Chapter 233: Do You Even Know What You're Doing?

"Take care at home and wait for me," Gabriel said.

"Okay," Jessica replied, watching him leave reluctantly.

The snow was falling heavily.

In the vast white snow, Jessica watched him walk further away.

Suddenly, she shouted, "Gabriel!"

He didn't seem to hear and kept walking.

A surge of strength filled Jessica. She chased after him, running as fast as she could.

She hugged him from behind, resting her head on his back.

Snowflakes swirled around them.

"I can't bear to see you go," Jessica said softly, her voice tender.

This was the moment he had always dreamed of.

But now, he couldn't give her a satisfying answer.

They stood there in the snow, embraced in silence.

Everything was silent.

After a while, with no response from him, Jessica let go and said softly, "Since you're busy, go ahead. I'll take care of myself."

"Wait for me to come back," he said, kissing her forehead.

"Okay," Jessica nodded. "But don't make me wait too long."

She stood on her tiptoes and lightly kissed his lips.

Their lips were cold, but Jessica's heart felt like it was on fire.

"Go upstairs. I'll watch you," Gabriel said.

"Okay." Jessica turned around, stepping on the snow, walking forward.

When she went out, she felt warm because he was holding her hand.

When she came back alone, the air felt colder.

Gabriel watched her until she entered the building and he couldn't see her anymore. Then he got into the car.

As soon as she got upstairs, Jessica went to the balcony.

She could see his car clearly.

His car drove away quickly and disappeared in a minute.

Jessica propped her chin, gazing into the distance.

Lately, he seemed exceptionally busy, as if preoccupied with something mysterious.

And those phone calls—what was he told that made him leave her so quickly?

She shook her head, telling herself not to overthink.

As soon as he got in the car, Gabriel's expression turned cold.

When the call connected, his tone was icy, "Have you found her?"

"Not yet, Mr. Walton. We're still looking."

"How long has it been?"

"Two hours," the assistant replied cautiously.

"Two hours? Why are you telling me this now?"

"Sorry, Mr. Walton, we thought Ms. Bush just got lost and would be found soon, but we didn't expect..." the assistant said.

"Stop talking nonsense! Find her immediately!" Gabriel shouted.

"Yes, Mr. Walton," the assistant replied.

A few minutes later, Gabriel arrived at the hospital.

After inspecting the ward, he opened the window and saw a small garden downstairs for patients to recuperate.

He immediately pointed, "There, have you checked there?"

"We have. Ms. Bush isn't there," the assistant replied.

"Check again," Gabriel ordered.

"Yes, sir."

A few minutes later, the assistant came back panting, "Mr. Walton, we found her. She's hiding in the bushes behind a bench."

"Then bring her up," Gabriel said.

"She refuses to come up. She said she'll only come if you go get her," the assistant answered.

Gabriel shot a sharp look, "I've spent so much money hiring you all, and you can't even bring one person up?"

"Mr. Walton, Ms. Bush's condition is really bad, and she's very emotional. When we get close, she starts screaming and shouting. We didn't want to disturb other patients, so we didn't use force," the assistant explained.

Gabriel pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

After a moment, he spoke, "Take me there."

A few minutes later, Gabriel stood downstairs.

As he approached, the people nearby respectfully greeted, "Mr. Walton."

Hearing the voices, Diana, who was sitting in the bushes, immediately looked up, her face full of tears as she looked at him.

She smiled, her voice soft. "Gabriel, you're here?

"Do you know? I've been waiting for you."

"Diana," Gabriel stared at her angrily, veins bulging with rage, "Do you even know what you're doing? Do you know the consequences?"

Diana simply smiled, her tone still gentle, "I know. Of course, I know.

"But, I just wanted to see if you'd worry and come find me.

"Gabriel, don't think I don't know. You went straight to Jessica as soon as you returned. But so what? When you heard I was missing, you still left her and rushed over. Gabriel, admit it. You still love me. You still care, right?"

Gabriel stared at her furiously, "Diana, you're hopeless. I'll say it one more time, I came to find you not because I care, but because I don't want a tragedy.

"Listen, if you play this game again, I won't come. I'll just collect your body."

The phrase "collect your body" really scared Diana.

She didn't expect him to say that.

"Gabriel, how can you be so heartless? Do you really have no feelings for me at all?" Diana looked at him, her eyes filled with pain.

Gabriel coldly looked at the people beside him, "Put her in the wheelchair and take her up."

Back in the ward, Diana lost control, screaming and shouting.

She pushed the wheelchair, smashing everything in the room.

Gabriel just watched her coldly, not moving or saying a word to stop her.

After Diana finished venting, he looked at the assistants, "Who can tell me how she got downstairs? Didn't I tell you to keep an eye on her?"

One assistant immediately lowered his head and admitted, "Sorry, Mr. Walton, Ms. Bush said the scenery downstairs was nice and wanted to get some fresh air. I thought she couldn't move far, so I agreed."

Gabriel sneered, "Then tell me, how did she get lost?"

The fact was, Diana had planned it in advance.

After going downstairs, she deliberately fell from the wheelchair and then crawled bit by bit to hide behind the bushes.

It wasn't until someone found she wasn't in the wheelchair that they realized she was missing.

"From today, double the number of people outside. Assign two women to her. No matter where she goes, they must stay with her at all times," Gabriel commanded.

After speaking, Gabriel looked at Diana, "I'll discuss with Professor Thomas to move up the surgery date."
