Chapter 834 Trying on the Wedding Dress
Soon, Ford gathered a group of people, and everyone stood respectfully in the living room waiting.
"Mr. Powell, everyone is here."
Kenneth nodded and began to speak, "The reason I called everyone here today is to inform you that from now on, Grace will be the head of the household. Whatever she instructs, you are to follow directly without consulting me or reporting to me."
"Do you all understand?"
The group immediately nodded, "Yes, Mr. Powell!"
Grace looked at Kenneth in astonishment. "Kenneth, thank you for your trust, but didn't we agree this was just a contract marriage?"
Kenneth smiled gently, "I won't withhold anything that should be yours."
"Thank you!"
"How's the wedding dress search going?" Kenneth asked.
Grace nodded, "I've looked around, and they all seem pretty good."
Since she wasn't marrying the person she wanted to, it didn't matter which dress she wore; it was just a ceremony.
"What about the wedding photos? Do you have a style you like?"
Grace immediately looked over and said, "Kenneth, I want to discuss something with you. Can we skip the wedding photos? I don't want to take them."
"We might need one set of the main wedding dress for the wedding reception, but as for the others, if you don't like them, we don't have to take them. How does that sound?"
Grace nodded, "That works!"
"Alright, then let Barney know which wedding dress you like, and he'll make the arrangements. I need to go on a business trip tomorrow, but I can accompany you the day after. Is that okay?"
"Sure, I'm free any day."
The next morning.
Since it was the day to pick out the wedding dress and take wedding photos, Grace got up early.
After getting ready, she went downstairs for breakfast.
When she got to the dining table, she found she was the only one there; Kenneth was not present.
This surprised her a bit. According to his habit, he would always be dressed in a suit and tie, elegantly waiting for her at the table.
"Where is Mr. Powell? Hasn't he come down yet?" Grace asked.
A servant immediately replied, "Mr. Powell went on a business trip yesterday and hasn't returned yet."
Grace was puzzled when she heard Ford's surprised voice, "Mr. Powell."
Kenneth handed his suitcase to Ford and looked at Grace, "Go ahead and have breakfast. Don't wait for me. I'll come down after I shower and change."
"Okay." She agreed but waited for him.
Kenneth changed into casual clothes, wearing a beige wool sweater, long pants, and a light gray cashmere coat, making him look tall and stylish.
"Didn't I tell you not to wait for me? If you're hungry, you should eat first."
Kenneth sat down and spoke gently.
"It's okay, I'm not very hungry. I can wait for you."
After breakfast, Kenneth took the lead, "Let's go! Barney is waiting for us outside."
Grace hesitated and looked at him, "Kenneth, how about we go tomorrow?"
"What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?" he asked with concern.
"No, I just feel a bit guilty. I thought you'd be back from your business trip last night, but you only got home early this morning."
"I see you're a bit tired, and you have dark circles under your eyes. You probably didn't rest well yesterday, so I don't want to trouble you too much."
Grace explained, and Kenneth patiently responded, "It was a bit rushed, but you don't need to worry about my condition. I'll take a nap in the car."
"Are you sure we don't need to reschedule?" she confirmed again.
"No need, let's do it today. Taking wedding photos can be tiring, so if we finish today, you can rest without feeling rushed."
"Alright!"
As they were leaving, Kenneth's gaze fell on Grace.
Suddenly, he paused and said to the person next to him, "Go get Grace's down jacket!"
Grace realized she had overlooked that.
The villa was kept at a constant temperature, so it was warm inside, but it would definitely be cold outside.
The servant quickly brought down the down jacket, and just as Grace was about to reach for it, Kenneth took it first.
He carefully walked over and gently draped it over her shoulders.
This was the first time they had been so close.
It was also the first time Kenneth had looked at her so closely. He had to admit, she was very beautiful.
Her face was perfectly shaped, her skin was soft and delicate, and her eyes were especially captivating—gentle, lively, and clear as water, with a mesmerizing power.
When she didn't smile, she could be seen as a cool goddess, but when she did smile, her crescent-shaped eyes were almost irresistible.
Even in the entertainment industry, filled with beautiful women, her looks were more stunning than many actresses.
After Kenneth helped her with the jacket, he immediately took a step back.
As they walked outside, he suddenly thought of something.
"Grace, do we need to issue a press release about our wedding?"
"No need," she replied decisively, then explained, "Because I've decided to leave the entertainment industry."
Kenneth was undeniably surprised by this news.
With deep eyes, he placed his long hands on his knees and slowly asked, "Is it because of Quentin?"
Grace didn't hide anything and honestly told Kenneth.
"He's part of the reason, but mostly it's because I've thought it through. There's no privacy or secrets in the entertainment industry. Whether it's my emotions or my every move, everything is under constant scrutiny."
"With so many people watching, even the smallest thing gets magnified. I don't like my private life and emotions being judged by others."
"I also don't like having to accept everyone's judgment on everything. It's too exhausting to live like that."
"So in the future, I want to truly be myself, to live freely without worrying about others' opinions, just doing what I believe is right."
Kenneth agreed with her decision.
"I think that's a great idea. If you need any help, just let me know."
"Okay, thank you in advance for your kindness."
When they arrived at the store, everything was already prepared.
The place was large and quiet, with grand and elegant decor, making it feel like stepping into a palace.
Grace was truly amazed.
The welcoming staff politely said, "Mr. Powell, Ms. Morgan, the wedding dresses are over here. Please follow me."
After about half an hour, Grace chose a wedding dress she had liked from the beginning.
Next, it was time to pick out clothes for Kenneth.
Kenneth leaned in slightly. "Grace, can you help me choose?"
"Me?"
Grace was surprised, so much so that she was momentarily stunned.
"Yes, you have good taste. Whichever one you like, I'll try it on."
"Okay, I'll give it a try."
