Chapter 814 Unexpected Accident
"Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on her?"
Linda said as she quickly rushed back to the ward.
"Grace!"
Linda was already a bit anxious as she reached the door, eagerly calling out.
However, when Linda walked in, she found the scene before her was completely different from what she had imagined.
She thought Grace would be heartbroken, devastated, even inconsolable.
But everything in front of her told her that Grace was doing quite well.
"Linda, weren't you busy with work? Why are you back?" Grace asked, looking surprised.
"I heard from Susan that you checked your phone. Grace, how are you?"
Linda walked over, worried that Grace's state was just a facade, so she asked cautiously.
Grace's lips curved into a soft smile. "Linda, to be honest, I did see that trending topic. I have to say, the photography was excellent. Quentin and Caroline look like the perfect couple, very well-matched."
"I was sad and upset, but you were right. I should look forward and not be trapped in the past and memories."
"So, Linda, you don't need to worry about me. Focus on your work, I'm fine."
Linda nodded. "Alright, then I'm relieved."
Grace rested for two days until she fully recovered before starting to record the show.
What warmed her heart was that as soon as she arrived at the filming location, everyone was very concerned about her recovery, and no one blamed her.
This episode required some running, and since she had just recovered, Mark cared about her.
"It's okay, Grace. We don't have to come in first this time. Otherwise, if we're always first, the audience won't have any anticipation."
With Mark's reassurance, Grace felt very relaxed.
Although they lost in the rankings, she was in a great mood.
The show was filmed for an entire day, and by eight in the evening, it was almost over, with only the last segment left.
It was break time.
"Grace, have some water!" Mark handed her a bottle of mineral water.
Thinking about yesterday's events, he hesitated to speak.
But Grace took the initiative and said openly, "It's okay, ask whatever you want to ask!"
"How are things between you and Quentin now?" Mark finally asked with concern.
Taking a sip of water, Grace thought for a moment and carefully chose her words. "We're fine now. It's just that we probably won't see each other again in the future, or even if we do, we'll act like strangers, not recognizing each other."
"How could it come to this?" This was not the outcome Mark expected.
"Grace, is there some misunderstanding between you two? Although I don't like Quentin, I want you to be happy. I've already told him that if he chooses you and gives up Caroline, you would forgive him. What is he thinking?"
The more Mark spoke, the angrier he became.
This time, Grace was much more composed. She smiled faintly and said, "Thank you, Mark, thank you for trying so hard to help me."
"But the result is clear. He firmly chose Caroline. Maybe he doesn't love me enough, or maybe he can't resist Caroline's allure, but it doesn't matter anymore."
"Because this time, it's not that he doesn't want me, it's that I don't want him."
Looking into the distance, Grace spoke firmly.
The director called for everyone to gather for the final segment of filming.
It was said that the stage was set up very romantically. The female guests would wear their most beautiful dresses, sit on swings, and slowly descend through the mist created by dry ice.
Then the male guests would wear formal attire and gallantly invite their partners.
The two would hold hands and complete a romantic dance together.
This was also to enhance the bond between partners.
Mark was very much looking forward to this scene.
Although in real life, he and Grace might never be together, and his dream might never come true.
But if he could have a romance with her on the show, he would be very happy and satisfied.
As the music started, the host's voice echoed in their ears, "Now, the male guests can go and take the female guests' hands and invite them to dance."
Mark could hardly contain his excitement, trying to calm his racing heart. He walked over gracefully, step by step.
"Grace." He smiled gently as he spoke.
However, before he could finish his sentence, someone suddenly shouted on set, "Everyone, move away quickly! There's a problem with the props!"
Mark looked up and saw the swing above losing balance.
Grace didn't expect the props to malfunction either. Before she could react, the swing she was sitting on started to sway wildly.
She was about to fall off.
"Grace, don't be afraid. I won't let anything happen to you."
The other female guests were also panicking, but three of them were relatively stable. Another swing was also swaying significantly, but it was closer to the ground, so even if she fell, it wouldn't be too dangerous.
But Grace's situation was different. She was the farthest from the ground. If she fell from that height, she might not die, but she would be seriously injured, and the consequences would be unimaginable.
The scene was chaotic. As soon as Mark finished speaking, the rope of Grace's swing snapped.
Everyone was shouting, "Save her, quickly!"
"Hurry, call 911."
In the ambulance, Grace was trembling all over.
She held Mark's hand, crying uncontrollably. "Mark, you fool, why did you rush over? Do you know how dangerous that was?"
When the swing broke and she fell, it was too late to save her.
However, no one expected Mark to rush over without thinking, cushioning her fall with his body.
She was fine, but Mark was seriously injured.
Mark vomited a large amount of blood on the spot.
"Grace, I promised to protect you. I can't break my promise."
"And I want to prove to you that even though I'm younger, I can protect you, so don't underestimate me..."
Before Mark could finish, he vomited another mouthful of blood.
"Mark, don't talk. We're almost at the hospital."
"Promise me, you have to be okay. You have to be fine."
Mark nodded.
When the ambulance arrived, he was quickly taken to the emergency room.
Grace anxiously waited outside, looking worried.
Two hours passed, and there was no news from the emergency room. Grace became increasingly anxious.
Suddenly, there was a commotion in the hallway, followed by a group of people walking in, with bodyguards neatly lined up.
In the crowd, a stern and cold Kenneth walked in with large strides.
Kenneth's gaze was as cold as a sharp sword, devoid of any warmth.
