Chapter 783 The Dream Shattered
"Quentin, I'm not someone who doesn't understand when others are kind to me, nor am I someone who clings on desperately."
"If, during the month I was away, you developed feelings for someone else, I hope you can be honest with me and not deceive me."
Quentin stroked her head, looking pained, "Silly, what are you talking about?"
Grace pulled his hand down, her voice soft but stubborn, "I'm not lying to you, everything I said is sincere."
"If one day you fall in love with someone else, I hope you tell me yourself, at least I would hear it from you and not passively from someone else."
"As long as you say it, I won't cling on, I will..."
Before Grace could finish her sentence, Quentin's voice suddenly turned stern, "What nonsense are you talking about? The more you say, the more ridiculous it gets."
"Then why haven't you touched me?" She looked up, demanding an answer.
"I can only think of two reasons: first, you don't love me anymore; second, you have something heavy on your mind. So tell me, which one is it?"
However, Quentin denied it outright.
He stroked her hair, his voice indulgent, "Silly, it's neither. I'm just too tired today and afraid I can't satisfy you."
"Go to sleep early."
Then, his figure resolutely left.
Grace lay in bed, and after shedding a string of tears, she felt much clearer.
Although many celebrity couples cheat because they can't stand the loneliness due to frequent filming and long-distance relationships.
This phenomenon was common in the entertainment industry, even too common.
But she didn't believe Quentin was that kind of person.
So only the second possibility remained: he had something on his mind!
She felt that since she came back this time, he had been acting strange, his brows furrowing suddenly, as if he had a lot on his mind.
What could it be?
Was it related to Helen, Ruby?
Or was it related to Grace?
Grace got up, changed her clothes, and walked out the door.
She asked the servants downstairs and found out he was in the study.
Just as a servant was going to deliver coffee, Grace instructed, "Go check how many cigarette butts are in his ashtray."
Soon, the servant came back with a reply, "There are already six."
In such a short time, he had smoked so many cigarettes. He must have something on his mind. What could it be?
She called Willie, but Willie was evasive.
In the end, Willie only left one sentence, "Ms. Morgan, it's better if you ask Mr. Taft yourself about this matter."
"Alright then!"
That night, Quentin didn't sleep well; Grace also had insomnia.
When she got up in the morning, her head was dizzy, but she couldn't sleep anymore.
When she went downstairs, he was already gone, leaving only a sense of loneliness.
While having breakfast, she was eating out of boredom when Linda arrived.
"Linda? Why are you here? Weren't you on a business trip these past few days?"
Linda put down her bag, "Came to see you. Those dark circles are heavy, didn't sleep well?"
"Yes, since I came back this time, I feel like Quentin has something on his mind, but he didn't say anything, so I'm even more curious."
Hearing this, Linda suddenly breathed a sigh of relief.
The reason Linda came back halfway through her business trip was that she was worried about Grace.
That day, the media widely reported Quentin and Caroline's wedding, and of course, Linda knew about it.
But considering many factors, Linda didn't tell Grace the news.
The signal was bad in the desert, so Linda guessed Grace didn't know about it.
Grace came back yesterday, and Linda was worried she would be too heartbroken if she found out, so she took a red-eye flight back after finishing her business.
But seeing Grace's current state, maybe Grace didn't know yet.
"Grace, you didn't have a signal in the desert all the time, must have been stifling. Did you go crazy catching up on our entertainment news when you got back?" Linda asked tentatively.
Grace shook her head, "Not really, it actually felt quite peaceful. Yesterday, I went out with Quentin, didn't have much time to play with my phone."
Hearing this, Linda felt much more at ease.
'The longer I could keep it from her, the less sadness there would be.' Linda thought.
After spending a short time with Grace, Linda's various calls started coming in.
She was very busy, so she left soon after.
Not long after Grace finished breakfast, the villa was visited by someone who surprised everyone.
Grace looked at Caroline in front of her and was stunned for a moment. "Are you looking for Quentin?"
"No." Caroline looked at her firmly, "I'm here for you, Grace."
"What for?"
After all, they were rivals in love, so there was no need for fake pleasantries; direct conversation was more appropriate.
Caroline didn't rush to speak. After carefully looking around the living room, she finally set her eyes on Grace and spoke slowly.
"Indeed, being a star and knowing how to act. I really admire you. At this point, you can eat here so calmly?"
"If I were you, I wouldn't even be able to drink water, I'd be hiding under the covers crying."
Grace couldn't stand this sarcastic tone.
"If you have something to say, say it. If not, get out. You're not welcome here."
Caroline sneered and looked at her, "Grace, what right do you have to kick me out? This villa belongs to Quentin, which means after we get married, it will be our joint property."
"So, the one who should leave is you, not me."
All the expressions on Grace's face froze instantly.
She clenched her hands, her lips moving in disbelief, "What marriage? What are you talking about?"
Caroline laughed hysterically, "I see, you didn't know. No wonder you're so calm."
After laughing, Caroline picked up her phone and spoke provocatively.
"Grace, you're really pitiful. Since you don't know, I'll kindly remind you."
"I'm about to marry Quentin."
Grace could only shake her head. She bit her lip, shaking her head continuously, "No, I don't believe you. You're lying to me."
How could it be?
Just a month ago, before Grace left for filming, Quentin had proposed to her and put a ring on her finger.
He had promised Grace that once the wedding was prepared, they would get married.
It had only been a month, so why such a big change?
How did it suddenly become his and Caroline's wedding?
Grace absolutely didn't believe it, unless he told her himself.
Just yesterday, Grace was happily waiting to marry him and be his most beautiful bride.
How could everything change overnight?
"Grace, stop dreaming. Quentin will never marry you."
"I know you don't believe it, so open your phone and search for it yourself. The media reported our wedding a week ago, and you don't know?"
