Chapter 544 Vincent is Here
They walked back, with Francis and Celia's figures bathed in the glow of the setting sun.
As they passed by Jessica, she vaguely heard their conversation.
"Does it hurt a lot?" Francis's voice was very gentle.
Immediately after, Celia said playfully, "Francis, I told you I'm fine, I just twisted my ankle. You don't need to make such a fuss."
"And with so many people on the beach, I feel embarrassed with you carrying me."
A gust of wind blew, and Francis and Celia gradually walked away.
Jessica could no longer hear Francis's response.
But Jessica thought, 'Francis's answer must have been very gentle and very comforting.'
'Unfortunately, Francis's warmth was not for me.'
Seeing this, Louie looked at Jessica with some concern.
"Mrs. Walton, it's getting windy. You've just recovered; you shouldn't be exposed to the wind."
As he spoke, his long fingers had already draped a coat over Jessica's shoulders.
"Thank you, Louie, you're always so considerate."
"As long as Mrs. Walton needs me, I will always be here for you."
Louie said, then stood beside Jessica like a tall, straight tree.
Time passed just like that.
A week went by in a flash.
During this week, Jessica mostly stayed inside the house.
In the past, Jessica always went for a walk on the beach at sunset when the sky was painted red.
But recently, Jessica changed her routine, always going for a walk around nine or ten in the morning, when the sun had just risen and wasn't too strong yet.
Louie said, "Mrs. Walton, it seems like the sunset is more beautiful."
Jessica knew that too.
Jessica just didn't want to run into Francis and Celia while enjoying the sunset.
That day, Louie accompanied Jessica on her walk and they returned.
As soon as Jessica entered the door and saw someone sitting in the hall, she was instantly stunned.
Immediately after, she was filled with great surprise and joy.
"Vincent, what are you doing here?" Jessica looked at him, utterly surprised.
Vincent walked over to Jessica, as elegant and warm as ever.
With a smile on his face, Vincent said, "I haven't seen you in a long time, so I came to check on you."
"How have you been lately?"
Jessica nodded, a bright smile appearing on her lips.
"I'm doing great. Didn't I tell you and Tina on Facebook? The temperature by the beach is very comfortable, the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful, especially walking on the beach in the evening, it's so relaxing."
"By the way, did you see the photos I sent you?"
"Yes, they were beautiful." Vincent nodded.
But his eyes became particularly deep and somber when he looked at Jessica. Vincent could tell at a glance that Jessica was not happy.
She was not doing well here at all.
From the moment he met Jessica, she had been smiling, talking happily, and even saying a lot.
But it was all about her daily life or the beautiful scenery here.
As for anything related to Gabriel, she didn't mention a word.
Just from this, Vincent knew she was hiding something.
Jessica was just forcing a smile to make him feel at ease.
In the evening, Jessica had Anne prepare a few local dishes.
Since they were by the sea, the seafood was not only large but also very fresh.
But looking at the table full of seafood, Vincent had no appetite at all.
Vincent was worried about Jessica's condition.
Since it was all seafood and pregnant women shouldn’t eat too much of it, Jessica had very little.
"Wait a moment."
A few minutes later, Vincent came over carrying two boxes.
Then Vincent took out the items one by one. "The top box contains some dishes I specially had packed for you, all your favorite flavors, vacuum-packed, so they can be stored for a while. If you get a craving, have them heat it for you."
"The bottom box contains snacks Tina prepared for you. She said they are all your favorites, to keep you entertained while watching TV."
Looking at the two boxes, Jessica instantly felt her eyes welling up with tears.
Her heart was filled with gratitude.
They had thought of everything for her.
During dinner, they chatted and laughed.
They talked about many things, and Vincent even brought a surprise for Jessica.
Just seeing the video on his phone, without even opening it, Jessica couldn't help but tear up.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
It was Gilbert and Freddy.
Jessica clicked the play button, and instantly, Gilbert and Freddy appeared on the screen.
"Mommy, I'm Gilbert!"
"Mommy, I'm Freddy!"
"Mommy, Mr. Lucas asked us to make this video for you as a surprise. We wanted to come with Mr. Lucas too because we miss you so much, but we didn't want to trouble you. You're already working hard with the baby."
"Mommy, we guessed you would cry when you saw the video. Mommy, don't cry, you're a beautiful lady, our angel mommy. If you cry, you won't be beautiful, and we'll be sad."
"Mommy, Mr. Lucas, and Ms. Ingram said you went to find Daddy and it might take some time. Once you find Daddy, you'll bring him back with you."
"We miss Daddy too. Mommy, you have to stay strong!"
"And Mommy, you have to be good, eat well, sleep well, just like when we were little. No crying."
"Mommy, we miss you so much. We'll be waiting for you at home!"
Finally, Gilbert and Freddy both blew a kiss to the camera.
Jessica was already overwhelmed with emotion.
Her tears had long since started to fall.
But remembering Freddy and Gilbert's constant reminders, she immediately grabbed a tissue to wipe her tears and held back her sobs. "No crying, I promised Gilbert and Freddy. They are so good, I have to be good too."
"I won't cry, I can't cry."
Maybe because she kept telling herself that, Jessica finally calmed down and stopped crying.
Vincent and Jessica talked a lot more, but not a word was mentioned about Gabriel.
Vincent found a moment and reached out to Louie.
Louie didn't hide anything and told Vincent everything that had happened recently.
"No wonder."
With a sigh, Vincent felt particularly worried.
Vincent looked at the sunset and suddenly had an idea.
"Isn't the sunset by the beach supposed to be particularly beautiful? How about after dinner, you take me for a walk and show me around?" Vincent suggested to Jessica.
Jessica hesitated.
She hadn't gone to the beach after sunset for many days.
Jessica was trying to avoid running into Francis and Celia.
If she went later, she would inevitably run into Francis and Celia.
"Is it a hassle?"
Seeing Jessica hesitate, Vincent asked.
"No, the sunset is indeed very beautiful. I'll take you to see it later."
"Okay."
