Chapter 455 Unveiling, Buried Past
Gilbert, with his eyes closed, was waiting for Jessica to kiss him!
But Gilbert waited for a long time without receiving his mom's kiss.
He opened his eyes and saw Jessica daydreaming. Gilbert immediately spoke up, "Mommy, are you thinking about Daddy?"
"A little bit!"
"Then you should kiss me more because I look so much like Daddy," Gilbert said narcissistically.
Freddy, on the side, said, "Clearly, I look more like Daddy."
Then, Gilbert and Freddy suddenly argued.
In a moment, Gilbert and Freddy were red-faced from their argument.
Jessica remained silent.
Finally, she squatted down and hugged Gilbert and Freddy, giving each of them several kisses.
Only then did Gilbert and Freddy look at each other and make peace.
Jessica continued to ask, "So what exactly did you do to help Grandma?"
This time, Gilbert and Freddy were distracted.
"We said we wanted to call Mommy, so Grandma gave us the phone. We immediately called Grandpa and asked if he was hurt, saying Grandma was very worried about him."
It had to be said, that Gilbert and Freddy were incredibly smart.
"We told Grandpa that Grandma asked us to call him, and Grandpa was so happy to hear that."
Jessica nodded, "Gilbert and Freddy were amazing today. How about I reward each of you with a piece of chocolate later?"
Hearing about the chocolate, Gilbert and Freddy were overjoyed.
They immediately clapped, beaming, "Mommy is the best."
"But you can only have a small piece!" Jessica added in advance.
They were still very satisfied and nodded vigorously, "Okay, thank you, Mommy!"
In the living room.
Jonah couldn't care less about the cut on his face. Just thinking about what he heard on the phone made his heart boil over with excitement.
Reaching out, he grabbed Danielle's arm excitedly.
"Danielle, don't worry. I'm fine. It's just a scratch, nothing serious."
"Your skin is all torn up, and there's blood on your face, and you say it's nothing?"
Danielle looked at him, feeling a pang of compassion.
She stood up and started walking, "Come with me."
"Okay!"
Jonah responded, feeling happy despite his injury.
In the guest room, the servant had already prepared the first aid kit.
"Mrs. Walton, here's the first aid kit you asked for."
"Okay, you can leave now."
Sensing something unusual between Jonah and Danielle, the servant thoughtfully closed the door on her way out.
"Sit over there," Danielle instructed.
Jonah obediently sat down. Seeing her open the first aid kit and prepare the supplies, he suddenly felt nervous and said, "Are you going to treat my cut?"
"The iodine is dark; don't get your hands dirty. Maybe we should let the servant handle it."
"Don't talk. Just sit still when I tell you to."
Danielle's low growl made Jonah immediately fall silent.
Jonah sat quietly.
Today, Danielle was wearing a soft, sophisticated outfit, a floral long dress with a slight slit at the leg.
She had a great figure, and even though she was over fifty, she still looked very young, easily passing for forty.
She was different from Patricia, whose face was just barely holding up with the help of makeup.
Danielle came from a good family and had always taken great care of herself, frequently visiting beauty salons for skin care.
So Danielle had always taken good care of herself, with fair, soft, and glowing skin.
As Danielle applied the medicine to Jonah, she bent slightly, holding the medicine box in one hand and a cotton swab in the other, disinfecting and cleaning his face.
She was particularly focused while applying the medicine, as if nothing could distract her.
Suddenly, a strand of her hair fell from her forehead, loosely hanging by her ear.
Another strand fell.
With her hair down, she looked gentle and charming.
Especially with the subtle fragrance she wore, she seemed even more beautiful.
Jonah looked at her as if he were holding his breath.
Recently, he found himself reminiscing about their early days of marriage. Back then, they were deeply in love.
Wherever they went, people praised them as a loving couple, saying they were a perfect match.
Indeed, in the first few years of their marriage, their love was evident to everyone, even envied by everyone in the high society.
Danielle soon got pregnant and gave birth to Gabriel.
But soon, the good times didn't last.
After that incident, Jonah and Danielle had a fierce argument.
Neither was willing to admit fault.
They treated each other coldly from then on.
They lived together but barely spoke to each other.
Later, on their third wedding anniversary.
With Dad's guidance and support, their relationship softened significantly, showing signs of reconciliation.
But then, he was set up by Patricia.
That morning, Danielle opened the door and saw him and Patricia in the bed.
How could he explain?
Even if he had a thousand reasons, he still made a mistake.
After all these years, he still remembered her look of despair and heartbreak that day.
And there was a deep hatred that filled her heart.
He wanted to explain, but she turned and left without saying.
She looked so cold as if she didn't care about him at all, as if it had nothing to do with her.
Only then did he realize that whether he cheated or not, and with whom, she didn't care.
The only person she cared about was that man.
The man who filled her youth took away all her joy and made her willing to face life's storms together.
Ridiculous!
A perfect match? An enviable marriage?
It was all a joke. His loving wife only saw him as a substitute and comfort for another man.
It was just ridiculous!
Male pride and ego wouldn't allow him to admit fault.
So, Jonah and Danielle continued to treat each other coldly.
From then on, she started following Dad to the company, gradually learning to handle things independently.
Later, on their tenth wedding anniversary.
Just as Jonah and Danielle's relationship had eased over the years, and they were talking more.
Patricia came back.
She brought a child, claiming it was his.
He didn't believe it, but the results of three DNA tests confirmed that the child was indeed his son.
So, their relationship fell apart again.
And it stayed that way until now.
Memories flooded his mind.
His gaze fell on Danielle, who was seriously applying medicine to him, and Jonah was filled with regret and pain.
"Danielle, I was wrong..." Looking at her gentle profile, Jonah trembled as he spoke.
However, before he could finish, Danielle suddenly looked up and interrupted him, "The medicine is applied. Don't get it wet for the next few days."
With that, Danielle packed up the first aid kit and got up to leave.
Seeing her about to leave, Jonah grabbed her hand without thinking.
