Chapter 616 Drunk 1
Jessica leaned against Gabriel, their fingers tightly intertwined.
The orange glow of the sunset bathed them in warmth and beauty.
The air was filled with the scent of happiness.
Soon, Vincent's phone received two text messages.
[Vincent, thank you for the gift. Gabriel and I both love it.]
[Vincent, I have a favor to ask. I'm worried about Tina being alone. Please make sure she gets home safely. I'm counting on you.]
Vincent quickly replied: [Okay.]
At Jessica's request, Vincent took Tina home.
By the time they arrived, it was already very late.
The night was as dark as ink, thick and impenetrable.
The air was tinged with a hint of sadness.
Vincent had remained silent the entire time. Since they landed, he had driven without uttering a word.
It wasn't until now that Vincent finally spoke, "You're home. Get some rest. I'll be going now."
Tina didn't have time to respond before he turned and left.
The dim streetlight cast a long, slender shadow of his tall figure.
Yet it was still shrouded in deep sorrow.
His back was lonely and desolate.
Jessica was the girl he had loved for so long, but starting today, he had to completely give her up and leave her life.
Vincent's heart must be heavy with sorrow!
Tina wished she could smooth away the sadness from the corners of his eyes.
"Vincent!"
Tina called out, running to catch up with him.
"What's wrong?" Vincent stopped.
"I know you're feeling a bit down. If you don't mind, I can keep you company."
"Are you sure?"
Vincent was indeed feeling a bit melancholic, so he didn't refuse outright but asked instead.
Tina nodded firmly, "I'm sure. We can drink, go for a drive, or sing. I'll be with you."
In the dark, Vincent looked at her with deep eyes and smiled, "This is a bit unexpected."
"Unexpected what?"
"You usually seem so proper and gentle. I didn't think you'd be the type to drink with me."
Tina immediately felt indignant, "Who says I can't drink? I'm quite good at it."
"How good?"
"You'll see once you try." Tina pouted, unconvinced.
They found a nearby bar with a nice, quiet atmosphere. There was a resident singer softly singing sad love songs.
Tina thought this environment was perfect for him to heal.
Looking at the whiskey in front of her, Tina felt a bit worried.
She knew she shouldn't have bragged; now she was in trouble.
She had never drunk whiskey before.
She had only occasionally drunk beer and wine.
While Tina was in a daze, Vincent had already started drinking.
He drank quickly, almost one gulp after another, and soon finished a glass.
As he put down the glass, the figure in front of him seemed to overlap with the one in his memory.
Reaching out, he couldn't help but touch Tina's head.
Just as he was about to call out, the light brought him back to reality.
With a slight smile, he said, "Dr. Ingram, why aren't you drinking? You just said you were good at it."
Tina didn't want to be laughed at, so she immediately said boldly, "Who says I can't drink? I can."
With that, she picked up a glass of whiskey.
Gritting her teeth and steeling herself, she raised her head to drink it.
Just as her lips touched the glass and she was about to drink, a hand grabbed her slender wrist.
The next moment, Vincent's voice came, "Alright, don't push yourself."
Then he looked at the waiter, "Get her a cocktail."
Tina clinked her cocktail glass with Vincent's, "Vincent, I mean it. I'll drink as much as you want tonight."
The cocktail looked beautiful under the light, with dreamy blue hues and pure white accents, making it look romantic and full of charm.
Especially when it was cold and slightly sweet, Tina fell in love with it after just one sip.
"Is it good?"
Vincent couldn't help but smile at her cautious look.
Tina couldn't drink, yet she insisted on keeping him company, which made him reluctant to refuse.
"It's good."
"This drink has a strong aftereffect and can easily get you drunk. Don't drink too much."
"No way, I have to keep you company."
Soon, Tina finished her cocktail.
Then she ordered a second one, and Vincent didn't stop her because he was already quite drunk.
"Jessica, come, let's toast!"
"Wish you happiness, you must be happy!"
"Don't worry, I'm just letting loose today. From now on, we'll be like siblings."
Vincent raised his glass to clink with Tina's.
Then he tilted his head back and downed the entire glass.
Tina's hand holding the glass tightened.
Her heart ached to the extreme.
Vincent had mistaken her for Jessica.
How much did he love Jessica to be willing to silently protect her like this?
Tilting her head back, Tina also downed her cocktail.
Vincent was heavily drunk and had passed out on the table.
His chiseled profile was illuminated by the light, looking handsome, elegant, and extremely attractive, stirring her heart.
Tina also felt a bit dizzy.
She lay down on the table but didn't close her eyes. Instead, she looked at him intently and longingly.
She knew that perhaps only at times like this could she openly look at him without hiding her feelings.
At other times, she couldn't be this close to him.
As she watched, she couldn't help but become entranced.
Her small hand reached out, gently touching his thick eyebrows, his high nose, and then sliding down to his full, rosy lips.
"Vincent, seeing you like this breaks my heart!"
"We both know that Jessica is very happy now, so why don't you forget about her? If you can, could you turn around and look at me?"
"I like you, not just a little bit. Do you know that?"
Tina spoke unconsciously, tears gradually sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto her arm.
Soon, her arm was wet.
At that moment, a waiter came over to remind her, "Miss, we're about to close."
Tina got up and wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, "Okay."
Vincent was heavily drunk and sleeping soundly.
"Vincent, wake up!"
"Wake up!"
Tina called out a few times, but there was no response.
So she had to ask the waiter for help, "Can you help me get him outside?"
"Sure."
Outside, Tina hailed a cab.
The driver, seeing someone drunk, enthusiastically got out to help get Vincent into the car.
"Miss, where to?"
After the driver asked for the address, Tina suddenly realized this was a problem.
She didn't know his friends or family.
The best option would be to take him to her place to rest for the night.
But her apartment complex was quite a distance from the gate to her building, and Vincent was too drunk for her to manage alone.
As Tina was worrying, a large hotel sign caught her eye.
