Chapter 702 Childhood Secrets 1

Gabriel went upstairs just as Jessica was getting ready for bed.

"Honey, wait a minute."

"What's up?"

"Quentin wants to see you."

"Now?" Jessica was quite surprised.

"He drove over specifically because he wants to ask you something."

Jessica guessed that what Quentin wanted to know was related to Grace.

"Alright then."

Jessica nodded lightly and prepared to go out.

But before she could open the door, Gabriel pulled her back.

"Honey, don't you think you're forgetting something?"

"What did I forget?" Jessica was puzzled.

She looked around before she finally understood. She stood on tiptoe and planted a kiss on Gabriel's face.

"That's not what I meant, but I'll gladly accept it."

"Then what is it?"

Gabriel opened the closet, removed some clothes from a hanger, and pushed Jessica into the changing room.

"You're not allowed to meet men other than me in your pajamas. Change your clothes before going down."

Jessica smiled silently and cooperatively went to change her clothes.

When Jessica spotted Quentin, a smile broke across her face, despite her efforts to maintain a polite demeanor."Ask what you need to ask quickly; I'm about to go to bed."

"Thank you!" Quentin's words were sincere.

"No need for pleasantries, just ask directly!"

Quentin began seriously, "Today, I talked to Grace about marriage. I didn't give her the answer she wanted, and she was very disappointed. I want to know if marriage is particularly important to her."

Jessica struggled to keep her temper in check, forcing herself to maintain a calm tone as she navigated the conversation."Mr. Taft, marriage is very important to any woman, not just Grace. For women, all the beauty and promises of love are about hoping to marry the one they love."

"Of course, you're right. Marriage is particularly important to Grace, even more so than to others."

"Why?"

Taking a long breath, Jessica continued.

"Because Grace had a very unfortunate childhood and a very broken family, she longs for a happy family more than anyone else."

"In college, she told me that her biggest dream was to marry someone she loves, have a child, and form a happy family."

Just as Quentin was about to ask another question, Jessica immediately stopped him.

"Quentin, I've never mentioned this before because it's the pain of Grace's life. She doesn't want anyone to know, and every time it's brought up, it hurts her deeply."

"And today, the reason I'm willing to speak is that I see a glimmer of hope in you. I hope you truly love Grace, want to be good to her, want to marry her, and give her warmth and care."

"This is all I can tell you. If you love her and want to cherish her, you can investigate further. But if you don't intend to marry her, please don't disturb her."

"Because it will reopen her healed wounds, and the pain is unbearable, worse than death."

After Jessica left, Quentin stood there in a daze.

Although Jessica didn't describe it in detail, from her tone and expression, and some fragmented descriptions, he already felt uneasy and deeply saddened.

What exactly did Grace experience in her childhood?

When Gabriel caught up, Jessica was standing in front of the large floor-to-ceiling window, lost in thought.

Jessica crossed her arms and looked at the thousands of lights in front of her, silent for a long time.

She didn't even notice Gabriel standing behind her.

"Honey!"

It wasn't until Gabriel spoke that Jessica turned around and hugged him tightly.

"Honey." Jessica buried her head in his chest, her voice particularly soft.

Jessica's mood was very low, and she seemed especially sad.

"Is it about Grace?"

"Yes."

"Can you tell me about it?" Gabriel gently stroked her hair.

Jessica then raised her head.

She slightly opened her lips, about to speak.

However, as soon as she recalled the past scenes, her eyes turned red.

Then, she couldn't control herself at all.

Tears quickly filled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, honey. I want to be alone for a while. You go and entertain Quentin first."

When Gabriel went downstairs, Quentin hadn't left yet.

He walked up, patted Quentin's shoulder, and said very seriously, "Grace's situation might be worse than you think. Jessica was just upstairs crying very sadly."

"Jessica is right; if you haven't thought about marrying Grace, don't easily investigate her past."

"If you investigate, you have to take responsibility."

Quentin couldn't hold back.

That night, he gave orders, not only to his people but also asked Willie to find a professional team to investigate simultaneously.

Early the next morning, he called Willie to his office.

"Mr. Taft, what are your orders?"

"The manager of the mall, Mr. Riddick, has him come up to see me."

"Yes."

Ten minutes later, Alphonse Riddick arrived at Quentin's office.

"Mr. Riddick, right?"

"Yes, Mr. Taft, what are your needs from me?"

Quentin reached into the drawer and took out a poster, pointing at the design on it with his fingers.

"This ring, which has always been displayed as the store's treasure, bring it to me now."

"Mr. Taft, you..." Alphonse was so shocked that he could barely speak.

"Is there a problem?"

Quentin just looked up and raised an eyebrow slightly.

"No problem, I'll get it right away."

When Alphonse returned to Quentin's office, he was followed by a dozen bodyguards.

Because the diamond ring was so valuable, there couldn't be any risk.

"Mr. Taft, as you ordered, I've brought it."

"Alright, I'll keep the ring. Replace it with another for display. You may go."

Alphonse was even more so now, his eyes wide with disbelief, "Mr. Taft, am I right in guessing that you intend to use this ring to propose to Ms. Stewart..."

"You talk too much." Quentin gave him a cold glance.

Alphonse immediately fell silent.

"Go out."

"Yes, Mr. Taft."

Next, Willie came in.

Quentin was holding the ring, examining it carefully.

The pink diamond sparkled brilliantly in the sunlight, looking extremely beautiful.

Besides the large and exquisite rare pink diamond, the entire ring's design was also very unique.

"This is 'The One'?" Quentin asked.

Willie nodded seriously, "Yes, a pure natural pink diamond, perfectly cut, without any impurities. There are only a few like it in the world."

"Do you think it's beautiful?" Quentin suddenly asked.

"Of course."

"Do you think she'll like it?" Quentin asked again.

This time, Willie was stunned.

After a long while, he said something he would regret deeply.

"Mr. Taft, do you mean Ms. Morgan or Ms. Stewart?"
