Chapter 229 Shall We Get Married?
"Gabriel," Jessica called out.
No answer.
She looked down and saw the blanket he put on her.
But where did he go?
Jessica got up and opened the door, ready to step out.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and they bumped into each other.
Jessica's head smacked right into Gabriel's nose.
Her head was definitely harder, so you can imagine how much his nose hurt.
Jessica quickly touched his nose. She asked worriedly, "You okay? Does it hurt?"
He answered calmly, "It's fine; it doesn't hurt."
Seeing her worry, he didn't want to make her more anxious.
"Since you're up, go change." Gabriel handed her some clothes.
Jessica looked at him, surprised. She asked, "Why? It's already dark outside."
"I'm taking you out," he said.
Jessica's eyes lit up like stars.
Jessica said excitedly, "Okay, give me a sec."
Gabriel said patiently, "Take your time."
While changing, Jessica felt excited.
She thought she'd spend the whole day at home, but now he was taking her out. She was thrilled.
After putting on her pink down jacket, she looked in the mirror, feeling a bit shy.
She bought this jacket in grad school and had only worn it twice.
It was so pink, making her look like a little girl, so she only wore it on campus.
She didn't expect him to pick this jacket for her.
Thinking about her job, she felt a bit embarrassed to dress so youthfully.
After changing, she spun around in front of Gabriel. She asked, "How do I look?"
"Great," he said.
"But why this jacket? I have so many others," Jessica asked, puzzled.
"I wanted to see you in this one. You look beautiful," Gabriel said.
His compliment made her happy inside.
"But it's too pink. Don't you think it's not suitable for me? I should look more dignified," Jessica hesitated.
Gabriel stepped forward, gently placing his hand on her shoulder. He remarked, "Today, you're not Dr. Morgan. You're just my girlfriend.
He complimented, "And I think this jacket suits you perfectly. You look beautiful."
"Alright, I'll wear it. Let me put on some makeup," Jessica said, turning to go back inside.
But Gabriel pulled her back. He said honestly, "You look great without makeup."
Jessica felt charmed by his words, so she skipped the makeup.
If Jessica had makeup on, she would regret it. The makeup would smudge when she cried her eyes out.But at least for the first few minutes, she could look beautiful.Of course, that was a story for later.
As they were leaving, Gabriel suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong?" Jessica asked.
"Wait for me," he said, then quickly turned back. When he returned, he had a hat, which he gently placed on Jessica. "It's cold and windy tonight. This will keep you warmer."
They walked out hand in hand.
Gabriel muttered, "Jessica."
Jessica responded, "Mm?"
Gabriel asked, "Do you ever feel dating me is boring or tough?"
Jessica answered with a question, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I work a lot and don't have much time for you," Gabriel said.
Jessica thought for a moment, then nodded seriously. She remarked, "Yes, you are too busy. You've been on two business trips this month, can't be with me, and can't always be by my side."
Gabriel's heart tightened.
Then Jessica smiled. She said sweetly, "But I still like you.
"Mr. Walton, I like you, even if you have less time for me. Besides, I have my own job. I'm not just waiting at home for you."
She stopped, pinched his face, and smiled. Jessica teased, "When did Mr. Walton become so insecure?"
"Mm." Gabriel hugged her tightly, resting his head on her shoulder. He said, "Ms. Morgan, if you knew I've been worried since we got together, would that make you happy?"
"Yes!" Jessica nodded, her eyes curving into a smile.
Gabriel called out to her, "Jessica."
Jessica responded, "Mm?"
She noticed he loved calling her name softly today.
It made her feel completely defenseless.
"I really want to marry you. When your internship is over, let's get married, okay?" Gabriel asked sincerely.
Married?
Jessica's heart started pounding.
She admitted she was moved.
Their first marriage wasn't pleasant.
But she loved him and had the courage to marry him again, to say "I do" in that sacred church.
She believed this time would be different.
Their first marriage was forced and unwilling.
But now, their feelings were mutual.
She believed it would be different.
However, even if she was willing, she wouldn't agree so quickly!
He hadn't even proposed properly.
"Marriage, huh!" Jessica murmured, "I haven't decided yet!"
Gabriel took her hand, kissed it, and said, "I know it's sudden and might have scared you.
He confessed, "But Jessica, I wanted to tell you my true feelings. I'm serious about you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Jessica suddenly felt something cool on her finger.
She looked down and saw he had slipped a ring onto her ring finger.
"Gabriel." Jessica looked at him, blinking hard in surprise.
Why did he have to pull such a sudden surprise?
Gabriel said earnestly, "Jessica, take your time. Consider it seriously, no matter how long it takes, but I want to see this ring on your hand."
Jessica looked down, touched the ring, and felt warmth in her heart.
"When did you prepare this?" Jessica asked softly.
