Chapter 766 Sweetness 1

"Ms. Sanchez, I'm sorry."

At that point, Grace had no choice but to tell Cara the truth.

Originally, Grace had planned to wait until Ted's sentencing was over and Cara's health had improved before telling her about Beth.

But now, it seemed that she couldn't wait any longer.

Seeing Grace's serious expression, Cara had a bad feeling. "Why are you apologizing? Did something happen to Beth?"

"Ms. Sanchez, Beth..."

At this point, thinking about Beth's passing and everything she went through, Grace's heart ached terribly.

"Say something!" Cara was too anxious and couldn't help but grab Grace's hand.

Suddenly, Quentin held Cara back, his voice deep, "Ms. Sanchez, please calm down."

Taking a deep breath, Grace looked up, her eyes red as she spoke.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Sanchez. I'm very sorry to tell you that Beth has passed away; she has left this world."

Grace's words were like a thunderclap in Cara's mind.

Cara's eyes widened; she couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Grace, say it again?"

"Ms. Sanchez, I know it's hard to accept, but..."

Grace couldn't continue.

"Beth, my Beth, I'm so sorry, it's all my fault."

"Beth, how could you leave me and die alone?"

Cara cried out, and suddenly everything went black, and she fainted.

"Ms. Sanchez, wake up," Grace called out anxiously.

Quentin called for a doctor.

An hour later, Cara woke up.

Cara lay in bed, tears streaming down her face, not saying a word.

"Ms. Sanchez, I know you're very sad and can't accept this fact."

"Beth loved you. All these years, you were the one she cared about the most. Before she died, she specifically asked me to make sure to rescue you and let you have a healthy and happy old age."

Cara's face was pale. "Happy? My daughter is dead, what happiness do I have left?"

"If the price of leaving Ted was Beth's life, I would rather stay with Ted for the rest of my life."

After that, no matter what Grace said, it was useless.

For three days, Cara didn't eat or drink.

Seeing that Cara was about to faint again, Grace was very anxious.

"Ms. Sanchez, don't you want to go see Beth?"

Hearing this, Cara's eyes instantly filled with tears.

"Alright, I haven't seen Beth's grave yet. Grace, can you take me?"

"Ms. Sanchez, please eat something first, get a good night's sleep, and I'll take you first thing in the morning."

"Okay."

The next day, Grace took Cara to Beth's grave.

At the grave, seeing Beth's photo, Cara broke down in tears. "Beth, my daughter, you're gone, how am I supposed to live the rest of my life?"

"How could you be so heartless, not even letting me see you one last time?"

Grace stayed by her side for as long as Cara cried.

At dusk, the two finally left the cemetery.

"Grace, how did Beth die?"

"A car accident, an unexpected accident, no one saw it coming," Grace said.

As she spoke, she clenched her hands, trying not to let Cara see any flaws.

Cara's eyes were swollen, and she didn't say anything more.

The two walked down together.

Two days later, Grace took Cara to a large nursing home.

It was a high-end place, under the Taft Group, and with Quentin's arrangements, the staff wouldn't dare to neglect her.

Here, Cara could spend her old age in peace.

As for Beth's belongings, Grace had converted them all to cash and added some of her own money.

Grace put all the money on a bank card and handed it to Cara.

"Ms. Sanchez, this is what Beth left for you. Use it as you need, and if it's not enough, you can ask me."

But Cara shook her head, "Grace, no need. This place is so nice, I eat well, live, and don't have to worry about anything. What does an old woman like me need so much money for? But I have a favor to ask."

Grace nodded. "Ms. Sanchez, please go ahead."

"Over the years, Ted took me to many places. The last place we went was the poorest, a remote area with many women suffering like me. If possible, I want to ask you to donate this money to them."

"Ms. Sanchez, are you sure?"

Cara nodded. "Of course, donate it."

Grace was very moved and nodded vigorously. "Okay, Ms. Sanchez, rest assured, I'll make sure it gets done."

As she left, Cara held her hand, thanking her over and over again.

But before leaving, Grace left another bank card.

"Ms. Sanchez, you need to keep some money, not much, but enough for emergencies. Please keep it."

After settling Cara, Grace went to visit Beth's grave.

"Beth, the verdict is out: Marlon will never get out of prison."

"And I've taken Ms. Sanchez out and settled her down, you can rest easy."

"But there's one thing I need to confess, about your death, I lied. If Ms. Sanchez knew you met a man like Marlon, she would blame herself terribly. Beth, I made this decision on my own. I hope you won't blame me."

As Grace left the cemetery, it started to drizzle.

It wasn't heavy, just a light rain, drifting with the breeze along the path.

Even though it was raining, Grace felt a sense of relief.

She had finally completed the task Beth had entrusted to her.

As Grace reached the bottom of the hill, a black umbrella came into view.

The umbrella lifted, revealing Quentin's handsome face.

Seeing him, Grace felt a warmth in her heart. Ignoring the slippery path, she ran over in surprise. "When did you get here? Why didn't you tell me in advance?"

"I just arrived."

Quentin extended his hand, his large palm instantly pulling her under the umbrella.

"What do you want for dinner?" he asked in the car.

"Steak, the one you make, is that okay?"

"Sure, but we don't have any at home, we'll need to go to the supermarket."

"Okay, I'll go with you."

Twenty minutes later, the two of them, wearing masks, appeared at the nearest supermarket.

Quentin pushed the shopping cart, and Grace walked beside him.

They first went to the fresh food section to buy steaks. In this area, Quentin's standards were the highest.

So Grace wisely followed his lead, taking whatever he told her to take.

Two minutes later, when Grace stood in the snack aisle, she was stunned.

"Quentin, how did you know I wanted snacks?"

Quentin looked at her indulgently. "What do you want? You have five minutes, take whatever you want."
