Chapter 641 Love?
[Did I see that right? What's going on with Mr. Walton?]
[Did Mr. Walton get hacked?]
[Maybe he sent it to the wrong person. Probably meant to send that emoji to Mrs. Walton but accidentally sent it to the group.]
With that, the chat became even more lively.
[Oh my God, Mr. Walton and Mrs. Walton have three kids, and they're still this romantic.]
[I'm so jealous of Mrs. Walton!]
[From now on, Mr. Walton is not just my work idol but also the epitome of an exemplary family man.]
Gabriel quickly replied in the group chat.
[I sent it to the wrong person. These were meant for my wife.]
[Let's start a tradition: any employee of the Walton Group who remains deeply in love with their spouse ten years after marriage will receive a reward from the company. The longer the time, the bigger the reward.]
Instantly, there was a chorus of cheers and applause.
Gabriel then sent all the emojis to Jessica.
Jessica replied with an "I love you" emoji, and Gabriel was very pleased.
Online, the situation with Callie continued to escalate. To divert attention, Callie deliberately leaked the news that Grace was returning to the entertainment industry and was willing to audition for a supporting role.
Although Grace had been out of the entertainment industry for a long time, she was once a top star.
As expected, the news almost crashed Instagram.
People who went to the audition that day confirmed that Grace was indeed there.
The news spread so quickly that Quentin knew by the evening.
Quentin and Grace sat at the same table for dinner but didn't speak to each other.
The atmosphere at the table was eerily quiet. Finally, Quentin couldn't hold back any longer and questioned, "Don't you have anything to say to me?"
"Since you already know, why ask me?"
"I want to hear it from you." He looked into Grace's eyes.
"I don't think it's necessary. Regardless of who expresses it, what truly matters is that you already know."
"Grace." Quentin grabbed her, "Is this your attitude? You can't even bother to explain or placate me?"
"You didn't go to see Jessica's three kids that day; you used her as a cover to go to the audition, didn't you?"
"You have already figured it out, haven't you?"
Quentin's grip tightened. "Since that's the case, let me make it clear: I won't allow you to return to the entertainment industry. It's full of all kinds of people; it's not suitable for you."
"If you need money, just tell me. I'll give you as much as you want to ensure you live comfortably."
"So, should I thank you for that?" Grace looked at him with a sorrowful expression, "Quentin, I don't want to feel trapped. I want freedom."
"Being an actress, acting, is something I genuinely love. It's my dream."
"You may imprison my body, but you can't imprison my heart and dreams."
Quentin remained firm, not budging an inch.
"Anyway, you can't go back to the entertainment industry."
"Quentin, what gives you the right to control my life and arrange everything for me? Can you be reasonable?"
"Do you think Elijah Caudill is a good person? He is greedy and lecherous. Do you think you'll have a good time if you join? Or do you just want Elijah to demand you make love with him?"
These words hit Grace like a dagger to the heart, hurting her deeply. She never knew words could cut more than a blade.
She sneered and retorted, "Don't act so noble. Didn't you demand the same from me back then?"
Quentin gritted his teeth, glaring at her. "Is that how you see our relationship?"
"Otherwise? How do you think I should see it?"
Quentin angrily kicked a chair in the living room, veins bulging on his face. "So, when you made love with me, it wasn't out of love but for the resources and power I held."
Grace laughed bitterly. "Love is such a luxury; how could I deserve it?"
"Or have you fallen uncontrollably in love with me?"
As she said this, Grace suddenly felt her heart race.
She had told herself countless times that Quentin's feelings were rooted in possessiveness and control, not love.
But why did she harbor a sliver of unrealistic hope?
With a sneer, Quentin looked at her with cold, mocking eyes.
That look answered everything.
"Sorry, I was delusional. How could someone as noble as you fall in love with an actress like me? I was being unrealistic."
Finally, she squatted on the ground, her voice almost hoarse.
She looked at him with sorrow and pleading.
"Quentin, I'm begging you, let me go!"
"You see, I can never learn to submit to you or please you. I only clash with you, make you angry, and upset you. Keeping me around won't make you happy."
Grace looked up at him with red eyes and repeated, "Let me go!"
"From now on, we'll be strangers, not interfering with each other."
"You marry your socialite, and I'll live my fallen life."
"I promise not to bother you or cause you any trouble, okay?"
Grace thought that by lowering her pride and pleading with him, he would be somewhat moved.
But unexpectedly, he not only didn't relent but became even more agitated.
"Grace, do you want to leave me that badly?"
"I'm telling you, as I said before, unless I'm dead, it's impossible."
His final refusal was almost spat out through gritted teeth, word by word.
"Forget about returning to the entertainment industry."
"I won't agree."
With that, Quentin stormed out of the living room.
He got into his car.
The streets were eerily empty at midnight.
Quentin unleashed his inner rage and let it roar.
He slammed on the gas and took off.
A few minutes later, a large truck came barreling towards him.
To avoid it, he swerved sharply.
Suddenly, the car veered uncontrollably towards the side of the bridge.
It crashed violently into the bridge.
Instantly, the front of the car was wedged into the bridge, with half of it dangling and the other half resting on the bridge.
Quentin's body was trapped in the front section. Due to the severe impact, he lost consciousness, and blood flowed from his head.
Grace was about to go upstairs when the phone in the living room suddenly rang.
A servant answered the call.
Soon, the servant ran towards her, gasping and exclaimed, "Ms. Morgan, Mr. Taft was in a car accident and is in critical condition."
