Chapter 161 None of Your Business
As Jessica finished speaking, the bathroom fell silent, so quiet that even the sound of running water was crystal clear. However, one second passed, then two, then ten...
She waited and waited, for several minutes, but heard no response.
Jessica opened her eyes and saw that he wasn't in the bathroom; he had already left. She curled her lips into a bitter smile.
It really was a joke!
Even when she spoke, Gabriel didn't want to listen!
'Jessica, you're a complete failure,' She said to herself.
Gabriel walked back into the bathroom and saw her leaning against the edge of the tub, arms hanging down, smiling seductively.
Seeing him come in, Jessica lazily moved her eyes, a seductive glint in them. "Looks like you're really not interested in my jokes. Fine, I won't tell them anymore."
Gabriel placed her nightgown neatly and then said, "You take a bath first, I'll wait for you outside."
Jessica didn't respond, just leaned against the tub and smiled. "Gabriel, are you an idiot? I'm drunk, I can't even stand up, how am I supposed to take a bath? I want you to help me bathe."
After she said that, the air seemed to freeze.
Gabriel looked at her in disbelief. "What did you say?"
"Forget it if you don't want to," Jessica pouted.
At that moment, Gabriel looked at her, his throat moving intensely, thinking, 'Of course, I am willing to, but I don't want to wrong you.'
"Forget it, you can leave!" Jessica pointed to the door.
Suddenly, Gabriel blurted out, "I'm willing."
"But I'm not willing anymore," Jessica said with a smile.
It was nothing; she was just feeling upset and wanted to give him a little ribbing. That way, she wouldn't feel so down.
The door closed, and Jessica sat in the tub. Suddenly, she covered her eyes with her hands and submerged her head deeply into the water.
Her whole body floated in the water, and at that moment, she felt an unprecedented sense of relief.
She didn't feel so tired anymore!
After bathing, Jessica put on her nightgown and went out.
Seeing her flushed face, Gabriel thought she was still very drunk and was a bit worried.
However, as soon as he reached out, Jessica dodged, stating, "I'm fine, you go take a bath!"
"Okay."
When Gabriel finished his bath and came out, the room was already dark. His heart sank, and he felt a bit panicked. At that moment, he was suddenly afraid she had left alone.
It wasn't until he saw the wall lamp and table lamp were on, and she was curled up on the sofa with a blanket, that he felt relieved.
However, as he walked closer, Gabriel's face darkened even more.
Jessica had one hand hanging off the sofa, the other swirling a wine glass, filled to the brim with red wine.
Looking at the wine bottle on the table, he saw that a third of it was already gone.
"Why are you drinking again?" Gabriel frowned.
"Can't sleep, drinking helps." She smiled seductively. "Can you sleep? Why don't you have a drink too? It's no fun drinking alone."
"No more drinking, you've had enough today," said Gabriel.
As soon as he finished speaking, he reached for the glass in Jessica's hand, but she wasn't willing to give it up.
She dodged, keeping a firm grip on the wine glass.
At this point, Gabriel circled behind her, grabbed the glass from her hand, and said, "Put it down, no more drinking."
Jessica resisted, still holding the glass tightly.
Gabriel's brow furrowed deeply.
Jessica's face scrunched up, showing her displeasure.
After a moment of stalemate, Gabriel finally spoke, but his tone was no longer gentle; it had become very stern.
Gabriel was very angry seeing her drink, and in his anger, he said something harsh, "Jessica, have you fallen this far since our divorce?"
In fact, he regretted it as soon as he said it.
But unfortunately, once words were spoken, they couldn't be taken back.
"Fallen?" Jessica repeated the word, savoring it.
Suddenly, she smiled. "So that's how you see me? Yes, Gabriel, I'm not only ordinary but also capable of falling. We're from different worlds. You're so noble, so you should stay far away from me. Why did you bring me to your house?"
"So?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow, looking at her displeased. "Should I just watch Vincent take you to his house, Jessica? Or is that what you were hoping for? Did my appearance ruin your plans, spoil your good time?"
He finished with a disdainful sneer.
Jessica also laughed.
But it was a bitter laugh, a self-deprecating laugh.
Forget it, she had denied it many times, but he never believed her.
Since that was the case, there was no need to deny it anymore.
"Gabriel, you're right. So what if I want to go home with Vincent? Who are you? What right do you have to control me?"
"I've already told you, you'd better keep your distance from me. My simple world can't handle your nobility," mocked Jessica.
Gabriel sneered, "Can't handle mine, but can handle Vincent's? Jessica, let me warn you, don't think Vincent is just an ordinary cop."
"What do you mean?" Jessica looked up at him.
However, he stopped saying anything more.
Jessica pouted, "That has nothing to do with you. We're already divorced anyway."
"Even if we're divorced, I still care about you," Gabriel said domineeringly.
"Why?"
Jessica was naturally displeased. When they were still married, he didn't care about her every move. Now that they were divorced, he was restricting her actions. There was no such rule in the world.
"Jessica, even if we're divorced, you're still part of the Walton family. Don't forget, Xavier always wanted to recognize you as his granddaughter. If he were still here, that promise would be fulfilled. So, we're still family, and I can still care about you."
Jessica found his words amusing.
She laughed, looking at Gabriel. "So now I'm defined as family to you? What kind of family? A sister? Gabriel, ex-wife turned sister, that's quite a surprise. Should I fulfill my duty as a sister and urge you to get married quickly, to bring a sister-in-law home?"
After saying that, Jessica couldn't help but laugh.
How ridiculous it was!
Two years of marriage, and in the end, she was left with the title of "sister."
She must be the biggest fool in the world.
"Gabriel, I was wrong. I always called you a fool, but the stupidest person is actually me. I must have been crazy to..."
The word "like" almost slipped out, but Jessica quickly caught herself.
Gabriel, however, became insistent. He grabbed Jessica's hand, stepped closer, and pressed, "Crazy to what? Say it clearly."
