Chapter 523 Heartbeat Again 2
His heart felt like it had been jolted.
Francis didn't even realize the slight joy that spread through his chest when he heard those words.
"Do you believe it?" Suddenly, Jessica asked.
Startled, Francis shook his head. "No."
He stepped on the gas, and his figure on the motorcycle quickly disappeared into the night.
It was only then that Louie opened the door from inside.
Seeing Jessica, he greeted her respectfully, "Mrs. Walton, how's your foot?"
Jessica then remembered her swollen ankle.
Love was truly a magical thing.
Just now, when she was with Gabriel, holding him, smelling his scent, she had momentarily forgotten about her injury.
Now that Louie mentioned it, she was brought back to reality.
She moved her foot, and a sharp pain shot through her ankle again.
Seeing Jessica frown, Louie immediately stepped forward. "It looks pretty bad, Mrs. Walton. Let me help you inside."
"Okay."
Once inside, Jessica sat down.
Louie handed her a cup of warm water, and after drinking it, she felt a bit warmer.
"Mrs. Walton, let me check out your ankle," Louie said.
Jessica felt a bit embarrassed.
Louie was only there to ensure her safety.
She felt awkward asking him to do such a thing.
"I don't want to trouble you. Just call a doctor for me."
"I've inquired around. There aren't many doctors on this island, and they're all a bit far from here. Plus, they generally don't make house calls at night. From the way you're walking, I think your sprain is quite severe."
"If it's not treated effectively today, it will be much worse tomorrow."
At this point, the Walton family's maid spoke up, "Mrs. Walton, you should let him take a look. You can't afford any mishaps right now."
"But." Jessica still felt a bit embarrassed.
Louie spoke up, "Mrs. Walton, it's my duty to protect you. I'm also responsible for your injury."
"Besides, Mr. Lucas and Oscar repeatedly instructed me to take good care of you."
Only then did Jessica let go of her concerns and nodded. "Alright then."
Taking off her shoes and socks, Louie felt a sudden tightness in his chest when he saw Jessica's swollen ankle.
"Mrs. Walton, it's quite swollen. It must hurt a lot!"
"It hurt a lot when I first twisted it, but it's much better now."
Thanks to Gabriel bringing her home and keeping her company, all her pain seemed to fade away.
Afraid of causing Jessica more pain, Louie was very gentle throughout.
Whether applying medicine or using his skills, Louie was very professional.
Although it hurt a bit, it was completely bearable.
"Louie, how did you know I hurt my foot?"
"Sorry, Mrs. Walton. I was worried about your safety, so I followed you quietly. I knew when you twisted your ankle, but seeing Mr. Walton with you and personally bringing you back, I didn't want to intrude and came back on my own."
"I see."
"Mrs. Walton, try moving your foot. How does it feel? Any better?"
Jessica tried moving her foot, and soon, a smile appeared on her face. "Louie, you're amazing. It doesn't hurt as much."
"Louie, it seems like you can do anything."
"You're too kind, Mrs. Walton." Louie lowered his head.
At that moment, no one knew the heat, passion, and anxiety in his heart.
And the slight joy and satisfaction that filled Louie's heart.
"Louie, when Gabriel, I mean Francis, brought me back earlier, I said I was alone, so he doesn't know you all are taking care of me."
Louie was very smart. As soon as Jessica spoke, he understood what she meant.
"Don't worry, Mrs. Walton. I won't appear when I shouldn't. I won't disturb you and Mr. Walton."
"Thank you, Louie." Jessica smiled.
When Celia got home, she expected Francis to be there, but he hadn't returned yet.
Celia called Francis several times, but no one answered.
Celia checked with the neighbors, but no one had seen Francis.
Suddenly, she felt a wave of panic wash over her.
At nine o'clock at night, it was already very late. Just when Celia was extremely worried, Francis came back.
"Francis."
Calling out anxiously, Celia quickly ran over.
Then she hugged his waist tightly.
"Francis, where have you been? I looked everywhere for you and couldn't find you."
"You didn't reply to my messages and didn't answer the phone. Do you know how worried I was? I feared something had happened to you."
At that moment, for some reason, all Francis could think about was Jessica holding him on the motorcycle.
Reaching out, Francis gently pushed Celia away.
"Francis, what's wrong?"
Feeling him push her away, Celia felt very disappointed.
"Nothing, just a bit tired."
"By the way, why are you back so late? Where did you go?" Celia asked.
When Celia was looking for him, a neighbor told her they saw him riding his motorcycle with someone on the back.
The woman was wearing a helmet, so they couldn't see her face, but she had long, flowing hair and looked like a beauty.
Hearing this, Celia panicked.
Now, seeing him looking so tired, Celia couldn't help but ask.
"Nothing much, just stayed by the beach for a while and then rode around."
"Were you alone?"
Francis didn't answer, only saying, "Celia, what's wrong with you today? You seem especially nervous."
"Have you been too tired lately and not getting enough rest? You forget I used to come back at this time often."
"I know, I'm just too worried about you, afraid something might happen to you."
"Don't worry, I'm a man. Nothing will happen to me."
"Okay, maybe I'm just too nervous. Are you hungry? I'll heat some food for you."
Francis said. "I ate a lot at lunch, so I'm not hungry. You don't need to worry about me. Make sure to get some sleep early. I'll also take a shower and rest."
"Okay."
As soon as Celia finished speaking, she saw Francis had already gone to his room.
Soon, the door closed.
Separated by a door, they were in two different worlds.
Celia didn't know if she was overthinking, but she felt that Francis was acting strange today, different from usual.
'Francis seemed distracted.'
'Francis isn't like this before.'
'What is wrong with Francis?'
Thinking of Jessica, Celia became even more anxious.
All of Francis's changes started after Jessica came to the island.
So, Celia couldn't just sit and wait.
Celia had to take the initiative.
That night, after taking a shower, Celia deliberately put on a sexy nightgown she had never dared to wear before.
Then, Celia knocked on Francis's door.
