Chapter 538 Jessica is Sick 1

But the more anxious Francis became, the tighter the door seemed to close.

He didn't stop and knocked even harder.

A few minutes later, Louie slowly opened the door.

Seeing it was Francis, Louie stood at the door, slightly blocking the way. "Mr. Gutierrez, hello, what can I do for you?"

Louie's tone was particularly distant and indifferent.

"I saw you bought some medicine. What's wrong with Jessica? Is she not feeling well?"

"Mr. Gutierrez, since you have returned to Ms. Bell, the person you should care about is Ms. Bell. As for Mrs. Walton, it's best if you don't get involved."

Francis could hear the anger in Louie's words.

"I just want to know if Jessica is sick. Please tell me."

Louie replied coldly, "Mr. Gutierrez, Mrs. Walton said that since you chose to leave, there is no longer any relationship between you two."

"So, whether Mrs. Walton is sick or not has nothing to do with you. Mrs. Walton specifically instructed that she doesn't want to see you."

"Mr. Gutierrez, please leave!"

Francis was very distressed.

He grabbed Louie's wrist, and the two struggled.

Louie didn't fight back, but calmly said, "Mrs. Walton is resting upstairs. Are you sure you want to fight me?"

Hearing this, Francis seemed to deflate instantly.

He let go, but his eyes were full of unwillingness.

Before leaving, he said, "I'll come back tomorrow until she agrees to see me."

The next day.

Francis took Celia for a walk by the beach.

But just like yesterday, he walked almost the entire beach and didn't see Jessica.

In the evening, he appeared at the door again.

Louie opened the door and saw him, unfazed by the revelation, but coldly conveyed, "Mrs. Walton doesn't want to see you, Mr. Gutierrez. Please leave!"

Louie and Francis stood in a stalemate for a long time, but Francis was reluctant to leave.

At that moment, someone ran over anxiously and called Louie, "Mrs. Walton is awake, and her condition is not good. Go check on her."

Hearing this, Francis could no longer stay calm and almost immediately rushed inside.

But when he reached the door, Francis suddenly stopped.

Francis recalled how frail her body had looked.

Now that Jessica was pregnant and sick, she must be even weaker.

If she didn't want to see him, and he barged in regardless, it wouldn't help her but might worsen her condition.

So, Francis had to painfully stop.

When Louie went in, Jessica was lying on the bed with her eyes closed.

On the light pink bed sheet, flowers were blooming beautifully.

But the more vibrant the flowers, the paler and sicker Jessica's face looked.

Louie felt both heartache and anxiety.

More importantly, besides regular care, he couldn't do anything inappropriate.

This was something he knew very well.

So Louie always restrained himself.

Louie stepped in lightly.

When he reached the bedside, he spoke softly, trying not to disturb Jessica.

"Mrs. Walton!" He called out gently.

Hearing the voice, Jessica slowly opened her eyes, just a tiny slit.

She spoke, her voice particularly weak, "Why are you here?"

"They said your condition has worsened, and you didn't eat dinner. I was worried and came to check on you."

"Well, I can't blame them. Everyone is concerned about me, I know."

"Mrs. Walton, you and your baby need nutrition now. You should eat something," Louie advised with concern.

Jessica raised her delicate face, "Don't worry, I won't be hard on myself."

"I just feel a bit tired and have no appetite. Once I regain some strength, I'll eat."

"Alright, then call me when you want to eat. I'll have someone prepare hot food for you."

"Okay."

Louie then left.

Louie was worried about Jessica, he had Anne come up to take care of her.

Francis was in the yard; he hadn't left.

Louie ignored Francis and let him stand there.

After another half hour, Anne came down to call Louie, "Mrs. Walton's condition has worsened. You should go up and check."

Louie quickly ran upstairs.

In the bedroom, Jessica was already lying on the bed.

Her eyes were closed, cold sweat kept breaking out on her forehead, and she was shivering.

"In such hot weather, why are there so many blankets on Mrs. Walton?"

Louie looked at the two blankets on Jessica and shot a cold glance at Anne.

Anne immediately explained, "Mrs. Walton kept saying she was very cold, so I had no choice but to cover her."

"In such hot weather, even a healthy person would get sick by being covered like this. Quickly remove the top blanket."

Jessica opened her eyes, her watery eyes looking particularly pitiful, "Louie, don't take it away."

"I don't know why, but I suddenly feel very cold."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jessica sneezed several times in a row.

"Mrs. Walton, are you running a fever? You can't keep this up. Let's take some medicine, or I'll take you to see a doctor," Louie said anxiously.

"I'll hold on. Now that I have a baby, it's better not to take medicine. I used to have fevers too, and I got better after a night."

Jessica's voice trembled weakly.

Louie took a thermometer to measure Jessica's temperature.

When the result came out, he was shocked.

Jessica's temperature had reached 102 degrees Fahrenheit.

Louie had Anne quickly pack up, deciding to take Jessica to the hospital.

But Jessica seemed to suddenly fall into a drowsy state.

Jessica lay with her eyes closed, as if asleep, but not quite.

"Gabriel, Gabriel..."

In her dream, she kept calling Gabriel's name.

She hugged herself tightly, and large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead.

"Gabriel, I'm Jessica!"

"Gabriel, I miss you so much."

"Gabriel, when will you remember me and the baby?"

Jessica murmured, her whole body filled with unease and struggle.

Jessica was in extreme pain and kept shaking her head.

Tears fell from the corners of her eyes, quickly soaking the pillow.

Anne had already packed everything.

"It's done. I've packed everything Mrs. Walton needs."

"No need for now. You can leave." Louie spoke.

"What? Not going to the hospital?" Anne felt a bit confused.

"Just leave!" Louie emphasized.

Then, he walked straight toward Francis, the tall and slender figure in the yard. Louie was relieved that Francis was still there.

Louie spoke very directly.

"Mrs. Walton wants to see you. Go up quickly!"
