Chapter 316 Jessica, I Love You

Hearing Jessica's voice and seeing her standing outside the door, soaked to the bone, Gabriel's mind went blank.

All he wanted was to wrap her up in his arms.

He dashed downstairs and flung the door open.

They just stood there, staring at each other, and then, like they had some silent agreement, they hugged each other tight.

Jessica was drenched, her hair and clothes sticking to her.

As soon as Gabriel hugged her, his clothes got wet too.

But he didn't care.

It felt like as long as he could hold her, the cold rain didn't matter.

Jessica didn't let go either. She didn't want to talk, just wanted to hold him and feel him close.

They had no idea how long they stood there, it felt like forever.

Only when they were sure the other wasn't going anywhere did they finally let go.

"You're soaked. Are you cold? Let's get you upstairs for a bath," Gabriel said.

"Okay."

Jessica let him lead her upstairs, following him quietly.

She watched as Gabriel got her clothes, ran the water, and set out her pajamas and towel.

He tested the water temperature, saying, "This is perfect. I'll be right outside; call me when you're done."

Jessica just looked at him, not saying a word.

Seeing her quiet, Gabriel asked, "What's wrong? Hurry up and wash; don't catch a cold. I'll be waiting outside."

With that, he turned to leave.

But just as he was about to go, a soft arm wrapped around him from behind.

Jessica rested her head on his back and softly said, "Gabriel, I'm sorry. I made you feel bad. I didn't know Jack was Dad's kid from another woman, and I didn't know he'd try to mess with you. If I had known, I would never have let you meet, and I certainly wouldn't have let him explain this matter."

Jessica continued, "But believe me, nothing happened between us. He just wanted to provoke you. Nothing happened."

Gabriel's back went rigid.

He turned around and pulled Jessica into his arms.

His chin rested on her head, and he gently stroked her hair. "Okay, I believe you."

"Really?" Jessica smiled, relieved, looking up at him.

"Yeah, I believe it." He nodded and kissed her forehead.

Right then, he felt a deep sense of peace.

As long as she was there with him, that was all that mattered.

Whatever had happened before, whatever they'd been through, it didn't matter anymore. He didn't want to think about it.

All he wanted was her.

The bathroom got warmer, and Jessica's face turned rosy from the steam, looking like a fresh, tempting flower.

Gabriel's voice got husky, "The water's ready; go take your bath."

He let go of her hand and started to leave.

But Jessica didn't seem to hear him. She held on tighter.

"Gabriel, what if I want to take a bath with you?" The moment she said it, the air seemed to freeze.

One second, two seconds...

Several seconds passed without a word from Gabriel, making Jessica feel super awkward.

Just as she was about to drop her arm and turn away, Gabriel spun around, and the next thing she knew, his kiss came down on her like a volcano, fierce and passionate.

Jessica didn't expect him to be so eager, and it caught her off guard.

"Jessica, you started this. I don't want to push you." Gabriel held her, his eyes intense.

Jessica reached out, summoning all her courage.

She wrapped her arms around his neck, looking him in the eyes. "Yes, I started it. I want this."

"Gabriel, I want this."

"This time, I want to give you all of me, okay?"

Tears started to fall as she spoke.

"Okay."

Gabriel lowered his head, gently kissing away her tears as he carried her to the bathtub.

When Jessica woke up, she was in bed.

Her whole body ached, feeling like she might fall apart with any movement.

As soon as she opened her eyes, Gabriel walked in with a glass of milk.

Seeing it was hot milk, Jessica obediently took the cup and drank it.

After finishing, she handed the cup back to Gabriel.

Gabriel set it aside and then wrapped Jessica, along with the blanket, in his arms.

"Jessica," he whispered in her ear, softly calling her name.

"Yes," she responded softly.

"I love you."

Gabriel's sudden confession caught her off guard, her eyes wide open.

She slowly turned around, gently stroking Gabriel's eyebrows.

Even though they had cleared up their misunderstanding and been intimate, she still sensed a sadness in his eyes.

A faint feeling, indescribable, yet always there.

"Gabriel, are you unhappy?" Jessica gently asked, caressing his cheek.

"Why do you say that?"

Jessica said, "I feel like you're not happy at all."

Gabriel smiled, "Silly girl, you're mistaken. I'm very happy. As long as you're by my side, I'm happy."

"Jessica," Gabriel called her name again.

"Yes," she nodded.

"I love you," he said.

Jessica was even more surprised, asking, "What's going on today? You keep confessing to me."

Gabriel grabbed her small hand, holding it tightly in his palm, and said gently, "I just want to tell you that I love you more than I ever imagined."

Jessica said, "Gabriel, then listen carefully. I love you very much too."

"Good, so no matter what happens in the future, you are not allowed to leave me." He took the opportunity to make Jessica promise.

Jessica smiled and nodded, "Okay, I promise you; I will never leave you again."

"Have you slept well? Do you want to sleep a bit more?"

Jessica shook her head, replying, "No, I can't sleep anymore. I've already slept for a long time."

At that moment, everything between them felt light and joyful.

Jessica naively thought they would always be this happy until a month later when she fainted.
