Chapter 363 4D Ultrasound

The distance between them wasn't that far, but Gabriel was taking his time, each step filled with intense longing and anticipation, even though he was dying to hold her.

Jessica tried hard to hold back her tears because their reunion was supposed to be happy. But seeing Gabriel, who she loved so much, walking towards her like it was some kind of ceremony, her tears broke free.

How many days had it been? She couldn't remember the last time she was by his side; all she knew was that it felt like forever. And now, he was right in front of her, walking towards her with determination.

Taking the final step, Gabriel stood in front of Jessica. Unable to hold back any longer, he pulled her into a tight hug. Feeling her warmth in that moment, Gabriel finally believed that Jessica in his arms was real.

"It's so good, you're no longer just a memory."

"Jessica, Jessica, Jessica..."

He had a thousand things to say, but holding her in his arms, Gabriel found he could only whisper her name over and over as if he had forgotten everything else.

Thinking about the long separation and the torment, his heart ached beyond imagination.

In the hospital, people came and went, everything continuing as usual, unchanged. Some were holding medical records, seeking treatment, some were waiting for tests, and some were anxiously looking forward.

But at that moment, Jessica and Gabriel seemed to be in another world. In their world, it was very quiet, so quiet that only they existed as if they were embracing across millennia, neither willing to let go. They just held each other.

Then Jessica's phone rang. Once, twice, and by the third ring, she saw the missed call and exclaimed, "Oh no."

"What's wrong?" Gabriel asked.

Jessica reached out, touched her belly, and her face softened. "Today is the day for the 4D ultrasound. The two babies were being a bit naughty earlier and didn't want to show their faces, so the doctor told me to eat something sweet to coax them."

"I was planning to eat some chocolate, but I forgot. I wonder if they'll show their faces."

Gabriel's gaze finally fell on Jessica's belly. Her large down jacket covered it well, making it hard to notice without a closer look.

"Have they been good lately? Have you thrown up again these days? Are you still feeling uncomfortable?" Gabriel asked, thinking about her previous morning sickness and feeling his heart ache terribly.

Jessica knew he was worried, so she immediately smiled and said, "The babies have been very good. They haven't troubled me at all lately. I've been eating well and sleeping well."

She knew that only by saying this would he feel better. So, she was willing to tell this little lie to him.

In fact, how could any pregnant woman feel comfortable in the first few months? Almost every day, she felt nauseous and had to deal with constant vomiting.

"Do you want to have the check-up here? Or should we go home and arrange it?" Gabriel asked seriously for Jessica's opinion.

"Let's do it here. The doctor, Faye, is very gentle and has always been good to me. We'll go home after the check-up, and I can't wait to see the babies' faces," Jessica said.

"Okay." Gabriel nodded, then grabbed her hand and they headed inside.

At the door to the ultrasound room, a nurse stopped Gabriel, informing him that only patients were allowed inside.

Jessica entered the room alone and lay down on the bed, feeling a bit nervous. She wondered if the little ones would cooperate this time. If it didn't work again and they needed a third attempt, it would be too frustrating.

Unfortunately, her fears were realized. This time, it was even worse. The two little ones were side by side with their backs to the transducer, showing nothing but their backs.

For a moment, Jessica and Faye didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Ten minutes later, Jessica had to give up and said goodbye to Faye. "Faye, thanks for taking care of me all this time. My fiancé is here to pick me up, and we'll be leaving town soon."

Hearing Jessica's words, Faye was especially happy. "Really? Jessica, you're beautiful and kind-hearted. I knew you would find your happiness. That's wonderful. I wish you and your husband a long and happy life together."

"Thank you, Faye."

"By the way, is your fiancé here?"

"Yes, he's waiting for me outside the ultrasound room," Jessica replied.

"In that case, don't get up yet. I'll let him come in and talk to the babies. Maybe they miss their dad, and hearing his voice will make them turn around."

Jessica was quite surprised and curious. "Really?"

"Yes, it happened before. A baby turned around after hearing his dad's voice, and the check-up was completed smoothly."

"Okay, Faye, please call him in. His name is Gabriel."

Meanwhile, Gabriel was waiting outside for Jessica when he heard the doctor call his name. His heart skipped a beat, thinking something had gone wrong. He immediately rushed over. "That's me. What's wrong with Jessica?"

"Don't worry, Jessica is fine. Come with me," Faye reassured him.

Gabriel followed her inside, and seeing Jessica, his heart finally settled.

Jessica reached out, held his hand, and smiled as she spoke, "Faye said the babies might miss their dad. If they hear their dad's voice, they might turn around. Do you want to give it a try?"

Hearing this, Gabriel's eyes instantly reddened with excitement. "Of course, I do."

He looked at Jessica's belly and was about to reach out but realized his hands were cold. Fearing they might chill Jessica, he rubbed them together, then unbuttoned his coat and placed his hands on his chest to warm them up quickly.

Once warm, Gabriel carefully placed his hands on Jessica's belly. He gently spoke, "Babies, I'm your dad. I'm sorry I haven't been with you lately. Are you mad at me? Now that I'm here, would you turn around and let me see your faces?"

Jessica hadn't held much hope, but at that moment, Faye excitedly said, "Keep talking, the babies are moving, they're showing their profiles."

Encouraged, Gabriel felt even more determined. As he gently stroked Jessica's belly, he continued, "Babies, I'll take you and your mom home soon. I'll tell you stories and play music for you. I'll always be with you, okay?"

At that moment, Faye happily exclaimed, "They've turned around, wonderful, the babies have turned around."
