Chapter 595 Alexis's Concealment
In the afternoon, Gabriel received a phone call.
A strange number, a voice altered by a voice changer, "Hello, is this Mr. Walton?"
"Is Jessica with you?"
Gabriel tried to stay calm, but his anxious words gave him away.
"Mr. Walton, you're right," Royce replied with a laugh.
"Get to the point, what do you want?"
"Mr. Walton, I know you have plenty of money, but I don't want your money. I want you to find someone for me."
"Who?"
"Jessica's father, Ulysses. Find him," Royce slowly said.
Gabriel instantly gripped his phone tightly, his face darkening quickly. "Impossible, he is dead. I can't find a dead man for you."
Royce began to laugh loudly. "Mr. Walton, I didn't expect you to be so easily fooled."
"I know you're looking for Ulysses. A lot of information must have told you that Ulysses is dead."
"Well, I'm telling you now, Ulysses is not dead. He's still alive in this world. He escaped the car explosion back then, but after being rescued, he lived under a new identity, even changing his appearance, and hid away in the shadows."
"Who are you? How do you know this?"
Royce's voice suddenly turned cold. "That's none of your business, Mr. Walton."
"Ulysses is alive. You have five days. During these five days, I will ensure Jessica's safety. After five days, if you can't tell me Ulysses' whereabouts, I'm afraid Jessica will be in danger."
"Plus, and your unborn baby and another girl."
"Mr. Walton, think it over!"
With that, Royce immediately hung up.
When Louie came in, Gabriel was sitting on the couch, his fists clenched, his brows furrowed.
He looked like a statue, maintaining the same posture.
Even when he saw Louie, he didn't move an inch.
"How is it?" Gabriel asked, looking down at the floor.
"We've figured it out. At that time, besides Mrs. Walton and Dr. Ingram, there was only one patient and a family member in the elevator. The others weren't involved."
"You and Mr. Lucas guessed right. Almost all the patients were fake. This elevator was a setup from the beginning, so the kidnapping was premeditated."
"Did you ask the patient and the family member?" Gabriel's voice was deep and frightening.
"Yes, they both said they didn't notice anything and couldn't see clearly."
"Okay, I got it. You can go now."
Gabriel immediately went to the police station to find Vincent.
He was straightforward, "I received their call. The condition is to find Jessica's father, Ulysses."
"What?"
Vincent looked at him in disbelief.
Gabriel took a deep drag on his cigarette, his expression marked by concern. "I had the same reaction as you. Ulysses is dead, right?"
"Yes, even my mom confirmed it herself. It shouldn't be false."
"But they insist Ulysses isn't dead. They say the car explosion back then was just a cover. Ulysses was rescued and given a new identity and face, completely transformed, which is why we couldn't find him."
"What else did they say?" Vincent asked.
"They gave me five days to find Ulysses or Jessica's life will be in danger."
Gabriel said seriously and gravely.
"And Tina," Gabriel added after a pause.
Vincent was smart. He immediately understood what Gabriel meant.
"So you came to me, hoping I could ask my mom about the situation back then."
Gabriel nodded. "Their words make some sense. If they weren't somewhat sure of Ulysses' survival, they wouldn't make such a demand. Mrs. Lucas is the person we know who understands this matter the best. I hope she can help me."
Vincent grabbed his car keys and headed out. "Let's go, I'll drive."
"Thank you!"
When Vincent brought Gabriel over, Alexis was momentarily stunned, then smiled and asked, "Where's Jessica?"
Vincent had everyone leave.
Then they took Alexis to the study and closed the door.
"Mom," Vincent walked over, his expression serious. "Jessica has been kidnapped."
"What?" Alexis immediately panicked. "Then what are you doing here? To save her. Those kidnappers just want money. We'll give it to them."
Vincent shook his head. "Mom, it's not that simple. They don't want money; they want someone."
"Who?"
"They might have already traced Jessica's identity and don't believe Mr. Ulysses Lucas died in the explosion back then. They insist Mr. Ulysses Lucas is still alive and want us to find him within five days, or Jessica and our friend Dr. Ingram will be in danger."
Alexis shook her head in shock. "Impossible, Ulysses is indeed dead."
"I attended his funeral back then. You all know his grave. How could he still be alive?"
Gabriel asked, "Mrs. Lucas, if I may ask, did you see his body yourself?"
"No, the car explosion was very severe back then. He and another colleague were blown beyond recognition. I heard there wasn't a single intact part left, maybe just some bones."
Thinking of that scene still made Alexis shudder.
"Mrs. Lucas, to be honest, Ulysses might still be alive. He might have a new face and identity, but we haven't found him yet."
Alexis was too shocked. This realization was too much to bear. She looked at Vincent. "Vincent, is what he's saying true?"
Vincent gave her a confirming look. "Mom, his analysis is very accurate."
"If the kidnappers said it, there must be a reason. We only have five days, so if you know anything from back then, you must tell me, or Jessica will be in grave danger."
"Originally, Jessica was going to be admitted to the hospital today. Maybe in a few days, the baby would be delivered."
Alexis looked at Vincent.
But soon, she averted her gaze. "I've already told you everything I know. You're my son; I wouldn't hide anything from you."
"Mom, I know you wouldn't. But please think carefully over the next few days. All of Mr. Ulysses Lucas' information has been erased. Our clues are very limited, so anything you can tell us is really important."
"By the way, you said Dad and Mr. Ulysses Lucas were on a mission back then. What kind of mission?"
Alexis' eyes showed panic. "I'm not sure. I only heard them mention it once, saying it had to be kept secret. They wouldn't tell me anything."
