Chapter 243 "Jessica, I don't agree to break up."
Jessica looked at him coolly. "No, Mr. Walton. I just remembered there are some things I haven't told you yet, and I thought I should say them to you in person."
"What things?" Gabriel asked.
Jessica gripped the ribs of her umbrella tightly. Through the heavy rain, she suddenly smiled, her voice gentle yet firm.
She took a deep breath, as if inhaling knives, and spoke with a heart-wrenching pain, "Gabriel, let's break up."
With that, she turned resolutely, holding her umbrella.
But Gabriel, having waited so long for her to come out, wasn't about to let her go back so easily.
He stepped forward and pulled Jessica into his arms.
"Let go." Jessica struggled fiercely. "Gabriel, let go of me. Do you know what you're doing? This is coercion. I could sue you."
"Fine, if you want to sue me, go ahead. I won't stop you. But Jessica, tonight, no matter what, I won't let you go," Gabriel said firmly.
"You're crazy. Let go of me," Jessica cried in desperation.
She fought back, hitting and kicking him with all her might.
But it was no use. Gabriel held her tightly, giving her no chance to escape.
In their struggle, the umbrella fell to the ground.
Rain poured down on both of them.
Soon, Jessica was completely soaked.
The wind howled and roared relentlessly.
After several minutes, Jessica had no strength left. She could only let Gabriel hold her tightly in his embrace.
He held her as if he were holding onto the whole world.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, breathing heavily.
His hot breath on Jessica's neck made her shiver.
"Gabriel, what's the point?" Jessica said weakly. "I gave you a chance, but you chose her. Since you've made your choice, you shouldn't regret it."
She continued, "We're adults, not children. We should be responsible for our choices."
"No," Gabriel shook his head vigorously. "No, Jessica, I didn't choose her."
His voice was trembling. "I owe her. I just want her to finish her surgery. Once her legs are healed, I'll send her away. She won't disturb our lives anymore. I'll propose to you. We'll get married and live happily ever after, having lots of kids."
Jessica sneered.
She turned, her slender fingers suddenly reaching out to touch Gabriel's face. "But you've promised me too many times and lied to me too many times.
"Gabriel, I don't even know which of your words are true anymore. I've believed you too many times, but you've disappointed me again and again.
"Unfortunately, I can't believe anything you say now. Sending Diana away? It's all lies. Admit it, you can't forget her."
Jessica tried to pry his hands off her waist.
But the more she tried, the tighter Gabriel held her.
Gabriel explained, "Jessica, I admit I lied about Diana, but everything about you is true.
"I want to marry you; that's true. I want to grow old with you; that's true too.
"Jessica, let's have a baby!"
That night, in her dreams, she kept calling out for a baby. Maybe if they had a baby, she wouldn't be haunted by nightmares anymore.
They could have a fresh start, and everything would be different.
Jessica trembled with anger. How could he say such things so shamelessly?
"Gabriel, you're really shameless." Jessica turned to look at him, staring into his eyes as she spoke.
"Jessica, I'm sincere. I know losing the baby was a huge blow to you. I want to make it up to you and the baby," Gabriel said.
"But I don't need it anymore, Gabriel. I don't need your compensation. Don't you understand?" Jessica shouted in despair. "All I want now is to leave, to get far away from you. Let go of me, you jerk."
Leave?
Impossible.
He could accept everything, including her shouting, her hitting, her anger, even her beating him.
But he couldn't accept her leaving him.
Looking at Jessica, Gabriel suddenly cupped her face and kissed her wildly.
His hands, like steel, gripped her waist tightly, as if he wanted to merge her into his body, into his bones.
Their tongues clashed fiercely, as if only this way he could feel her presence.
And only this way could she feel at ease.
Jessica's heart was filled with sorrow. Once, kissing was such a beautiful, romantic thing, but he had turned it into something she feared.
She feared his madness, his recklessness.
Gabriel, how did we end up like this?
It used to be so wonderful!
Jessica tried desperately to push him away, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't.
She bit her lip, clenching her teeth, but Gabriel forcefully pried her mouth open, continuing his assault.
He gave her no time or chance to breathe.
In the end, Jessica gave up.
She stopped struggling and resisting.
She even began to respond to him.
Until Gabriel let his guard down, she suddenly opened her mouth and bit down hard.
Instantly, their mouths were filled with blood and the taste of iron.
"Gabriel, let go of me." Jessica looked at him coldly again.
"Jessica, that's not going to happen," Gabriel said.
Jessica was truly furious.
Without thinking, she lifted her leg and delivered a sharp knee to Gabriel's groin, catching him completely off guard.
It was so quick and sudden that Gabriel couldn't react in time. He let go of Jessica in pain.
Jessica seized the opportunity, turned, and left without hesitation, heading upstairs.
In the rain, Gabriel stood alone.
Afraid he might chase her, Jessica ran up frantically and shut the door.
Panting heavily, she walked to the window.
She saw he hadn't left. He was still standing there, looking up at her place.
Her phone buzzed with a Facebook message from him: [Jessica, I don't agree to break up.]
Jessica was furious. How dare he?
He had already chosen Diana. Why did he still want to keep her?
She wasn't his pet, to be summoned and dismissed at will. She couldn't accept that.
Pulling the covers over her head, Jessica forced herself not to think about him.
The next morning, her phone rang. Jessica thought it was her alarm for work.
Answering it, she found it was a call from Oscar.
He said urgently, "Ms. Morgan, Mr. Walton is sick and in the hospital. It's urgent. Can you come see him?"
