Vincent didn't make a point to look.
But the moment he took it, his eyes easily caught the words on it.
It was a prescription, and some of the drug names seemed familiar; he remembered encountering them before.
Rubbing his temples, he tried to recall but couldn't.
Finally, as Vincent stepped on the gas pedal, a few words suddenly popped into his mind.
Those drugs were for a specific illness.
Thinking about it now, a lot of things suddenly made sense. 'No wonder Jack suddenly found me and said he could get Jessica out.'
'It turns out Jack had this illness.'
At the traffic light, Vincent folded the prescription carefully and put it away.
Jack went to see Jessica the next morning.
The moment Jessica saw Jack, she was a bit surprised, but then it all seemed to make sense.
Patricia had been in trouble for a few days, and Jack should have returned.
"Not surprised to see me?" Jack asked, his tone was a bit gentle.
"Expected, isn't it?"
"Indeed, but aren't you curious why I'm here today?"
"Besides Patricia, I don't think you have any other reason to see me," Jessica replied.
But Jack shook his head, "I've already seen my mom. She said she has confessed and is willing to accept legal punishment and all consequences."
"She asked me not to press charges, just to wait for the court's verdict."
"I agreed to her proposal, so you guessed wrong."
Jessica's eyes were filled with astonishment as she looked at Jack, "Why?"
"None of that matters now. What matters is the result. You've always wanted my mom to pay for what she did. Now, she finally will. Isn't that what you wanted?"
Jessica nodded, "Yes, your mom broke the law, and she should face the consequences so I won't feel sorry."
Jack looked at her, "Maybe you're right. Legally, I can't argue with you."
"Jack," suddenly, Jessica looked at him, "I have a question for you, and I hope you'll answer honestly."
"At this point, ask away."
Taking a deep breath, Jessica slowly began, "You knew your mom would take action against my mother-in-law, and you even predicted the approximate time, didn't you?"
"Why do you say that?"
"Not only that, but you also leaked the news of my mother-in-law's car accident to Gabriel. The weather was bad those days, with constant rain and fog. You knew Gabriel would rush back upon hearing the news."
"You had everything planned out and deliberately told Gabriel, making sure he boarded that dangerous flight, didn't you?"
Although it was Jessica's speculation, her words were full of certainty.
These days, she had been thinking in the ward.
The more she thought, the more suspicious it seemed. There couldn't be such coincidences in the world.
She just wanted the truth.
"What if I say no?" Jack crossed his hands, his resolute face showing no emotion.
Jack remained as calm as ever, revealing no trace of emotion.
Jessica didn't break down hysterically.
She just shook her head and said firmly, "I don't believe you."
"You should know I can't control the plane's takeoff." Jack retorted.
"True, but that city's weather is often rainy. Flying in the rain is common for them, so you calculated that the plane would likely take off. You were gambling, gambling that Gabriel would board the plane, gambling on the chance of a crash, weren't you?"
"Maybe it was a slim chance, but you won the gamble," Jessica said.
She placed her hands on her knees, clasping them tightly, trying to calm down.
Otherwise, she feared she might have the urge to kill Jack.
"Since you've guessed everything, why ask?" Jack looked at her calmly.
"I just want a definite answer. I want to hear you admit it."
Jack didn't speak.
But at that moment, his silence was an affirmation.
This time, Jessica finally broke down completely.
She stood up, grabbing Jack's tie and holding it tightly, "Jack, how dare you?"
"I never thought you could be this scary, but how could you be so terrifying?"
"Do you know who Gabriel is? Gabriel is your biological brother. Even if you don't want to admit it, you have the same father. How can you be so heartless?"
After yelling, Jessica suddenly let go of him weakly.
"Forget it, someone as heartless as you, no matter how much I say, you won't be moved."
So, she didn't want to waste any more time.
At this moment, Jack's gaze suddenly fell on Jessica's belly.
"I heard you're pregnant."
Jessica stubbornly turned her head away, ignoring him.

Jack's eyes grew warm.

Jack stood up straight and carefully adjusted his clothes.
Only when his suit was perfectly neat did he look at Jessica and say, "Today might be the last time we meet."
"You've said that before."
Jessica didn't believe Jack's words.
More importantly, she didn't want to see Jack again.

As if afraid Jessica wouldn't believe him, Jack looked at her and added firmly, "This time, it's true."
