Chapter 474 Shall We Keep the Baby?

On the way back, Jessica searched for educational videos about miscarriages.

When she saw the content, she was already terrified.

The entire process of a miscarriage was extremely cruel.

At night, when she slept, those horrifying images kept replaying in her dreams.

Every moment cut deep into her heart.

In the dream, it was as if an invisible hand was choking her neck, frantically questioning her, "Jessica. How could you be so heartless? You even killed your baby."

"Jessica, you're too cruel."

Hearing these words, Jessica broke out in a cold sweat.

Not just her forehead, soon her entire clothes were soaked.

Gabriel guessed she might be having a nightmare. He gently pushed her and called out, "Jessica, Jessica, wake up!"

"Honey, it's okay. I'm here with you. Don't be afraid."

But no matter how he called, it had no effect. Jessica still had her eyes closed, her head restlessly moving.

Moreover, her face was full of fear and terror, and she kept shouting, "No, don't!"

"I'm sorry, I know I was wrong."

Finally, with a startled scream, Jessica reached out frantically, suddenly grabbing at nothing, and then she woke up.

Seeing Gabriel, she immediately threw herself into his arms in fright. "Honey, I was scared. I just had so many dreams, nose to tail, I wanted to wake up but couldn't."

"I dreamed about the miscarriage. It was so terrifying, you know? They use forceps on the already formed baby..."

Jessica couldn't continue speaking.

"Honey, I regret it. I've changed my mind. Let's not be so cruel, okay?"

"Can we keep the baby?"

Jessica looked up at Gabriel, her eyes filled with tears.

Just thinking about those cruel images made her feel suffocated.

"Honey, it's okay now. It's good that you're awake. How about I hold you while you sleep?"

Jessica still shook her head. "No, just thinking about those images makes me unable to sleep."

"Then I'll stay with you."

Gabriel held her tightly for about an hour, playing some soft music through headphones, and Jessica's emotions finally calmed down a bit.

Seeing she was sleepy, he whispered in her ear, "Sleep, I'll stay with you. I won't go anywhere."

Jessica suddenly grabbed his clothes and seriously asked, "Gabriel, I remember every word the doctor said clearly. She said the baby was almost formed. It would be really cruel to abort now, so promise me, we'll keep the baby, okay?"

Seeing Gabriel not speaking, frowning tightly, Jessica held him even tighter. "Honey, promise me, we'll keep the baby. We won't have an abortion, okay?"

"Okay?"

As she asked, tears streamed down her face.

She looked like a complete mess, her face reflecting utter heartbroken.

"Okay."

Looking at her, Gabriel couldn't bear it and finally relented. "Okay."

Hearing this answer, Jessica felt relieved.

She hugged his waist and fell asleep contentedly.

This time, she still dreamed.

But it was no longer those bloody, terrifying dreams.

Instead, there was a little girl in the dream, crying and calling out to her. "Mommy, Mommy."

Every time the little girl called "Mommy," Jessica's heart ached.

Especially seeing those tearful, clear, and bright eyes, she felt even more heartbroken.

"Mommy, I'm your baby. I promise I'll be very good. Please don't abandon me, don't leave me, okay?"

"Mommy, I've been waiting in heaven for you to come get me. If you don't want me, I'll disappear. Mommy, you must come get me, okay?"

"Mommy."

Finally, she heard her response.

She saw herself picking up the little girl, gently wiping her tears. "I'm sorry, baby. I promise I'll come get you and bring you home."

"Not just me, but your daddy and your brother are all looking forward to your arrival."

"Okay, Mommy. I'll wait for you to come get me. You mustn't go back on your word!"

"Okay, I promise."

Dreaming up to this, Jessica fell into a contented sleep with a smile.

The next morning, Jessica told Gabriel about this warm dream.

But he seemed uninterested, probably because he hadn't rested well.

"Honey, I'm going to the bathroom. If you're still sleepy, go back to sleep."

"Okay."

Jessica was planning to take a nap since Danielle had taken Freddy and Gilbert out to play, making it a good time to sleep.

But suddenly, she felt nauseous and was about to run to the bathroom.

But she heard Gabriel's voice from inside. "Okay, prescribe the medication. I'll convince her to try the medical abortion first. If that doesn't work, we'll take the next step."

If she hadn't heard it with her ears, Jessica wouldn't have believed it.

He was just discussing the medical abortion with the doctor!

But he had promised her last night that they would keep the baby.

Feeling that something was off, Gabriel turned around and saw Jessica standing at the door, heartbroken.

She was holding onto the wall, her eyes filled with sorrow, her face full of pain.

Gabriel panicked. He hung up the phone and immediately walked over.

However, before he could touch Jessica's arm, she pushed him away.

"Don't touch me. First, tell me, is what I just heard true?"

"I'm sorry, honey."

But instead of denying it, he admitted it.

"Why?" Jessica's eyes filled with tears, and she looked at him, a mix of anger and sadness in her eyes. "Why did you go back on your word? You promised me, Gabriel. You said it yourself. Did you forget?"

"Honey, calm down. Let me explain."

Gabriel reached out to hug her, but Jessica, in her anger, wouldn't let him.

She struggled violently.

Gabriel had no choice but to hold her tightly, not giving her a chance to leave.

Unable to break free, Jessica became even angrier. She cried and pounded on him, trying to make him let go.

"Gabriel, we can't be so cruel. That's a living being. How can we cruelly kill it?"

"Do you know that from the moment the doctor said it was almost formed, I hesitated? Especially yesterday, when I heard it calling me 'Mommy' in my dream, I decided that no matter what, I would give birth to it."

"Why did you go back on your word? Do you know how heartbroken I am right now?"
