Chapter 209 Thrilling Rescue 1

It's Gabriel.

He really came!

He came to save her.

Jessica looked at him, forgetting all her fears in an instant.

She forgot about the abyss behind her and that she had been kidnapped.

As long as she looked at him, she felt safe.

"Gabriel!" Jessica called out to him. Her voice trembled uncontrollably.

Gabriel coaxed gently, "Jessica, don't be afraid. I'm here."

Gabriel's eyes were filled with tenderness as he comforted her.

Jessica nodded through her tears, and replied, "Okay, I'm not afraid."

Jessica claimed, "As long as you're here, I'm not afraid."

Mike couldn't stand it any longer and shouted, "Enough with the lovey-dovey stuff! There's plenty of time for that once the money is here."

Mike threatened, "Otherwise, you'll both die."

Gabriel stepped forward and threw the suitcase at Mike.

Gabriel said impatiently, "Here's a million dollars. Count it."

Mike got angry and pulled out a gun, pressing it against Gabriel's head with a sneer, "Mr. Walton, are you kidding me? I asked for ten million dollars."

She called out, panicked, "Gabriel." Jessica's heart almost stopped.

With a real gun pressed against his head, she couldn't help but worry.

But Gabriel stayed calm.

Gabriel reassured her, "Jessica, don't worry. Trust me. I'll be fine."

Seeing his confident smile, Jessica's heart eased a little, but she was still very worried.

It was a gun, after all. If Mike got too agitated or if the gun accidentally went off, the consequences would be unimaginable.

How could she not be afraid!

Gabriel stood straight, his face calm, as if the gun wasn't pointed at his head.

Mike's anger grew, and he sneered, "It seems Mr. Walton isn't afraid of death!"

With a gentle smile, Gabriel looked at Mike, "If I'm not mistaken, you've never seen such a large amount of cash."

Mike retorted impatiently, "So what?"

Gabriel's smile deepened, and remarked, "So, you have no idea how heavy ten million dollars is. You know what, ten million dollars weighs about 132 pounds."

Gabriel questioned, "Do you think I could carry 132 pounds up this mountain?"

After speaking, Gabriel placed his hand on Mike's gun, then took it down together with Mike.

Mike cooperated and quickly put his gun away.

At this moment, someone came over with the suitcase and reported, "Mr. Gonzalez, it's one million."

Mike asked, "Is it all real?"

The person confirmed, "It's real."

Mike looked at Gabriel again, and asked, "Where's the rest of the money?"

Gabriel suggested calmly, "It's at the foot of the mountain. You can send someone to count it now."

Mike agreed, "Fine, you wait here."

Mike immediately sent a group of people down.

Soon, about ten minutes later, Mike received a reply from below, "Mr. Gonzalez, there's five million dollars."

"Where's the remaining four million?" Mike asked impatiently as he looked at Gabriel.

At this moment, Gabriel walked towards Jessica and said, "Give me my wife back, and I'll tell you where the rest of the money is."

"No way,"Mike refused outright.

The previously gentle Gabriel suddenly turned cold and sinister.

His eyes, icy and sharp, stared at Mike, and his words were like blades.

Gabriel pointed out, "Then think carefully. My wife's life is in your hands. I definitely won't deceive you. Even if I did, you already have six million dollars, which is enough."

He continued, "If you find out I tricked you, you can always catch us again. There are only two of us; we can't run far."

Gabriel paused, "But..."

Gabriel's voice turned icy, threatening, "If my wife gets even a scratch, you won't get a single penny."

Mike was furious. He was used to being the one making threats, not the other way around. This reversal made him extremely uncomfortable.

Pulling out his gun, Mike pressed it against Jessica's head.

This time, he had learned his lesson.

Sure enough, Gabriel immediately shouted, "Mike, put your gun down, or you won't get a cent."

Mike sneered, "Mr. Walton, don't you care about your wife's life?"

Gabriel warned angrily, "I'll say it again, if anything happens to my wife, none of you will escape. I, Gabriel, will make sure you die, even if you have the money."

Mike scoffed, "Mr. Walton, are you trying to scare me?"

Although Mike's face looked nonchalant, he was actually scared inside.

Gabriel said sternly, "I'm not trying to scare you. Either release my wife and get all the money, or die here and get nothing. Your choice."

Gabriel's words, firm and powerful, reached everyone's ears.

His cold, sharp gaze swept across each person's face like a blade.

Before Mike could speak, the people around him started to chime in, "Mr. Gonzalez, enough already, we don't want to die."

Another added, "Yeah, Mr. Gonzalez, we still want to enjoy life."

With a crooked smile, Mike moved the gun from Jessica's head to Gabriel's, "How are you going to give me the rest of the money?"

Gabriel explained calmly, "I'll take my wife and leave. Every minute, you'll get two hundred thousand dollars. After twenty minutes, when we're safe, you'll get all the money."

Mike said reluctantly, "Fine, I'll give you a chance."

With that, Mike put down his gun and looked at the person holding Jessica, instructing, "Untie her and let her go."

The moment she was freed, Jessica immediately ran towards Gabriel.

Gabriel also ran towards Jessica.

The wind on the mountaintop was howling, and the two of them hugged each other tightly.

"Jessica," Gabriel murmured as he held her tightly, as if he wanted to merge her into his body.

Gabriel asked gently, "Does it hurt? Did they hurt you?"

He whispered in her ear, his voice trembling uncontrollably.

It was only then that Jessica felt him trembling, the rise and fall of his chest, and his rapid heartbeat.

She realized that he wasn't unafraid; he was scared too.

He was just forcing himself to stay calm because only calmness could help in negotiations.

Jessica hugged him, her hands around his waist, unable to speak through her sobs.

She was scared.

She was very, very scared.

She was afraid of dying here.

She was even more afraid of never seeing him again.

It was only now, holding him tightly, smelling his scent, and hearing his heartbeat, that she felt a bit of reassurance.

The wind on the mountaintop was strong.

Jessica's clothes and hair were blown wildly, dancing in the wind.

"Are you cold?" he asked softly, looking down.

Jessica nodded.

Gabriel immediately took off his long coat and put it on Jessica.

His coat was thick and long, reaching her ankles. With his body heat still in it, she felt especially warm.

Gabriel asked, "Better?"

Jessica replied happily, "Yeah!"

Gabriel suggested, "Hold on to me, let's go home."
