Chapter 250 Successfully Rescued, She Woke Up 2
"Okay," Gabriel nodded.
He immediately closed his eyes, turned around, and fumbled to lift Jessica out of the bathtub.
After setting her down, he quickly turned around again to face away from her.
She held onto the wall with one hand and used a towel to dry herself with the other.
It was still a bit strenuous; he could hear her clear breaths. After all, her body was very weak now.
Big movements like bending over and reaching out were quite exhausting for her.
Although he was facing away from her, Gabriel couldn't help but ask, "Jessica, do you need my help?"
"No," Jessica reflexively refused without even thinking. "Give me a few more minutes. I can do it."
Though worried, he still listened to her and stood obediently with his back to her, not turning around.
A few more minutes passed, and she still hadn't finished dressing.
At this point, he ran out of patience. He turned around, picked up the pajamas nearby.
As Jessica saw him turn around, her face immediately flushed, her eyes widened, and her clear, deer-like eyes looked at him, even forgetting to cover herself.
"Why did you turn around? You clearly promised me just now." Her voice was soft and filled with grievance.
"Times change." With that, he put the top on her, then held his breath and shakily zipped it up.
Luckily, the top had a zipper. If it had buttons, he couldn't guarantee he could button them all correctly.
His breathing was unsteady, and his whole body was filled with desire.
How could he have known she was dressing so slowly? She had only put on a small piece below, with nothing on top, and she wasn't even wearing underwear or a camisole, just the outer garment.
So, when he turned around just now, what he saw was...
Gabriel closed his eyes, not daring to think further, fearing he might die from the excitement.
Putting down the outer pants, he licked his lips and awkwardly said, "You can put on the rest yourself. I'll go out and wait for you."
This time, she wasn't having it.
She reached out and deliberately grabbed his hand, "I'm too weak to move now. I need you to dress me."
He remained silent.
He finally understood what it meant to be limited by one's own actions.
Jessica was born to test his will and torment him.
His whole body was filled with desire, with no outlet, and she was deliberately teasing him.
He knew she was doing it on purpose.
She leaned her soft body against his arm and spoke in a soft voice again, "I can't walk; you have to carry me."
"Jessica, stand still," he said in a hoarse voice.
"But I haven't recovered yet, I can't stand on my own. I can only lean on you," Jessica said, mimicking his earlier tone.
Gabriel now deeply understood what it meant to shoot oneself in the foot.
"Jessica, you're doing this on purpose!" He gritted his teeth, his deep voice filled with restraint, his head pressed against hers, breathing heavily.
She lightly pushed him with her fingers, deliberately dissatisfied, "If you don't want to, then forget it."
"I do." With that, he put the outer pants on her, then quickly picked her up and placed her in the bed.
Then, he walked to the bathroom and quickly turned on the cold water for a shower.
After a good ten minutes, with his desire slightly suppressed, he dressed and walked out.
At this moment, Oscar happened to walk in with Loren.
Seeing Gabriel come out of the bathroom with a cold aura, and then looking at Jessica lying on the bed with a flushed face, Oscar raised an eyebrow, the meaning in his eyes clear.
"Check on her," Gabriel said.
About ten minutes later, Loren slowly put away the medical kit and looked at Jessica. "Ms. Morgan, you are a doctor too; you should have some understanding of your own body. Why don't you say it first, and I'll add on."
"Okay," Jessica nodded and explained what she knew about her condition.
After listening, Loren nodded. "Your analysis is very accurate. Since you know your body is weak, you need to be even more careful in the future. I don't need to repeat things like nutrition and rest."
He turned his gaze to Gabriel. "Hire a nutritionist to address her condition. Although dietary supplements are slower than medicinal ones, they are better for the body in the long run."
"Okay, I'll arrange it immediately," Gabriel said, looking at Oscar.
Oscar immediately nodded. "Mr. Walton, I'll find a nutritionist right away."
Looking at Jessica on the bed, Loren seemed to want to say something but held back for some reason.
As they were seeing Loren off, Gabriel took the initiative to ask, "Be honest with me, is there something else wrong with her body?"
Loren responded with a question, "You two are divorced. Are you planning to remarry?"
"No," Gabriel said.
Loren understood and nodded slightly. Since they weren't planning to remarry, it didn't seem to matter whether he said it out or not.
At that moment, Gabriel said seriously, "To me, this isn't about remarrying. I don't want to define our future marriage with those words.
"I will propose and marry her, but it has nothing to do with remarrying. It will be a brand-new wedding, and she will be my new bride."
Loren felt a bit emotional.
He looked into the distance, his tone becoming somber. "If I had your realization back then, perhaps things would have ended differently with her."
"After all these years, are you still looking for her?" Gabriel asked.
"Yes," Loren nodded firmly. "Of course, I am. How could I not?"
"Have you ever thought about what if you never find her?" he pressed.
"Then I'll keep looking for a lifetime, until I die. Maybe then it will end," Loren answered.
"I checked her. Has she had a miscarriage before?" Loren asked.
Gabriel nodded. "Yes."
It was a pain that would forever linger in his heart, and a sorrow and pain that Jessica could never let go of.
Realizing something, Gabriel quickly asked, "Is there a problem?"
"Was her injury severe when she miscarried, and did she not get enough rest afterward?" Loren asked.
Gabriel nodded again.
Those past events were simply unbearable to recall.
The loss of their baby was inextricably linked to him.
One could even say it was all his fault. He blamed himself.
If he hadn't been so foolish back then, their baby might have been born healthy into this world.
But now...
Looking up, Gabriel's eyes were glistening, memories flooding back, each scene filled with pain.
"Why are you suddenly asking about this?" Gabriel asked, realizing something.
