Chapter 160 I Have Loved My Husband for Ten Years
"Gabriel, you know what? I hate you. I hate you so much, you're like a block of wood, so dumb."
As Jessica spoke, she extended her small finger and gently poked Gabriel's chest.
Even though she was drunk, it didn't diminish her beauty at all; in fact, it made her even more charming and captivating.
Especially with the steam from the bathroom, Jessica's cheeks were flushed, and her lips were as red as little cherries, making her look even cuter and more delicate.
Gabriel stood there, not moving or retreating, letting Jessica's small hand poke randomly at his chest.
Jessica poked for a while, then paused. Thinking of something, she reached out and poked twice more.
Finally, she laughed drunkenly and asked, "Gabriel, you seem like a different person. Why aren't you dodging?"
"Why should I dodge?" he said.
Jessica blinked her lively little eyes.
As if she thought of something, she smiled mischievously.
Suddenly, she scooped up water from the bathtub and splashed it all over Gabriel.
Caught off guard, Gabriel realized what was happening only after Jessica had splashed him several times.
Seeing him soaked, even his hair dripping with water, Jessica laughed heartily, "Because if you don't dodge, you'll get wet!"
It had been a long time since he had seen her laugh so happily.
At that moment, Gabriel's heart softened.
Not only did he not retreat, but he also took a step forward.
He reached out, his long, fair hands gently rubbing Jessica's hair, saying dotingly, "Is it fun to splash me?"
Jessica nodded. "Yes, pretty much."
Saying this, she suddenly stood up from the bathtub, poking his chest again, complaining discontentedly.
"You know, when I first met you, you always had this gentle and elegant demeanor, like a noble prince, making people feel unworthy to approach or talk to you."
"But now," Jessica poked him heavily again and continued, "look at you, you're just as down and out as I am, like an ordinary person."
"Gabriel, you know what? I actually don't like it when you act like this, making us seem like people from two different worlds. When I married you, except for Xavier, it seemed like no one blessed me. Especially the people around you, they all thought I was marrying up, that I was after your wealth."
"And what do you think?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow and asked.
Jessica tilted her head, thought for a moment, and then said, "I think they're right!"
"I was dreaming too much, always fantasizing about being a princess who would be rescued by a prince. But in reality, I didn't even have a knight. They were right; we are from two different worlds."
"So, now that our worlds have finally separated, why don't you stay far away from me? Why do you have to come and disturb me, to stir my heart?"
The more Jessica spoke, the sadder and more heartbroken she felt.
Tears began to fall, and she wanted to wipe them away but realized she was wearing short sleeves and had no sleeves to use.
Instantly, her eyes fell on Gabriel's shirt.
"Come closer!" she suddenly said, looking at Gabriel.
"What for?" Gabriel replied irritably, "Didn't you just say you wanted me to stay far away from you?"
Despite his words, his body was honest. He took a big step forward, getting very close to Jessica.
Jessica beckoned with her finger again. "Still too far, come closer."
Gabriel moved much closer, now right next to the bathtub.
Without thinking, Jessica grabbed his shirt and started wiping her tears.
Instantly, Gabriel's face turned cold.
He thought she wanted him closer for something else.
But it turned out, it was just to use his shirt to wipe her tears.
"Jessica," Gabriel called out.
Jessica immediately looked up pitifully at him. "You brought me back, so you have to take responsibility."
"And how do you want me to take responsibility?" Gabriel asked, his dark eyes gradually deepening.
Jessica grabbed the showerhead and sprayed Gabriel wildly.
His clothes were soaked instantly, water flowing down like a small river.
Jessica said with satisfaction, "Of course, you have to make me happy."
"Getting naughtier, I see," said Gabriel, brushing his hair, but his words were filled with undeniable affection.
"Yes, I'm a naughty little thing. Oh, Gabriel, I have a secret to tell you." Suddenly, Jessica put her hand to her lips, speaking in a mysterious tone.
"What secret?"
"I was pretending all along," Jessica said. "Actually, I'm not obedient or well-behaved at all. I'm fierce, and you were fooled by me."
Saying this, Jessica put her hands by her mouth deliberately, making a fierce expression, then suddenly opened her mouth, showing her teeth, trying to look fierce.
But seeing Gabriel's calm eyes, and that he was not scared at all, she felt it was no fun.
"Aren't you surprised by this secret?" Jessica asked.
Gabriel ignored her. If he had doubted before whether Jessica was really drunk or just pretending, now he was sure she was drunk.
That was why she was chattering non-stop like a little chatterbox.
Not only that, but she was also acting like a child, an adorably childish one at that.
"Gabriel, you're no fun, not interesting at all," Jessica pouted at him discontentedly.
Jessica then told Gabriel a joke while he stood there, not laughing.
Jessica was not satisfied; she didn't believe he wouldn't laugh.
"Isn't that funny? Let me think, I'll tell another one. Two tomatoes were crossing the road, a car sped by, one couldn't dodge and got squashed. The other tomato pointed at the squashed one and laughed, 'Haha, ketchup, ketchup.'"
Jessica laughed heartily after telling the joke.
But Gabriel's face remained as calm as water, without any expression.
His face was as tight as before.
Not only did he not laugh, but he didn't even show a hint of expression.
Jessica finally got angry with Gabriel's reaction.
She stood up, without thinking, reached out and put her hands on his face, forcing him to smile.
Finally, Gabriel gave a bitter smile.
But that smile was worse than crying.
Jessica also found it ugly.
She put her hands down and sat back down in the bathtub, leaning her head on the edge of the bathtub.
She looked at Gabriel, her eyes suddenly becoming serious. "How about I tell you another joke? This one is not from the internet; it's my original. It's really funny, I guarantee you'll laugh."
Trembling her eyelashes, Jessica closed her eyes, and in a soft voice, she said, "I once foolishly loved someone for ten years. That person was my bedmate, my husband, but he doesn't remember anything, as if he had amnesia."
"Tell me, isn't that a big joke?" Jessica mocked.
