Chapter 283 Gabriel, Are you Feeling Uncomfortable?

"What did you just say?" Diana's eyes went wide, totally floored. "How the hell am I supposed to get out? I don't care, you better find that key right now and get me outta here."

Sarah clutched her phone, her hands all sweaty, and started bawling. "I'm sorry, Diana. I can't get the key. The butler has it, and if I ask for it, we're screwed."

"What?" Diana was about to lose it.

She went off, "Sarah, are you freaking kidding me? I've never met anyone as dumb as you. I'm warning you, figure something out now. If I can't get out, you're in deep trouble too. Don't forget, you gave Gabriel that soup. And you planted those drugs."

Even Sarah, as clueless as she was, realized she was being played.

But right now, she and Diana were stuck together, needing to get Diana out, or they were both toast.

In the side bedroom, Jessica had just finished her shower.

The room was warm, so she was just in a white camisole.

She stepped out of the bathroom, water droplets still on her face, her skin all rosy.

Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door.

"Who is it?" Jessica called out.

"It's me."

Gabriel?

What was he doing here?

Seeing Jessica hadn't opened the door, Gabriel knocked harder, "Jessica, let me in."

"It's late. What's up?" Jessica asked.

"I think I have a fever. I'm burning up. Can you check?"

Hearing he had a fever, Jessica didn't hesitate and opened the door.

As soon as the door opened, Gabriel's tall frame leaned heavily forward. Before Jessica could react, he collapsed onto her.

"Gabriel, don't pass out. Wake up."

At six feet tall and built like a tank, he wasn't light.

It was a miracle her petite self could hold him up. Getting him to the bed was another story.

"Gabriel, wake up," Jessica called out again.

But Gabriel, leaning on her, didn't respond.

She touched his forehead and freaked out.

Why was he so hot?

Gabriel slightly opened his eyes, bloodshot.

He struggled to speak, "Jessica, I'm so hot."

"Don't worry, we have medicine. Let me get you to the bed first. Can you walk? I can't move you alone. Put your left hand on my shoulder and grab me with your right. Can you walk with me?" Jessica said.

"Yeah," Gabriel replied.

With his help, Jessica gritted her teeth and got him to the bed.

As soon as Gabriel lay down, Jessica took a deep breath and went to find some fever medicine.

She came back with the medicine and a cup of warm water, approaching Gabriel.

"Get up and take the fever meds. You'll feel better once it kicks in," Jessica said softly.

Gabriel struggled to sit up, his eyes landing on Jessica in her skimpy nightwear. Her bare arms and sexy collarbone made him feel even hotter.

That heat was like a wildfire inside him.

His mouth was dry, and something deep inside was tormenting him.

Barely holding it together, he muttered, "Jessica, I feel awful!"

Jessica handed him the water, saying, "Then take the meds, quick. They work fast. You'll feel better soon."

Gabriel shook his head and gently touched her hair, saying, "Silly girl, it's not just a fever."

Jessica frowned, "What do you mean? Your forehead's burning up."

Gabriel said, "It's not just my forehead. My whole body is on fire, especially when I see you, Jessica. Do you know? I can barely control myself right now."

Gabriel wasn't hiding anything anymore.

He laid it all out for Jessica.

As he finished, his gaze was like fire, and his Adam's apple bobbed up and down like crazy.

His face was flushed from holding back.

Even Jessica, as clueless as she could be, realized what was happening.

"How did this happen? Who did this to you?" she asked.

In her panic, Jessica's hand brushed against Gabriel's arm.

That cool touch spread through his body like a balm, making him want to hold on tight and never let go.

But he knew he couldn't.

He'd hurt her too many times before.

He didn't want to force her, hurt her, or wrong her again.

"Leave this room. Go sleep in the master bedroom," Gabriel said.

He admitted that he had hoped she could be his cure when he came here.

But as soon as he saw her, he knew he couldn't force her.

"What about you?" Jessica looked at his pained face, her heart aching, asking, "Gabriel, tell me, are you in a lot of pain?"

"Jessica," Gabriel smiled weakly, "I gotta be honest. Yeah, it hurts like hell, but don't worry. I'm strong. I'll get through it."

Endure?

How could he endure something like this?

If it were that simple, the person who drugged him wouldn't have used such a thing.

Since they drugged him, it meant that without an antidote, he wouldn't get through this safely.

"Gabriel, I..." Jessica stammered.

Seeing him in pain felt like ants were gnawing at her heart.

Halfway through her sentence, she choked up and couldn't continue.

But her actions spoke louder than words.

Bravely stepping forward, she reached out and gently hugged Gabriel.

Instantly, her faint fragrance enveloped him. With her so close, the heat inside him surged even more wildly.

"Jessica," he called her name, sweat dripping from his forehead and cheeks, showing how hard he was trying to hold back.
