Chapter 246 Unforgettable Love
"No, thank you," Jessica refused.
"And if I remember correctly, Diana just had surgery on her legs. You should go see her." With that, she quickly left the hospital room.
As for his answer, she didn't want to hear it at all.
Now that he was feeling better, it was time to draw a line between them.
After two busy days, Jessica finally had a normal workday and managed to have lunch at the hospital cafeteria.
Tina looked at her with concern. "Jessica, have you been going through something these past two days? You've lost weight."
"Yes, but it should be over now," Jessica answered.
As soon as Jessica finished speaking, Tina suddenly pointed behind her. "Jessica, I think someone's looking for you."
Jessica turned around and saw Oscar.
He placed a thermos box on the table in front of Jessica. "Mr. Walton said you've lost a lot of weight these past few days. These are all your favorite foods. He wants you to eat more."
Then he took out two cups of coffee, placing one in front of Jessica. "Mr. Walton said you love this flavor. He specifically asked me to get it for you."
Oscar handed the other cup to Tina. "Miss Ingram, this one is for you. Mr. Walton said he will treat you to a meal later and asked you to take good care of Ms. Morgan at the hospital."
"Jessica." Tina looked at Jessica.
She didn't dare accept it without Jessica's approval.
"Thanks, but I don't need it," Jessica said coldly.
After finishing her meal, Jessica took Tina's hand and left.
Oscar sighed. This was going to be a tough one. Ms. Morgan seemed very determined. Mr. Walton had really made things difficult for himself this time.
As they walked, Tina tugged at Jessica. "Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?"
Jessica shook her head. "No, we didn't fight."
She lowered her eyelashes and said softly, "We broke up."
"What?" Tina was stunned, but then she understood.
No wonder Jessica had been in a low mood these days, taking on any task in the department.
It turned out Jessica was lovelorn.
"Do you need me to keep you company after work? If you want to drink or sing, I'm here for you," Tina said loyally.
"Thank you, Tina. But I've been really tired these days. I just need a good sleep."
"Alright, call me if you need anything," Tina said.
"Okay." She nodded.
After work, Jessica had just changed her clothes and was leaving the department when she saw Gabriel.
He walked over and naturally took her hand, with a faint smile on his lips.
It was as if nothing had ever happened.
As if everything was just her being unreasonable.
"Let go of me." Jessica met his gaze, but her voice was icy.
Gabriel didn't speak but held her hand even tighter, then started walking forward.
There were many colleagues in the hospital, and people were coming and going. So Jessica held back her anger.
When they reached the elevator and were alone, she couldn't hold back any longer. "Gabriel, I'm begging you. Stay away from me. I don't want to love anymore. I can't .
"Please let me go. I admit defeat. I know I was wrong. I shouldn't have liked you from the start, and I shouldn't have married you.
"Do whatever you want with Diana. None of it has anything to do with me."
He pressed her shoulders and his eyes were bloodshot. "Jessica, I told you, I won't let you go. Never."
She yelled, "Gabriel, you're crazy. You're a bastard. Let go of me."
She struggled fiercely, but it was no use.
The next moment, he picked her up and put her in the car.
The car doors were locked tight. No matter how hard she tried, it was useless.
Exhausted from struggling and shouting, she resigned herself to sitting inside.
Maybe she was too tired; she fell asleep leaning against the window.
When she woke up again, she was in Gabriel's house.
To be more precise, it was their former marital home.
Such a familiar scene, now it seemed ridiculous.
He had forcefully brought her back here.
She didn't remember how long she slept. When she woke up, the room was dark, with only a dim light by the bed.
Jessica opened the door. She wanted to leave.
But as soon as she reached the living room door, she was stopped by a group of people. "Sorry, Ms. Morgan, you can't leave without Mr. Walton's orders."
Jessica was furious. "Where is he?"
"Mr. Walton is in the backyard," they answered.
She turned and ran towards them.
When she saw the two people standing there, her heart clenched.
Diana was there. She was still sitting in a wheelchair.
The bright garden lights shone on her delicate face. Despite her dislike for her, Jessica had to admit that Diana was beautiful.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have stood out among so many women to become Gabriel's girlfriend.
"Gabriel, how are you? Oscar said you were injured. I was worried, so I came to see you," Diana asked worriedly.
Gabriel turned around and looked at Diana, his gaze suddenly becoming exceptionally calm.
Even his voice was quiet. "Diana, actually, I should thank you this time."
"Thank me?" Diana was completely confused. She opened her mouth, unsure. "Thank me for what?"
He explained, "Thank you for making me realize my feelings for Jessica. In the past, I always remembered the feelings we had, and later, I remembered your life-saving grace. So, I chose you over and over again, and gave up on her.
"I always thought I was doing the right thing because I had a lifetime to make it up to her, to love her.
"But that day in the rain, when she held an umbrella and looked at me calmly, saying she wanted to break up with me, I felt like my heart died. I couldn't breathe.
"I felt like I was in hell, and my heart was torn apart. These past two days, I've been thinking about what my feelings for you were. Why, when you left me and broke up with me to go abroad, could I accept it so calmly? Without even trying to keep you. But with Jessica, everything changed.
"Now, I finally understand. Our feelings were never love. When I accepted you, I said we should give it a try. Diana, it was Jessica's appearance that made me realize my feelings for you were never love. It was responsibility, obligation, and the naive confusion of youth.
"But with Jessica, it's a deep, inescapable love. The doctor has already told me your surgery was successful. You'll be able to stand up soon, dance again, and continue your career.
"I no longer feel guilty or responsible for you."
Diana was already in tears, looking at him in disbelief, her heart breaking.
He had said many harsh words to her, but none had hurt her as much as this.
"Gabriel, do you know you're breaking my heart?" Diana said with tears.
Gabriel still looked at her calmly. "If I could, I would rather have died that night than be saved by you because then, I would have stayed in the most beautiful moment with her."
