Chapter 191 Jessica Gets Bullied
Jessica barely slept a wink all night.
Even though she knew Gabriel's flight would take over ten hours and his phone would be off, she couldn't stop checking her phone for any messages.
Despite her restless night, Jessica tackled her hospital shift the next day with full energy.
The morning was a whirlwind, and she barely had time to sip water.
After the hectic rush, just as she was about to catch her breath, she got a call from hospital administration saying Jack was looking for her.
Jessica felt a bit uneasy, to be honest.
Her last conversation with Jack was too blunt.
As an intern, she knew better than to offend the big boss. But she did, and now she was worried about the consequences.
So, when she headed over, she felt particularly heavy-hearted and cautious.
When she reached the office door, she knocked, but there was no response.
She knocked a few more times, still nothing.
Just as she was about to leave, the door suddenly opened, and Jack's cold voice came through. "Come in."
Jessica had no choice but to turn back and enter the office.
"Dr. Smith."
Suddenly, a strong force grabbed her wrist.
The next moment, she was slammed against the door, her back hitting it hard.
The pain made her cry out.
Realizing the situation was bad, she tried to leave, but Jack had already seized her hands, pressing her against the door, trapping her.
"Dr. Smith, please let go of me." Jessica's tone was still relatively polite.
"Let go?" Jack sneered.
He looked at her. "Jessica, right? I really underestimated you. You're quite the schemer. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, you might have fooled me."
"I don't understand what you're saying. I've already clarified that it was just a misunderstanding. I have no interest in you. Please, Dr. Smith, don't overthink."
"No interest?" Jack sneered again. "Because I'm just a small vice president, not as prestigious as that man?"
"That man?" Jessica was baffled.
"The man who picked you up at the hospital entrance yesterday. I saw the car, a globally limited edition, quite expensive."
As soon as Jack said this, Jessica instantly understood what he meant.
Now, it was Jessica's turn to sneer, "I didn't expect Dr. Smith to be so shallow."
"What did you say? I'm shallow?" Jack glared at her. "You're the shallow one, thinking I'm not as powerful as that man, so you immediately switched targets. If I'm not mistaken, your target isn't just me and him."
"Jack," Jessica said angrily.
She looked at him, unable to bear it any longer. "Just because you're shallow doesn't mean everyone else is. Are you sure I got into that car just for money?"
"If not, then is it true love?" Jack said disdainfully.
"Sorry to disappoint you, but I'll say it again: I have a boyfriend. The man you saw is my boyfriend. I love him, not for his power, status, or money."
"Even if you were a thousand times richer than him, I still wouldn't like you."
"What did you say?"
Jack was really enraged this time. He grabbed Jessica's chin, his grip strong and heavy. She almost cried out in pain, hearing the creak of her bones.
Jack was losing it. No one had ever spoken to him like this before.
She was bold, challenging his limits again and again.
"I know what you are. Do you think I'll believe what you say? I bet even your so-called boyfriend is fake, just a lie to deceive me," Jack said viciously, gripping her chin.
"I'm not lying. He is my boyfriend. If you don't believe me, I can prove it now."
"Prove it? How?"
"I can call him right now."
"Alright, let's see."
"Let go of me first," Jessica said.
Jack was straightforward and immediately let go of Jessica.
Freed, Jessica took a few deep breaths and then called Gabriel.
She was confident when she made the call. By her calculations, Gabriel should have landed by now.
However, when the first call and the second call went unanswered, Jessica started to get anxious.
"Is the lie exposed so quickly?" Jack stood aside with his arms crossed, sneering.
Jessica just gripped her phone tightly and kept calling.
After three calls, the result was the same: the phone was off.
Jack's sneer grew colder: "I told you, a lie will always be exposed."
"I'm not lying. He really is my boyfriend," Jessica stubbornly resisted.
She bit her lip and looked at Jack with determined eyes, not backing down at all.
This look made Jack particularly unhappy. He grabbed her chin again. "Glaring at me won't help. A lie is still a lie."
"Repeat again, I'm not lying."
This time, Jessica's tone was firmer, more determined, without any retreat.
These words directly angered Jack.
She clearly wanted to attract his attention, clearly wanted to gain a higher status, yet she used so many tactics and pretended to be so aloof. The more he looked at her, the angrier he got.
Fine.
She got what she wanted.
Now he was interested. He was determined to expose her lies and ugly face, to see her pitiful look when she failed.
Thinking of this, Jack felt a surge of excitement in his chest.
He reached out, tugged at his collar, and suddenly walked towards Jessica with dangerous steps.
Jessica quickly sensed his abnormality and retreated in alarm.
But behind her was the door, and she had nowhere to go.
Jack kept approaching, the light in his eyes growing more sinister and terrifying, especially the expression on his face, which made Jessica even more scared.
Jessica hugged herself tightly, trembling slightly. "Jack, stop. Calm down."
