Chapter 173 Couples Usually Reconcile After a Fight

Jessica took a step back and replied, "It's just a coincidence."

"Coincidence?" Jack sneered, "Do you think I would believe that?"

"Running into me at the café on purpose, deliberately falling when I walked in, and staring at me while I drank—can you claim all of that was just a coincidence? Do you think I'm stupid or you're stupid?" Jack interrogated.

Upon hearing this, Jessica was stunned.

These were originally coincidences, but after his interpretation, they completely took on another meaning.

"Dr. Smith, you really misunderstood. I never intended to get your attention," Jessica insisted.

"I don't believe you," Jack said, his sharp eyes fixed on her.

Jessica waved her hand dismissively. "Alright, since you don't believe me, I won't say anything more."

Saying more would only make things worse.

Spotting an opportunity, Jessica ducked her head and deftly slipped out from under Jack's arm in a swift move.

She left decisively and without hesitation, not even looking back once.

Jack watched her back and sneered, "What a classic play hard to get move."

Jessica left Jack and headed towards the private room. Recalling that it was the room on the left when she first arrived, she pushed open the door to the same left room this time as well.

However, when the door opened and she saw the people inside, Jessica was instantly stunned, realizing that she had entered the wrong room!

This wasn't the private room where her dinner was; it was crowded and noisy, with people singing, playing games, and talking, making it exceptionally lively.

Even though the room was dimly lit and crowded, Jessica immediately spotted Gabriel.

He was lounging on the sofa, his legs casually crossed. Despite his relaxed posture, his noble and elegant aura was unmistakable.

Looking at his position, right in the center of the room, it was clear he was the focal point.

Seeing someone intrude, especially a stranger who was gentle and beautiful, the room instantly fell silent.

At that moment, almost everyone turned to look at Jessica, who then glanced up and immediately locked eyes with Gabriel.

However, his eyes were too cold, too calm, like a still pond, without any ripples.

He appeared exceedingly composed, almost unnervingly so. His calm demeanor bordered on a cold detachment that verged on cruelty.

Jessica lowered her eyes, her long lashes like fans covering her eyes, instantly hiding the disappointment and sadness in them.

Since Gabriel feigned ignorance of their acquaintance and treated her as a stranger, Jessica saw no reason to confront the situation.

Having already gone through a divorce, technically making them strangers, Gabriel's behavior was justified. Jessica realized there was no cause for sadness on her part. It was just that she hadn't anticipated his remarkable composure.

"Sorry, I entered the wrong room." After saying that, Jessica immediately turned to leave.

At that moment, a voice came from behind her. "Beautiful lady, our private room has strict rules. You can't just come and go as you please."

With that, a man in a blue shirt, Frank Grant, walked over from the sofa. He had a delicate face, but his words were full of danger.

"I apologize for the intrusion; I mistakenly entered the wrong room. My private room is actually diagonally across from yours," Jessica clarified.

Frank, paying no heed to Jessica's explanation, advanced towards her. His towering figure came to an abrupt halt in front of her, his slender lips parting as he said, "Beautiful lady, I care not for the process; I am solely intrigued by the outcome."

"The result is, you entered the wrong room, so you must agree to my conditions to leave. Otherwise, I'll lose face. Look, I even have a distinguished guest here today, and you startled my guest. So, you must apologize and make amends before you can leave," Frank continued.

Jessica raised her eyes, her gaze instantly falling on Gabriel.

The "distinguished guest" Frank mentioned was undoubtedly Gabriel.

But since Gabriel had already treated her as a stranger, there was no need for her to ask him for help.

Moreover, even though Frank was making things difficult for her, Gabriel just listened and watched indifferently, maintaining his previous posture without moving an inch.

'So, what good would it do to ask Gabriel for help?' Jessica mused.

It would only be self-humiliation; Gabriel wouldn't help.

Otherwise, Gabriel wouldn't just stand by and watch Frank bully her.

Lowering her eyes, Jessica asked, "How do I apologize and make amends?"

Frank smiled and snapped his fingers. "Bring it over."

Soon, a glass of white wine was placed in front of Jessica.

Jessica's heart sank. She knew that besides drinking, there was no other way. Although she was a bit scared, she still reached for the glass.

Just as she lifted the glass and was about to drink it, Frank suddenly stopped her. "Wait a minute."

Jessica looked at him in confusion.

"Of course, there are other options," Frank interjected abruptly.

"What alternatives?"

"I just said, you startled my distinguished guest. If you're willing to go up and kiss him or get his forgiveness in some other way, I can forgive you," said Frank.

Jessica refused directly, "No need. I'll choose to drink."

With that, she didn't hesitate and downed the glass of white wine in one go.

Gabriel moved, wanting to sit up and stop her, but it was too late.

Gabriel hadn't expected that Jessica would rather drink such a large glass of white wine than kiss him.

How ironic.

'Jessica, do you hate me that much now?' The thought of this possibility made Gabriel's heart feel cold.

When did the relationship between Gabriel and Jessica reach this point?

After drinking, Jessica's throat felt like it was being scorched by fire, hot and painful.

Her entire stomach felt like it was burning, unbearably uncomfortable.

Her head was also incredibly dizzy.

Frank knew he had caused trouble and looked at Gabriel worriedly, waiting for his next move.

At this moment, Jessica slammed the glass down and looked at Frank. "I've drunk the wine. Can I leave now?"

Throughout the process, she didn't look at Gabriel once. After all, strangers were strangers; there was no reason to acknowledge him with a glance.

"Go ahead!" Frank said helplessly.

Jessica, feeling a sense of relief, immediately held her stomach and hurriedly left the room.

As soon as Jessica left, a loud noise erupted in the room.

Gabriel stood up and kicked over the coffee table in front of him. The loud noise startled everyone, and the room instantly fell silent.

Everyone froze in their positions, not daring to move, barely even breathing.

"Get out!" Gabriel yelled.

Instantly, everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief and quickly left.

Soon, the room was quiet again, leaving only Gabriel and Frank.

Frank let out a sigh, sensing Gabriel's foul mood, and approached him. "Gabriel, if you want to reconcile with her, just shower her with jewelry. After all, which woman doesn't adore jewelry?  If that doesn't work, you can always make it up to her in other ways. I assure you, she will forgive you."

"Trust me, women's hearts are tender. It's just a disagreement; couples typically reconcile after an argument," he added.
