Chapter 299 I'm Pregnant with Gabriel's Child
Diana never thought Jessica would be so chill this time around.
Totally caught her off guard.
"He gave me this super important necklace, which means I matter to him. Jessica, you can't seriously think Gabriel's true love is you, right?" Diana said.
Back in the day, Jessica might've backed down.
But after everything she'd been through, she wasn't that insecure girl anymore.
"What else could it be? You?" Jessica shot back, ice-cold.
Diana clenched her fists, realizing Jessica wasn't the same as before.
Jessica's eyes were sharp as she continued, "Diana, I don't care what you're up to today. Whether you're trying to mess with me or drive a wedge between Gabriel and me, it's not gonna work. Honestly, I should thank you. I'll go ask Gabriel why he gave you that necklace."
Diana started to panic.
If Jessica found out the necklace was meant for her, she'd get even more cocky.
"Why? Because of love, obviously," Diana said, raising her voice.
Jessica crossed her arms and smirked, "Or maybe out of pity?"
"What?" Diana's eyes widened in disbelief, "How dare you call it pity?"
Jessica sneered, "Why not? You were down and out, couldn't take care of yourself. The Bush Family had already given up on you. Gabriel felt sorry for you and gave you an expensive necklace."
Diana was so mad she couldn't speak.
After a moment, she trembled with rage, glaring at Jessica, "Say that again, and I'll tear your mouth apart!"
She raised her hand, but Jessica caught it mid-air.
With a forceful push, Jessica flung her hand away, "I suggest you calm down. This hospital's got cameras everywhere. If you try anything, I'll make sure you spend some time in jail.
"Diana, don't think I'm scared of you. I used to put up with you because I thought Gabriel felt guilty and loved you. I didn't want to make things hard for him, so I backed off.
"But now, he's done feeling guilty. He told me he doesn't love you anymore, so I have no reason to back down.
"One more thing, if you mess with Dr. Johnson again, I'll call security and have you thrown out."
With that, Jessica shoved Diana's arm away.
Diana almost fell but managed to stay on her feet, laughing with a wild look in her eyes, "Jessica, you want to be with Gabriel, but do you think it's that easy? I don't believe you can get married and live together with this hanging over you."
After laughing, Diana suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Following protocol, Jessica quickly called the emergency room.
About half an hour later, the doctor came out, pulling off his mask, "She's fine, just fainted from malnutrition and low blood sugar. She's pregnant."
Diana was pregnant?
Jessica was stunned for a moment before pulling out her phone to call Gabriel.
"Jessica," Gabriel's voice came through quickly.
"Gabriel, I..." Jessica started but then hesitated, remembering him saying he hadn't touched Diana. But what if Diana had pulled some trick? After all, a child was involved, and she felt a bit shaken and doubtful. But she didn't want to wrong him either.
Taking a deep breath, Jessica tried to calm herself down. "Diana just came to the hospital to see me."
"She came to cause you trouble. Don't worry, Jessica. I'm coming over right now," Gabriel said.
"No, I already dealt with her, but she fainted. The doctor just said she's pregnant." After saying that, Jessica tilted her head back, holding her breath. The answer that followed was something she desperately wanted to hear but was also afraid to hear. So after speaking, she quickly hung up the phone, wanting to give herself some time to think.
Her phone buzzed, and Jessica knew it was a message from him. But at that moment, she was too afraid to open it. With trembling fingers, she took a deep breath and finally swiped open the message.
The reply was simple: [Jessica, that child is definitely not mine.]
Yes, very simple, but very powerful. Jessica immediately hugged her phone, unable to hold back her tears. It wasn't until the tears wet her cheeks and dripped onto her hands that she realized and gently wiped them away.
She said to herself, "Don't cry, Jessica. This is the result you were hoping for. You should be happy; you should be smiling!"
She quickly tidied herself up in the bathroom, then headed to Diana's hospital room.
Seeing her, Diana coldly lifted her eyelids, asking, "What are you doing here? I know you're not feeling well right now. I told you, I won't let you have it easy."
Jessica sneered, "Why should I feel bad? I just came to tell you that you fainted because of low blood sugar. After the IV, leave our hospital immediately and don't show up in front of me again. And in the future, avoid this hospital for your medical needs. Don't bring bad luck to each other."
With that, Jessica turned and left. But Diana suddenly went berserk. How could she not know she was pregnant? But how could she be so calm, so composed?
Diana was unwilling. She raised her voice and shouted, "Wait a minute."
Jessica paused, a smile tugging at her lips. She knew it. As long as she didn't ask, as long as she pretended not to know, Diana wouldn't be able to hold back. And once Diana spoke, she had won. She had said that from now on, she wouldn't let Diana lead her by the nose. This time, she had to be in control.
"What is it?"
"Jessica, I'm pregnant, carrying a child. Don't you know that?" Diana looked at Jessica with a mix of rage and madness.
Compared to her madness, Jessica appeared exceptionally calm. "So what?"
Jessica's calmness drove Diana to the brink of collapse. Jessica actually asked her back, which was simply incomprehensible.
Diana shouted, "Jessica, are you deaf or mute? I'll say it again. I'm a pregnant woman now. And the child in my womb is not someone else's, it's Gabriel's."
