started streaming down her face.
"Vincent, thank you!"
"You have no idea how important your words are to me. Thank you, truly."
Tina cried hard, tears flowing freely.
At that moment, the elevator door opened, and a neighbor stepped out.
Seeing Tina and Vincent standing face to face, especially noticing Tina crying so hard, the elder quickly said, "Young man, your girlfriend is crying so sadly, you should comfort her!"
Vincent quickly explained, "I'm not..."
The elder continued, "Even if you didn't make her cry, you should comfort her. Such a beautiful girlfriend, aren't you afraid someone else will take her away?"
Under the elder's gaze, Vincent couldn't explain.
So he had no choice but to walk over to Tina.
He reached out, wiping away her tears, and said, "If I said something wrong that upset you, I apologize."
Tina was deeply moved.
Especially seeing him wipe her tears, her heart was racing, and her cheeks flushed almost instantly.
"Why is your face red? Are you not feeling well? Or is something wrong?" Vincent asked.
Tina shook her head, "No, I'm fine."
Only she knew why her face was red.
Even after he left, his figure gradually fading away, Tina's heart was still racing.
The smile on her lips grew wider like ripples spreading out.
Time flew by, and Stella was almost a month old.
Jonah and Gabriel planned to throw a big party to celebrate Stella's birth.
Stella's birth was not easy, and Jessica had gone through a lot of pain, so they wanted to take this opportunity to reward Jessica. Plus, they hadn't thrown a party for Freddy and Gilbert's births, so they were even more attentive now.
And there was one more important reason.
The Walton family had been through a lot of troubling events, one after another.
Stella's party was a joyous occasion, and they hoped to use this celebration to dispel all the bad luck and misfortune.
So, Stella's party was being prepared with great care.
However, on the eve of the party, Jessica suddenly received a phone call.
"Hello, is this Jessica?" A very unfamiliar voice.
"Yes, this is. Who's calling?"
"This is Isaac. I want to talk to you about your father."
