Elton was about to respond when he saw Grace walking over.
He turned his head and immediately said, "Grace is just in time."
"Hello, Mr. Krueger," Grace greeted Elton with a calm smile.
However, just as Grace finished speaking, Beth's voice turned sharp, "Oh, I was wondering who it was. It's an old acquaintance!"
"Grace, if I hadn't seen you standing here with my own eyes, I would never have dreamed we'd meet here. Didn't you already quit the entertainment industry?"
Grace skillfully deflected her questioning, "Who says I can't make a comeback after leaving the entertainment industry?"
Beth sneered disdainfully, raising her chin arrogantly.
"Looks like the rumors online were true. You are coming back. Haven't seen you in years, but your talking skills have certainly improved."
"Just wondering if your acting has improved too?"
Beth said this deliberately, knowing that Grace hadn't acted in years.
So she intentionally said it for Elton to hear.
"Don't worry, Beth. You don't need to be concerned with my acting skills; I'm well aware of them." Grace replied.
Hearing this, Beth was immediately infuriated.
Her expression turned extremely grim.
"In our industry, just being good at talking isn't enough; you need acting skills too. The shoot starts tomorrow, and I can't wait to see how your acting is."
With that, Beth smiled at Elton and left angrily.
Grace and Elton chatted about the script for a while. When Grace left, Linda covered her mouth with a smile.
"You're something else. Haven't seen you in years, and your rebuttal skills have really improved. Looks like I don't need to worry about you."
"But offending Beth on your first day, the days ahead won't be easy."
Grace wasn't in a hurry and smiled as she asked her.
"Linda, do you think if I didn't argue with her today, flattered her, or tried to please her, she would genuinely treat me well and not cause me trouble?"
Linda immediately shook her head, "Definitely not. With her petty nature, she'd hold a grudge for sure."
"Exactly. Since the outcome is the same, why should I lower myself in front of her? I'd rather be true to myself." Grace remarked.
Linda agreed and admired this mindset.
"You're right. Let's work together and perform excellently to shut them up."
"Once you're settled and your acting is on track, I'll go back and contact more investors and producers to get more business. I know you don't want to rely on Mr. Taft's connections forever. Don't worry, I'm not just your manager for nothing."
"Thank you, Linda. You understand me best." Grace expressed.
The two walked and chatted.
Since it was a palace drama, the crew spent a lot of money building a "Royal Garden."
Although it was winter and the scenery wasn't as beautiful as in spring, it was a beautiful sight in the harsh winter.
Especially with the primroses blooming brightly, emitting a fragrant scent.
"It smells so good, Linda. Let's go take a look." Grace suggested.
"Okay." Lindan nodded.
The two eagerly ran over.
Running too fast, and as they rounded a path, they suddenly bumped into someone.
"Sorry!"
"Sorry!"
They both spoke almost in unison.
However, when they looked up and saw each other, they were both a bit stunned.
"Grace, it's really you? Although the internet claimed you were making a comeback, I couldn't believe it."
"Mr. Krueger just told me you were the second female lead, and I couldn't believe it."
"Now that I see you in person, I can finally believe it."
Marlon was overexcited and grabbed Grace's hand.
Compared to his excitement, Grace appeared much calmer.
"Marlon, so many people are watching. Let go of me to avoid rumors. It's not good for either of us." She reminded.
"Okay, I'm just so happy. Are you available? It's been so long; let's catch up!" Marlon said.
Grace nodded.
They found a pavilion in the "Royal Garden" and sat down.
Marlon was still excited, "Grace, I'm so happy. I never thought I'd get to work with you on your comeback film."
Grace seriously corrected him, "Marlon, Beth is the female lead. Technically, you and she are the main pair."
"But you're the second female lead. I'm very familiar with the script, and we have many scenes together." He said.
"This is a coincidence. Due to confidentiality about the leads, I didn't know you were the male lead beforehand." Grace remarked.
"No matter. We're in the same crew now, and this film will take several months to shoot. Don't worry, I'll take care of you." Marlon replied.
Grace firmly shook her head.
"Marlon, thank you for your concern."
"But it's better if we keep our distance. We were colleagues before, and we'll only be colleagues in the future."
"I'm a bit busy today, so I won't disturb you. I'll be going now."
With that, Grace quickly left.
Marlon, of course, was unwilling and immediately chased after her.
Linda stood in front of him, blocking his way.
"Mr. Hopper, you're not who you used to be. Your status has risen several times. Although everyone here is part of the crew, there's no guarantee that someone won't spread rumors."
"If you go after Grace and people see you two engaging in a physical altercation, it could have a bigger impact on you."
Hearing this, Marlon suddenly calmed down.
He could only watch Grace leave.
After dealing with Marlon, Linda quickly caught up.
"Grace, wait for me!"
Grace looked back worriedly, "Linda, he didn't follow, did he?"
"Don't worry. Mr. Hopper values his reputation. Once I explained the situation, he definitely wouldn't follow." Linda replied.
"That's good." Grace nodded.
Linda was also surprised, "I didn't expect it. After all these years, he still has feelings for you. Should I say he's devoted or still infatuated with your beauty?"
Grace laughed, "Do you think he really likes me?"
This question made Linda a bit more clear-headed, and she replied.
"A few years ago, his crazy pursuit was one part genuine and nine parts wanting to gain fame through you. As for now, it's because he feels unsatisfied. He thinks you've fallen, and he's risen, so he feels he has a chance. Who knows why he's so confident?"
Grace concluded, "So, in the end, it's all about benefits. He can abandon his girlfriend of seven years without a second thought. What genuine feelings could he have for me?"
"Beth is fine. Ironically, I'm most worried about Marlon."
"In any case, apart from acting, we must keep our distance from him."
After walking around, Grace and Linda were about to head back when Beth suddenly swaggered over, her fingers hooked around a coffee bag, looking extremely arrogant.
