Chapter 256 Both Angry and Jealous 2
The male nurse immediately looked at Jessica, his gaze loaded with unspoken questions.
Jessica quickly shook her head. "I'm not angry, nor am I jealous."
After saying that, she felt her response might be problematic and quickly added, "You misunderstood. I'm not his girlfriend."
Gabriel suddenly looked at her, his eyes darkening instantly, devoid of any warmth.
She denied it.
And she denied it so decisively, without any hesitation.
The nurse left, and the room returned to silence, leaving only Jessica, Gabriel, and Oscar.
Jessica opened her mouth, about to ask him how he was feeling, if he needed any help, or if he wanted some water.
But before she could say anything, Gabriel's cold voice came through. "Dr. Morgan must be very busy. It wasn't easy for you to take time out of your busy schedule to see me. Since you're busy, I won't keep you."
Dr. Morgan?
She felt a pang in her chest, but she quickly took a deep breath and forced herself to act normal.
Pushing down the turmoil in her heart, she nodded. "Yes, I am a bit busy. Since you've had your medication changed and you're fine, I'll get back to work."
After saying that, she walked away.
As she left, neither of them said goodbye, making the scene feel awkward.
Just as she stepped out, she heard the sound of a cup being smashed inside.
One crash followed another, each one sharp and piercing.
She stopped, leaned against the wall for a while, and only started walking again after calming down.
Inside the room, Oscar was serving carefully.
Others might not know why Mr. Walton was suddenly angry, but he certainly did.
All the cups on the table were smashed, and Gabriel's chest was heaving with anger. Oscar didn't try to console him. He just stood quietly by his side.
Perhaps after venting, Gabriel lay back in bed, closed his eyes, and pretended to sleep.
Oscar opened the door, called someone to clean up the broken glass, and then went to find Jessica.
Jessica had just calmed down and taken a few steps when she heard a voice behind her. "Ms. Morgan, please wait."
Hearing Oscar's voice, she slowed her pace.
Oscar ran to catch up with her, panting. "Ms. Morgan, thank you for coming to see Mr. Walton. Mr. Walton asked me to escort you downstairs."
"Wasn't he just angry?" Jessica asked, "Are you sure he asked you to escort me?"
Oscar immediately smiled to cover up. "Indeed, I can't fool you, Ms. Morgan."
When they reached downstairs and got off the elevator, Oscar finally spoke, "Ms. Morgan, you surely know why Mr. Walton is angry."
Jessica looked up, then sighed and nodded lightly. "Yes, I know."
But even she knew, it didn't change a thing.
Oscar continued, "Everyone knows that Mr. Walton said those things for you to hear. He just wants you to be happy, to care about him a little, even just a little, and he would be happy.
"But you acted too calm, almost indifferent. You let the female nurse change Mr. Walton's medication, which shows you weren't jealous at all. Then you denied being his girlfriend right in front of him. Mr. Walton was so heartbroken that he couldn't help but get angry.
"And he didn't get angry in front of you because he didn't want to scare you. But he was so upset that he smashed the cups. I've been by his side for so long, and it's rare to see him lose control like this.
"Ms. Morgan, Mr. Walton really cares about you now."
Oscar spoke sincerely, doing his job as an assistant to the fullest.
In fact, even if he didn't say these things, Jessica already knew them.
Then she spoke, "Oscar, thank you for your kindness. It's his luck to have someone like you by his side. I'm happy for him."
"It's just that," Jessica's voice took on a deep sadness, "there are too many obstacles and missed opportunities between us. It's not something that can be explained in a few words."
Everyone thought she was fine.
Yes, she smiled every day, went to work as usual, joked and laughed with colleagues, and played around.
But only she knew that her heart had long changed.
She had let go of many obsessions about love.
She no longer had any expectations.
She even thought that in the long journey of life, it would be fine to be alone.
Oscar sighed and returned to the room.
As Gabriel heard the door open, his ears perked up, and he immediately sat up, looking at Oscar. "What did she say?"
As soon as Oscar left, he knew he had gone to find her.
Oscar wasn't surprised. With Gabriel's intelligence, it was no surprise he had guessed.
"Ms. Morgan actually knows," he said.
After he finished speaking, Gabriel became even more depressed, frowning deeply. "She knew and still acted like that. Oscar, do you think she really doesn't care about me anymore? So no matter what I do with other women, she doesn't care?"
"Mr. Walton, I don't know if Ms. Morgan still cares about you, but I think if you like Ms. Morgan and want to be with her, you should seriously pursue her, not get angry with her like this," Oscar answered.
Gabriel remained silent.
"You talk as if you've been in a relationship," Gabriel said.
"Mr. Walton, I did have one," Oscar answered.
Gabriel was shocked. His assistant had a girlfriend, and he, who spent so much time with him, didn't know at all.
Oscar knew what he was thinking and immediately explained, "Mr. Walton, it's my fault. I hid it from you for a while. By the time I wanted to tell you, we had already broken up.
"They say it's hard for those involved to see things clearly. I'm an outsider now, so I might have more insight into your relationship with Ms. Morgan.
"Ms. Morgan has been hurt. She's healing now. If you want to pursue her, you need to do more to win her over, to show her you care, not push her away like this.
"This way, Ms. Morgan will only get further away from you."
After Oscar finished speaking, he was still a bit worried.
He wasn't sure if Gabriel would listen to him.
To his surprise, Gabriel took his advice seriously. "Okay, I know what to do."
He threw off the covers, carefully adjusted his clothes, looked at himself in the mirror, and then pushed the door open, heading downstairs to find Jessica.
But no one expected Jessica to run into Vincent at the hospital.
So when Gabriel arrived, he coincidentally saw Jessica and Vincent talking.
It was just noon, and after saying something, the two of them got on the elevator together, and went downstairs.
For a moment, Gabriel's mind went blank.
Quickly, he reacted and frantically pressed the elevator button.
The elevator was crowded, and the smell was strong. Normally, he wouldn't have gotten in.
But today, without thinking, he clutched his wound and squeezed in, desperately pushing his way inside.
He had to go.
He had to follow them to see what they were up to.
