Chapter 349 Romance on the Snow

Gabriel was totally taken aback. He spun around, eyes sharp as he stared at Jessica. "What did you just call me?"

"Honey!" Jessica didn't hold back. She looked right at him and said it again, her voice soft and mesmerizing.

If this was her last shot, she wasn't about to let it slip away. She wanted to grab it with both hands, hold on tight.

In that moment, Gabriel felt like the world had gone silent. Amidst the falling snow, everything else seemed to disappear. It was just him and her.

He couldn't resist any longer. Pulling Jessica close, his big hands gently cradled her face. Then, his lips, trembling slightly, met hers.

Gabriel's lips were cold from the weather. So were Jessica's. But when they touched, they quickly heated up.

Jessica clung to him, letting go of all her reservations and shyness, kissing him back passionately.

Any other time, she would've been embarrassed to act like this in public.

But as she thought about leaving and realized this might be their last wild moment together, suddenly, she didn't feel shy at all.

She wanted to toss all her reservations and bashfulness aside. Right now, all she wanted was to fully feel Gabriel's presence, to take in everything about him.

The snow kept falling as they held each other, kissing deeply under the warm glow of the streetlights. Snowflakes landed on their shoulders, creating a beautiful scene.

On their way back, Jessica lay quietly on Gabriel's back, her arms around his neck. His broad, warm back felt like home. Though it seemed they walked forever, they arrived in no time. Jessica wished this road would never end and that they could keep walking endlessly together. But she knew those were just her wild dreams.

'Why can't people who love each other just be together? Why do we have to be torn apart like this?' she wondered, as snowflakes fell gently on her face. Even God didn't have an answer.

"Put me down!" Jessica said when they reached the door.

"Why don't I just carry you in?" Gabriel replied, and he carried Jessica all the way to the bedroom. He ran her bath, got her pajamas and towel, and turned on the heater.

Jessica slipped into the warm water, feeling instantly comfortable. However, thinking about the babies, she knew she couldn't soak for too long and got out after ten minutes.

After changing into her pajamas, she washed her hair. She quickly dried her hair and walked out of the bathroom, only to find Gabriel wasn't in the room.

Panic hit her. She didn't even care about her wet hair and shouted, "Gabriel, Gabriel."

Hearing her, Gabriel tossed his cigarette and rushed in from the balcony, pulling Jessica into his arms.

He had only stepped out for a smoke, gone for just a few minutes. He thought it was no big deal, but he didn't expect Jessica to be so anxious and panicked without him around.

"Where did you go?" Jessica's voice was still shaky and panicked, but hearing his heartbeat reassured her that he was really there.

"I didn't go far; I just stepped out to the balcony for a smoke. Didn't want the smoke to bother you."

As soon as Gabriel finished, Jessica hugged him tightly again, like a scared deer afraid he'd disappear.

Gabriel sensed something was off and asked, worried, "What's wrong? You scared I'll leave?"

"Yeah, it's cold today, and holding you feels nice." Jessica quickly changed the subject, realizing she might be overreacting, and hugged him tighter.

Maybe because he had just smoked, there was still a hint of smoke on him. Jessica actually found the smell kind of sexy, kind of comforting. She thought to herself, 'Maybe this is what it means to love someone—not just loving him, but even his scent.'

Seeing the water droplets in Jessica's hair, Gabriel led her to the sofa to sit down. Then he went to the bathroom, grabbed a hairdryer, and carefully dried her hair.

The room was already warm, so it took less than ten minutes for her hair to be completely dry.

Putting away the hairdryer, Gabriel looked at her. "We were out in the cold for a while. You should get to bed. I'll join you after I finish some work."

"Are you going to the study?" Jessica asked.

Gabriel nodded.

Normally, she would have understood and let him go, but today, she wanted to keep him by her side, even if just for a few more seconds.

Seeing him at the door, about to leave, her heart raced. She ran over without even putting on her shoes, hugging his waist. "Honey, can you not go to the study tonight? Just stay with me and our babies?"

Hearing her sweet, soft voice, Gabriel nodded without hesitation. "Okay," he said.

He turned around and hugged Jessica. His slender fingers gently stroked her soft hair. "Why are you so clingy today?"

To ease his doubts, Jessica said playfully, "When the company was in crisis, you were always busy. I kept telling myself you had important things to do and couldn't be with me."

"But now that things are better, I really want you to stay with me and our babies tonight."

As she spoke, Jessica silently thought, 'Gabriel, I'm sorry for deceiving you, but this is the last day you'll be with me and our babies, the last night we'll be together. Forgive my selfishness, I really want to cherish our last night.'

Hearing Jessica's words, Gabriel sighed. His hand gently caressed her cheek. "Jessica, you've had a tough time lately, and I've neglected you. Sorry, I haven't been there for you and the babies."

Jessica shook her head, her smile filled with tears. "No, we never blamed you. We love you, so we support you unconditionally."

"Thank you, Jessica."

How lucky he was to have such a wife.

Gabriel's heart was filled with a storm of emotions, wave after wave. But when his gaze fell on Jessica's bare feet, his voice immediately turned serious, "Where are your shoes?"
