Chapter 429 Overflowing Fatherly Love 2
Gabriel looked at him expectantly. "Oh, Freddy, what secret do you want to tell me?"
He was feeling quite happy inside.
The children were very simple-minded. Freddy's willingness to share his secret with him showed that he liked and trusted him as a father.
"I can tell you, but you have to promise not to tell Mommy!" Freddy added.
"Okay, I promise."
Freddy nodded, then leaned in close to Gabriel's ear. "Daddy, I'm scared of getting my blood drawn."
Based on his earlier behavior, Gabriel had already guessed this.
He just didn't expect Freddy to be so honest about it.
A warm feeling surged in his chest, and not knowing how to express his emotions, Gabriel gave him a big kiss.
Freddy felt a bit embarrassed. "Daddy! There are so many people here!"
But Gilbert said, "Daddy, I'm not scared. You can kiss me too!"
Gabriel immediately freed up his other hand and hugged Gilbert as well, giving him a big kiss.
Gilbert was very happy and looked at his father with admiration.
Gabriel looked lovingly at Gilbert and Freddy in his arms. Although the two brothers were twins, their personalities were very different.
Gilbert was like him, brave and bold, calm and composed.
While Freddy was like Jessica, emotional and affectionate, especially the shyness after being kissed, which was exactly like Jessica.
However, no matter what Gilbert and Freddy were like, he loved them both.
When they went for the next check-up, Freddy kept reminding him, "Daddy, don't tell Mommy about the secret, okay? Gilbert has always kept it for me."
"So, your mom never knew that you are afraid of blood drawing?" Gabriel asked.
Freddy immediately explained, "Daddy, don't misunderstand. I'm not intentionally hiding it from Mommy. If she knew, she would be very worried. She might even cry. She hates to see me in pain."
"So every time I get my blood drawn, I pretend to be very strong, and that's why Mommy doesn't know."
Although Gabriel had guessed this reason, hearing Freddy say it out loud still made Gabriel's heart ache.
"Okay, I'll keep it a secret. Next time I'll hold you, okay?"
"Okay, Daddy, you're the best."
Gabriel then looked at Gilbert. "Gilbert, are you afraid of getting your blood drawn? Do you want Daddy to be with you?"
"No, Daddy, I'm not afraid at all."
When Jessica woke up, she found the room already filled with sunlight.
The curtains were swaying in the breeze; it was a bright and sunny day.
But judging by the sunlight, it seemed a bit late.
Thinking about Freddy's morning hospital check-up, she immediately panicked.
She checked her phone and saw that it was almost ten o'clock.
"Oh my God, how long did I sleep? How did it get so late?" Jessica rubbed her hair, feeling quite guilty.
When she went out of her room, she found the house empty.
She opened Facebook and was about to video call Gabriel when she saw his message.
[Jessica, don't panic. I've already arranged everything and taken Freddy and Gilbert to the hospital. Don't worry, I'll take Freddy for his check-up.]
[There's breakfast on the table. Come to the hospital to find us after your breakfast. Again, don't worry, I'll take care of everything.]
[Good morning, love you!]
At the end was a big heart.
Seeing these messages, Jessica felt much more at ease.
However, she still made a video call.
Seeing her, Freddy and Gilbert were very happy. "Mommy, are you awake? Daddy said you were very tired and told us not to disturb you so you could have a good sleep."
"Yes, I had a great sleep today. Even my skin looks better. Look, am I prettier now?" Jessica replied with a smile.
"Of course, Mommy, you're always beautiful."
"Good, then let Daddy stay with you for now. I'll come to join you as soon as I'm ready, okay?"
"No rush, Mommy. You can take your time and put on some nice makeup before you come."
After saying that, Gilbert and Freddy seemed eager and hung up the call.
Knowing what she was most worried about, Gabriel had already sent a message: [I've taken Freddy for all his check-ups, and we're waiting for the results now. So don't rush, take your time.]
[Okay, thank you, dear,] Jessica replied.
Because of this message, Gabriel was in a great mood, even smiling broadly.
After eating and getting ready, Jessica followed Gilbert and Freddy's advice and put on some makeup.
Although she only did a simple job, she was naturally beautiful, and after a good sleep and some lipstick, she looked radiant.
Jessica arrived at Freddy's ward and opened the door.
At first glance, she almost thought she was seeing things.
It wasn't until she saw Gilbert and Freddy playing inside that she realized she wasn't mistaken.
She couldn't help but be amazed.
Gabriel had decorated the entire room as an "underwater world." It wasn't just the kids; even she was instantly captivated.
No wonder Gabriel had confidently assured her that Freddy would willingly come to the hospital and stay.
He had put so much thought into it.
"Freddy, Gilbert!" Jessica called out, opening her arms wide.
But Gilbert and Freddy just turned around, smiled at her, and said, "Hi, Mommy, you're finally here. Come play with us."
In the past, if they hadn't seen her for so long, Gilbert and Freddy would have run into her arms and kissed her.
But this time, they just greeted her briefly and went back to their world.
She couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed.
Just as she was about to lower her arms, Gabriel walked over and hugged her. "Didn't get to hug Gilbert and Freddy? How about hugging me instead?"
Jessica smiled. "It feels even better."
"By the way, how did you manage to decorate this place in just one day?" Jessica asked curiously.
"Time was tight, so painting was out of the question. I had people use wall coverings instead. As for the decorations, I had a lot of people help, each buying things from different places," Gabriel explained.
"But it's still a bit rough. When we get home, I'll personally design a kids' room for them, take them to an aquarium, go fishing, and diving, and let them see the beauty of the underwater world firsthand."
Jessica looked at him with a smile.
She deliberately said, "It seems like you've forgotten about the mother of your children. What about me? That would make me very sad!"
