Chapter 212 Very Jealous 1

Vincent replied, "Yeah, it's me."

Vincent nodded in acknowledgment.

He looked pale and sickly, but he still managed a smile and gazed at Jessica with a gentle expression.

"Was it you they just kidnapped? Are you okay?" Vincent asked, his voice urgent and nervous.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. I'm doing great now," Jessica replied quickly.

She then looked at Vincent with concern. She asked, "Are you hurt? Why do you look so pale?"

"It's nothing, just a minor injury. Don't worry," Vincent said, trying to reassure her with a smile.

But someone nearby muttered, "Captain Lucas, this is not a minor injury; it's a gunshot wound, okay? And you're already so weak."

Vincent scolded, "Shut up."

Vincent shot the person a stern look.

Jessica had already walked over, worried. She insisted, "Where are you hurt? Let me see."

"It's nothing serious. I'll go to the hospital and have the doctor bandage it up," Vincent said.

Jessica reminded him, "Remember? I'm a doctor. Let me take a look."

She turned to the group that had just arrived. Jessica inquired, "Do you have a first aid kit?"

"Ms. Morgan, we have one here," Frank Adams spoke up.

He was part of the rescue team and another of Gabriel's assistants. Jessica had seen him a few times but not often.

Oscar handled the daily work, while Frank was responsible for security. It was said that he was very skilled.

Jessica requested, "Great, could you please bring it over?"

Frank immediately fetched the first aid kit. But when he returned, he felt a cold, piercing gaze on him.

That gaze was chilling to the bones.

Trembling, Frank looked at Gabriel. He asked, "Mr. Walton, did I do something wrong? Ms. Morgan needed it, so I brought it over."

Gabriel said sarcastically, "Why weren't you this eager when I got shot?"

Frank remained silent.

He had messed up.

It was clear now that Mr. Walton was angry.

As for the reason for his anger, Frank glanced at Jessica again, guessing it was jealousy.

'Ah, it's all your fault, Mr. Walton,' Frank thought and sighed inwardly.

But he only sighed inwardly; he wouldn't dare say it in front of Gabriel.

As for Gabriel and Jessica's divorce, Frank hadn't known at first but later found out.

So just now, he addressed her as "Ms. Morgan."

Jessica instructed, "Where are you hurt? Lie down on the stretcher and let me see."

Jessica opened the first aid kit and then looked at Vincent.

Seeing her serious expression, Vincent could only lie down and point to the side of his thigh.

Jessica walked around, and when she saw the blood seeping through his clothes, she felt a pang of distress.

So much blood; it didn't look good.

"I'll cut your clothes open first to check the wound," Jessica said.

Vincent nodded, his voice gentle. He replied, "Okay, just do it."

Jessica picked up the scissors, and Vincent's pants were quickly cut open under the sharp blades.

The morning sunlight filtered through the gaps in the trees, casting dappled shadows.

Some fell around Jessica.

Some fell on her face, highlighting the delicate contours of her profile.

Gabriel watched, feeling a surge of tenderness in his heart.

Seeing Jessica so focused on treating Vincent, Gabriel felt a twinge of jealousy.

When she cut open Vincent's clothes and saw the wound, Jessica gasped.

"How did it get this bad?" Jessica remarked. Her brows furrowed tightly.

Jessica inquired, "This wound looks older than just a recent gunshot. Is there an old injury too?"

Knowing Vincent would likely downplay it, Jessica asked the police officer beside him.

The officer immediately replied, "Ms. Morgan, you're amazing. Captain Lucas did get injured on a previous mission. Someone stabbed his leg with a sharp weapon, and because the conditions were harsh, it got infected."

The officer added ,"The infection was quite severe, and Captain Lucas refused to rest, so it never healed. He got shot again just now while saving a teammate."

Hearing this, Jessica felt a wave of emotion ripple through her heart.

Her eyes felt a bit warm.

It took her a moment to steady herself. Jessica commented, "Not surprising."

"Ms. Morgan, how did you know? You know our Captain Lucas so well?" the officer asked, surprised.

Jessica lowered her eyelashes and softly replied, "Because from what I know, your Captain Lucas is a warm-hearted person who always rushes to save others, regardless of his own safety."

The officer remarked, "Ms. Morgan, you really understand our Captain Lucas."

Jessica replied nonchalantly, "Not really, but he has saved me several times."

The officer tried to probe, "No wonder. So Ms. Morgan and our Captain Lucas have such a connection. By the way, Ms. Morgan, are you single? Would you consider our..."

Before he could finish, Gabriel suddenly started coughing violently.

Jessica's heart tightened with worry.

But she couldn't just stop what she was doing with Vincent.

Jessica informed, "Vincent, your wound is quite infected. I need to disinfect it properly and stop the bleeding."

She advised calmly, "As for the bullet, I don't have the skills to remove it right now. You'll need to go to the hospital for that. Disinfecting will hurt a bit, so bear with it. If it gets too painful, let me know."

Vincent agreed, "Okay."

Gabriel remained silent.

Seeing Jessica's attention entirely on Vincent, not caring about his coughing at all, he felt particularly frustrated.

He was also in a bad mood.

Facing Jessica's direction, Gabriel coughed violently again.

But Jessica's attention was still on Vincent.

It wasn't until she finished treating and bandaging Vincent's wound that she looked up, finally showing a smile, and said, "Vincent, it's done."

"Thank you!" Vincent said appreciatively and also smiled gently.

Under the sunlight, the two looked at each other, their smiles gentle.

If one only saw this scene, it would seem beautiful.

But Gabriel found it glaring.

Gabriel complained, "It hurts."

He grumbled loudly, "It really hurts."

Suddenly, Gabriel clutched his wound and shouted loudly.

Frank remained silent.

Frank judged silently, 'Mr. Walton, that was too fake. Could you at least act a bit more convincingly?'

Jessica immediately looked at Vincent, advising, "Once we get to the hospital, have the bullet removed and take good care of the wound. It can't get infected again."

Jessica looked at Gabriel, and said, "He's also seriously injured, and it seems to be getting worse. I need to check on him. I'll visit you when I have time."

"Okay," Vincent agreed then nodded, his voice as gentle as ever.
