Chapter 733 Turmoil 2
Beth was sobbing uncontrollably.
"Honey," Marlon called out, his voice growing softer, "we promised to stay together forever."
"Please stop crying, okay? It breaks my heart to see you like this."
His comfort was so gentle.
Beth was touched.
She got up and hugged Marlon sadly.
Tears streaked Beth's flushed face. "Honey, do you really mean it?"
"Of course," Marlon said, holding her face with utmost seriousness.
"The past is the past. By choosing to marry you, to make you my wife, it means I don't care about it."
Beth's eyes were swollen and red.
It took a long time for her to stop crying.
"Honey, do you believe the things being said online?"
She looked at Marlon, her heart filled with anxiety.
Marlon gently stroked her hair. "It's all in the past. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter anymore."
But Beth grabbed his arm. "But it's very important to me. Honey, I don't want to lie to you. I did work as a model for a while, but I never did what they said. Those photos were taken under duress."
"I've never been with any other man. Do you believe me?"
She was very emotional, her words intense and nervous.
After speaking, she anxiously looked at Marlon.
They had just gotten married and had only enjoyed a few days of happiness.
If their relationship broke down because of this, she would be heartbroken.
"Silly girl!" Marlon said seriously, holding her face. "As long as you say it, I believe it. You are my wife. Between you and others, I will always choose to believe you unconditionally."
"Honey, do you really mean it?"
"Of course."
Beth's mood finally eased a bit.
She reached out and gently wiped the tears from her face.
Marlon used a warm towel to gently wipe her face and softly coaxed her to sleep.
He only got up after she fell asleep.
As usual, he stood on the balcony.
From the twenty-eighth story, everything below looked like ants.
The lights of thousands of homes were dazzling and enchanting.
Marlon squinted his eyes, took a cigarette from his pocket, and lit it with a lighter.
Instantly, the red flame flickered wildly in the wind.
He exhaled smoke, which quickly obscured his entire face.
And in the midst, his face revealed a strange, evil smile.
The corners of his lips curled up.
"Grace, this is all thanks to you!"
"Just wait, your storm is coming."
He extinguished the cigarette, picked up his phone, and made a call, his lips curling wickedly. "Continue tomorrow. Don't stop without my orders."
"Got it."
Beth once thought the first day was a disaster.
She had endured the hardest, most vicious, and craziest day.
But when she opened her eyes the next day, she realized that an even more devastating day was ahead.
As soon as she woke up, she reached for her phone.
Her name was still trending.
She clicked in and saw that a few new photos had been leaked.
The attacks on her continued.
She felt tortured, devastated, and tormented for three whole days.
Her popularity remained high.
Later, Marlon held her and suggested, "Honey, why don't we admit defeat and ask her for peace?"
"Her?" Beth looked at him in confusion. "Who?"
"You don't know? Grace," Marlon said, feigning surprise.
"Grace?" Beth shook her head. "It can't be her. I don't like her, but she doesn't seem like the type to do this."
"Besides, she was once mired in scandal, worse than I. Someone who has been through hell, I don't believe she could be so malicious."
But Marlon shook his head. "Honey, I'm not trying to slander her, but there are things I haven't told you. Do you remember that night I went missing, and you couldn't find me anywhere? When I came back, I was mentally unstable?"
Beth nodded. "I remember! What about it?"
"Actually, that night, I was retaliated against by someone behind her. That man locked me in a hotel, tied me to a chair, and had hunting dogs torment me mentally."
"If it weren't for my strong will, I might have gone crazy."
Beth's eyes widened in disbelief. "Honey, is what you're saying true?"
"Of course, why would I lie to you? If we weren't forced into a corner by her, I wouldn't want to recall that inhumane experience."
"But honey, seeing you in pain feels like a knife in my heart."
"You're right, Grace might not have done this herself, but the man behind her might have. They must want to retaliate against me, and since they can't get to me, they targeted you."
"I'm sorry, honey, it's my fault. I dragged you into this."
Marlon hugged her apologetically, looking guilty.
Seeing him like that, Beth felt heartbroken.
She thought for a long time.
One morning, she finally made a call. "Let's meet. You pick the place."
"Sorry, during this sensitive time, it's not appropriate for us to meet."
Grace refused without hesitation.
However, Grace never expected that a few days later, Beth would wait for her at an event venue and follow her.
In the underground parking lot, just as Grace was about to get into her car, Beth suddenly rushed out.
Beth grabbed Grace's wrist. "Grace, don't go. Let's talk."
"Beth, let me reiterate, there's nothing to talk about between us."
Grace shook off her hand and walked towards the car.
Just as the car started and Grace was about to drive away, Beth suddenly rushed out and blocked the car.
Beth spread her arms, her eyes wide as she looked at Grace.
Her words were firm and resolute.
"Ten minutes, I just need ten minutes."
"Otherwise, you can drive over me."
Grace turned off the engine and rubbed her temples in frustration.
Beth immediately took the opportunity to run over and lean on the window. "Grace, no matter what Marlon and I did to offend you before, I'm begging you, please be magnanimous and let us go. My career is ruined, and I'm about to go crazy from the things online."
Grace took off her sunglasses and looked at her with amusement. "Beth, you don't really think I did all those things, do you?"
