Chapter 228 Can't Hold It Anymore
"Jessica," Gabriel called out again, his voice getting softer.
"Yeah?" Jessica replied quietly, already feeling sensitive.
In his arms, she arched slightly, not daring to move.
"Can you sleep now?" he whispered in her ear.
His words reached her heart, making her feel all mushy inside.
"Not really," Jessica admitted.
Luckily, it was dark, so he couldn't see her blushing.
"I can't sleep either," Gabriel said.
He then turned over, hovering above her, his dark eyes locked on hers. He suggested playfully, "Since we can't sleep, let's do something."
"What do you want to do?" Jessica immediately regretted asking, wishing she could take it back.
What was she thinking?
"Do what I couldn't last time because I wasn't feeling well," Gabriel said, leaning in for a kiss.
But Jessica turned her head away.
"Gabriel, I... I got my period tonight," she said softly.
He paused for a moment.
Then he continued kissing her, more gently this time.
Jessica melted into a puddle, feeling weak. But inside, she was anxious. She worried he might be disappointed.
Gabriel finally stopped, kissed her head, and wrapped his arms around her.He didn't say anything, looking a bit serious, which made Jessica feel uneasy.
She knew men needed relief when they're aroused, and she wasn't naive about it.
Few men could handle a purely platonic relationship.
Gabriel closed his eyes, trying to calm down.He didn't want to lose control or hurt her.So, he just held her, hoping she'd sleep well.
Suddenly, he felt something warm and wet on his chest. It took him a moment to realize it was tears.
Looking down, he saw Jessica crying.
"Why are you crying?" Gabriel asked gently.
Jessica looked up, tears in her eyes. She asked, "Gabriel, are you mad at me?"
Gabriel said gently, "Silly girl, why would I be mad?"
"Because ever since I told you I got my period, you closed your eyes and didn't say anything," she said softly.
Gabriel couldn't help but laugh, feeling both amused and touched.
He reached out, wiped away Jessica's tears, and gently said, "Silly, I just didn't talk because I was afraid I couldn't control myself. Closing my eyes was my way of calming down. Do you think I'm that selfish? If I was, I'd be a real jerk."
Jessica finally felt at ease and quickly fell asleep in his arms.
Watching her sleep, Gabriel smiled. She looked so peaceful, but it was tough for him to hold back.
The next day was the weekend, a rare chance to sleep in. When Jessica woke up, she saw Gabriel beside her. Thinking about last night, her heart warmed. She thought she'd have to wait a few more days for him to return, so his sudden comeback was a pleasant surprise.
After breakfast, Gabriel got busy with work. Jessica understood and didn't disturb him, only came around to occasionally bring him coffee.
In the afternoon, when she brought the third cup, Gabriel looked up, smiling. He pulled her onto his lap and said, "Ms. Morgan, do you know how many cups of coffee you've brought me?"
"Hmm?" Jessica thought she might have overdone it. But she enjoyed the excuse to see him, and he accepted every cup.
Gabriel pinched her nose. He remarked, "Silly, if it weren't you bringing the coffee, I wouldn't drink so much. I probably won't sleep tonight if I drink more. But not sleeping is perfect for doing something else."
Jessica quickly moved away, making Gabriel's smile deepen. He knew she misunderstood.
"Have you been bored keeping me company all day?" Gabriel asked.
Jessica shook her head. She said patiently, "No, you focus on your work. I'll stay until you're done."
Gabriel pulled her back, pushed her onto the sofa, and handed her a book. he suggested, "You can read here and keep me company."
"Will it bother you?" Jessica worried.
"No," Gabriel said. "Seeing you when I look up will give me more motivation. Plus, you won't have to keep bringing coffee to see me; you can look at me openly."
Jessica denied, "Who said I brought coffee to see you?"
Gabriel laughed and ruffled her hair. He worked for a while longer, then heard a sound. He looked up and saw Jessica asleep on the sofa, the book on the floor.
He got up, laid her flat, and covered her with a blanket. The room felt even warmer.
Gabriel kept working, occasionally glancing at Jessica. He worked until it was dark, then turned off his computer and walked over to her.
Jessica woke up, rubbing her eyes. She looked around and saw his workspace empty. She wondered, 'Where was Gabriel?'
