Chapter 360 Sorry, My Heart Belongs to Someone Else

"You got it all wrong. Dr. Olson was just being nice, and I already have someone I care about. There's no way anything could happen between us." With that, Jessica dove back into her work.

Everyone scattered after hearing her say that.

However, this incident made Jessica start avoiding David whenever he was around. If she couldn't avoid him, she'd find an excuse to leave quickly.

Despite her efforts, the rumors at the hospital continued to spread.

One day, when David showed up again, Jessica decided it was time to have a serious talk.

"Dr. Olson, can I ask you something bold?" Jessica asked straight up.

"Sure, go ahead."

"Do you like me?"

David was caught off guard, his face turning a bit red. He scratched his head and bravely said, "Yeah, Dr. Morgan, to be honest, I've liked you since the first time I saw you."

"I really like you. You're exactly what I imagine in a girlfriend and partner. I'd really like to get to know you better and see where things could go between us."

Jessica felt a sense of relief at his honesty. She looked at him gently. "Dr. Olson, thank you. It's great being colleagues with you, and I value that."

"But when it comes to romance, my heart belongs to someone else. I've loved him for ten years. I love him deeply, and I can't accept anyone else's feelings."

"I hope you find your happiness soon. Let's just stay colleagues. And if it's not work-related, let's keep our distance." With that, Jessica turned and walked away.

David quickly followed her. "Dr. Morgan, can you tell me who he is?"

Jessica smiled and shook her head. "I'm sorry, Dr. Olson, but it's not something I can share. What matters is that I love him, so there's no chance for us."

As she walked away, her figure gradually faded into the distance. David watched, feeling defeated.

Over the years, many girls had shown interest in him, but he had never felt the same way about them. When he finally found someone he truly liked, it was already too late. The overwhelming sense of defeat weighed heavily on him.

Just then, a sorrowful voice came from behind him, "Is it because of her?"

David looked at Jade Ramsey, who had harbored feelings for him for ages. He felt helpless and didn't answer.

Jade got more agitated. "Is it because of her that you rejected me?"

"Jade, it has nothing to do with her. You just saw, she said she already loves someone and rejected me," David said bitterly.

But Jade wouldn't let it go. "David, how can you do this to me? I joined this hospital because of you. I've stayed here for years because of you."

"I can handle you ignoring me, but how can you like another woman? And it's just a new female doctor. David, how can you do this to me?"

David was already in a bad mood, and her outburst made him even more irritated. His tone turned harsh. "Jade, chill out. There's nothing between us, and there never has been. I can like whoever I want. I'm single, and I can pursue anyone I choose. How am I wronging you?"

With that, David walked away without looking back.

From that moment, a seed of hatred took root in Jade's heart.

Meanwhile, Chelsea was causing a ruckus at home. She was throwing and smashing things, even breaking some of Rolf's favorite items. But it didn't change a thing.

This time, her grandfather was dead and set on marrying her off to Henry.

Chelsea had no other option. She went to Gabriel, crying, "Gabriel, please, talk to my grandfather. I can't marry a guy I've never even met."

"Plus, I had someone look into Henry. He's a total playboy with a bunch of girlfriends and zero responsibility. He's exactly the kind of guy I hate. Marrying him would ruin my life."

Gabriel tried to explain, "Chelsea, Henry isn't what you think. The image he shows to the world is different from who he really is. Once you get to know him, you'll see his good side."

Chelsea looked at him, disappointed. "So, you're just like my grandfather. You want me to marry him, don't you?"

"Gabriel, I thought you were different. I've already sacrificed so much for you. Why can't you help me just this once?"

Her eyes filled with tears, and Chelsea turned away without another word. As she stepped outside, the sky was overcast, and a drizzle began to fall, mirroring her somber mood.

As she walked, the rain intensified, each drop mingling with her tears. By the time she reached home, the sky had opened up, and a torrential downpour soaked her to the bone.

The winter rain, though not as heavy as summer storms, carried a piercing chill that seeped into her very soul.

Thinking about her futile resistance over the past few days, Chelsea looked at the heavy rain and had an idea.

She looked at the gate and suddenly collapsed to the ground. Soon, the rain soaked her clothes.

Seeing this, Eliseo rushed to help her up. "Ms. Haugen, what are you doing? It's freezing and pouring rain. Please get up."

"No!" Chelsea pushed his hand away and said firmly, "Go tell my grandfather that if he doesn't change his mind, I'll stay on the ground until he does."

Eliseo had no choice but to report back immediately.

When Rolf heard this, he was furious. "She dares to threaten me like this? Go tell her my decision is final. No matter what she does, she must marry Henry."

Eliseo reluctantly returned to Chelsea with the message.

Seeing him return, Chelsea asked hopefully, "Did my grandfather agree?"

Eliseo shook his head.

Chelsea felt crushed. She bit her lip and continued lying on the ground. Her legs were numb, and she was freezing, but she persisted. Her grandfather had always doted on her. She believed he would eventually change his mind.

Kneeling in the wind and rain, she kept telling herself that she had to be strong, that her grandfather would come around. Hours passed, and the cold seeped into her bones. Suddenly, Eliseo ran over in a hurry.

Seeing his urgency, Chelsea thought there was a change and eagerly asked, "Did my grandfather change his mind?"

Eliseo shook his head, his face pale. "Ms. Haugen, please get up. Mr. Haugen has fainted."
