Chapter 291 Missing You Like Crazy

Jessica's heart did a little happy dance when she heard the news.

With lips quivering, she blurted out, "Mrs. Lucas, are you saying you've seen my mom?"

Her mind raced, 'Could she actually know who my mom is? Does this mean she might help me find my dad too?'

The thought made Jessica practically bounce with excitement.

"I think I might've seen her, but my memory's kinda fuzzy. It was in some group photo somewhere. Someone said she looked a bit like me, so I took a closer look, but I never met her in person. Over time, I just forgot."

Hearing Alexis say this, Jessica's excitement deflated like a popped balloon.

She thought she had finally found someone who knew her mom.

Looked like her search for her family was gonna take a lot longer.

In her head, she whispered, 'Dad, where are you? Do you remember Mom? Do you even know I exist?'

Seeing Jessica's spirits drop, Alexis grabbed her hand and asked, "What's wrong? Got something on your mind? It's okay, you can tell me."

Jessica looked at her, her voice barely above a whisper, "Mrs. Lucas, to be honest, you do look a bit like my mom, so I liked you the moment I saw you. My mom passed away years ago, and she secretly gave birth to me. A lot of people might not even know I exist, so I want to find my family."

Feeling a connection with Alexis, she spilled her heart out.

Alexis comforted her, "Jessica, you'll definitely find them. Let Vincent ask around for you. He's got connections in the police force that can help."

"Okay." Jessica nodded, but deep down, she knew that with just a photo and no other clues, finding her dad was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Plus, without any solid leads, she wasn't about to make her mom's photo public or let the cops post it online for everyone to see.

She didn't even know if her dad was still alive.

Thinking that Alexis was still recovering, Jessica didn't want to dwell on her worries and risk bringing down Alexis's mood.

After chatting for a bit, Jessica saw it was time to go and said her goodbyes.

"Madison, see Jessica out," Alexis said.

"No need, Mrs. Lucas. Let Madison stay and take care of you. I know my way around this hospital; I'll find my way out."

With that, Jessica left.

In the ward, Alexis looked at Madison and said, "Go see her out. It's a nice gesture, and if your brother were here, he'd definitely see her out himself."

"Okay, Mom, I'll go right away. You and Vincent treat her like she's made of gold. I'm starting to get jealous," Madison teased.

"Don't be silly. Once Vincent marries her, we'll be family. And since her parents aren't around, we should take extra care of her."

"Yes, dear Mom, you're always right. I'll go see Jessica out now."

With that, Madison dashed out like a gust of wind.

Jessica had just reached the corner when a tall figure appeared in front of her.

Her slender wrist was grabbed firmly.

Looking up, she saw Gabriel, filled with surprise, asking, "Gabriel, what are you doing here?"

Gabriel had one hand in his pocket and the other against the wall, trapping her in his arms.

Frowning, he said, "If I didn't show up, my girlfriend would be stolen away."

Jessica blushed and shyly said, "What do you mean, my girlfriend? I haven't agreed to anything yet!"

"That's your thought. In my heart, it's settled."

Thinking of the girl calling Jessica, Gabriel asked with his face darkening, "Weren't you supposed to pretend just once? Haven't you explained things to Vincent?"

Jessica said, "We agreed to meet his mom just once and tell her the truth after she recovered. It was just an accident. I didn't expect to run into his sister in the elevator, and she insisted on bringing me up. So, this was just a coincidence and an accident. It will be explained soon."

Hearing her explanation, Gabriel's expression softened a bit, feeling a bit more at ease.

But he still felt somewhat displeased.

He said, "Ms. Morgan, although your explanation is good, your actions just now deeply hurt my fragile heart."

Seeing his exaggerated expression, Jessica couldn't help but laugh, "No way, your heart is very strong. Fragile heart?"

He added, "Yes, in front of you, my heart is always fragile, so you need to compensate me."

"How should I compensate?" Jessica asked instinctively.

But she regretted it immediately after asking.

Gabriel looked at her with a mischievous smile and leaned in, "If Ms. Morgan is willing to give me a kiss, I will let it go."

"Gabriel." Jessica immediately looked at him coquettishly, saying, "I warn you; don't be greedy. There are so many people here. You've already made me feel awkward enough by pinning me against the wall. I don't want to be embarrassed."

With a smile, Gabriel said, "It's okay, I have no shame."

The next moment, he leaned down and gently kissed her lips, then quickly letting go.

Although the kiss was brief, Gabriel felt extremely satisfied.

Jessica looked at him in disbelief, saying, "You're crazy; there are so many people here."

"Yes, crazy, I've been crazy for a long time. So I've been thinking about you all day, couldn't wait to see you, and couldn't wait to kiss you when I saw you."

As he spoke, he leaned in closer, his lips brushing her earlobe, his deep voice incredibly sexy. "Jessica, if you hadn't fully agreed to be with me, and if it weren't daytime, I'd really want you to stay in my bed all day."

Gabriel expressed his thoughts in a very subtle and implicit way.

But Jessica's face still turned red, like a rosy dawn.

She clenched her fist and lightly tapped Gabriel's chest.

It was more of a gesture than a real hit, as she couldn't bear to hurt him.

She said, "Gabriel, you can't say things like that anymore. It's almost time for work. Let me go."

"Okay." Gabriel nodded and pointed to his cheek, requesting, "Give me a kiss, and I'll let you go."

Jessica blushed, saying, "There are so many people here."

"Then do it quickly. If you do it quickly, they won't see."

Jessica turned her head to the right, seeing no one coming, quickly stood on tiptoe, and kissed Gabriel on the cheek.

Gabriel smiled contentedly and kept his word, letting go of Jessica.

However, as soon as Gabriel released her, Jessica saw Madison standing behind him.
